Morning, artu.

How about Willie Dixon- Back Door Man.
Or in this version. Howlin Wolf - Back Door Man.

Or Doors version of it..

Speaking of Willie Dixon ... Difficult to beat Led Zep.

Back Door Man is both swell by the Doors and Howlin' Wolf, Willi Dixon version is more like "I composed it so I'm entitled to some respect!"

I'm not much of a Zeppelin person but, if there's one Willie Dixon song they got right, it's not Bringing It On Home, it's I Cant Quit You Baby. Feels very personal to listen to it at the moment because I'm under the impression that I should quit her.

Or probably Muddy Waters' You Shook Me from their debut album, probably.
Problem for me is, that I think they expanded and surpassed the covered material with their own, for example in Since I've been Loving You (the process that makes them so influential themselves).

Same with the Stones. Little Red Rooster is very traditional and faithful to the original, but what they put out starting with Beggar's Banquet would expand and surpass the old masters - which is as it should be, obviously.

I wouldn't call it surpassing. Blues is still top notch as blues when "the old masters" play it. Rock musicians brought a new sound, sure. But it's never as good. If it's about advanced harmony etc, you have jazz, they are the ones about progress, and they are the ones who are not even mentioning it.

The thing about the blues is, it's rock n roll without all that poster kid industry, it's just better.

Btw, the original Back Door Man is this, the session where Howlin Wolf plays with Clapton and the Rolling Stones rhythm section is just an example of how things can go so wrong with pushing the concept of "a super band." They just didn't click.

I think, I disagree, and a lot, but this is certainly not the place to discuss that, and on top of that I'm also not even keen on a discussion of that.

I think this is a disagreement of a brotherhood.

"Information is not knowledge. Knowledge is not wisdom. Wisdom is not truth. Truth is not beauty. Beauty is not love. Love is not music. Music is the best."

I also think Dexter Gordon will beat the snow out of Megadeth, but that's just me

You might be right with most of that, except that Dave Mustaine and Dexter Gordon compare probably like the Green Goblin and Dick Grayson.

Michael Giacchino - Kronos Unveiled. I really like his scores for Disney and Pixar films and I certainly hope that his work for "Doctor Strange" will give us another Marvel movie with a great music selection.
