Howard Shore – The Lord of the Rings The Return of the King OST; The White Tree
I remember the first time I heard this song and the impressive scene following it on the big screen of the cinemas. Even today, whenever I listen to this song, the hair of my arms stand up. The same thing happens when I listen to Gandalf's assault on Helm's Deep, that lovely voice chanting in the end of the second movie, when there was that feeling of all hope is lost, then allies spring up out of nowhere to save you. Those scenes were powerful, and Howard Shore hit the mark.

Eddy Grant's first band. Was a hit band in Germany end of the 60s with pretty straight harmless pop music (which I've listened to at the time).
But BSBEB was really something else.

In the late 60’s, I don’t think there are strict lines between Rock, Pop, Dance Music, Protest Music, Folk... That’s one of the reasons why I love the Era so much. It’s after late 70’s when you have mainstream Rock (with Metal) completely starting to march and losing “the roll” and then you have extremely shallow Pop with syhthetic sounds and stuff like Techno which is only and only to dance and nothing more, Folk turns mostly oversentimental etc. It’s a generalization of course, but mainly, it’s like they took a beatiful creature and preserved its legs, head, eyes, heart seperately.

Yes, you can find the roots for a lot of stuff in the 60s. Also, the single charts in the 60s are pretty interesting compared to later. I like them too - was the soundtrack of my childhood and early youth.

Oingo Boingo – Just Another Day
Rock from 80s and 90s are very nostalgic. Although the movie clips, for today standards, look a tad little creepy, hohohoho.
Cidade Negra – Girassol
And a happy Brazilian reggae song, given my mood is quite as yellow as a sunflower. ^_^
Tribalistas – Carnavália
Oh, damn, I had forgotten about this trio, and some of the songs, especially this first one, has a melody which is so attached to our roots!
