I've been lurking around these forums for some time, but never bothered to make an account until today.
I basically just wanted to thank you for all the time and hard work that you put into this, as it really delights me to see that people have not abandoned Heroes VII, which I believe has the potential to eventually be up there with Heroes III Complete and Heroes V: Tribes of the East after / if the devs deliver on their promises. I suppose the June update will be very telling in whether this game has a brighter future or not.
Anyway, I really hope that the Heroes VI creature extraction will become possible eventually, as H7 would benefit greatly from some of the solid H6 models (and Sanctuary in itself, loved that faction). I was also one of the few people who really loved the Elemental Conflux back in H3, so I really hope that mod eventually sees the light of day as well. It just seems like there are so many possibilities, wish I wasn't so clueless in terms of coding

Chris... my friend, please try not to be so fixed in Ashan or Enroth or anything really. Try to see what will enrich each lineup in general.

AcidDragon mate, as for the Lurkers/Stalkers, why not give the unit teleportation? This way there is no need for a moving animation right? I don't know if the unit right now has the defend animation but supposedly it is the only one missing along with the Moving one right? If you made the unit a teleporter, then this will be fixed. As Chris said, this unit will be ranged so the times it has to move will be limited. But even so, if it has teleport it can move without the need of any animation.

I think manticores will be in the expansion, i am certain they are gonna reuse some stuff from heroes VI so manticores is a very likeable unit and has appeared in many previous games. Even in ToTE it was a neutral so i guess we will see it, thus, come june, we may use it as an alternative to Strider or Medusa.

Kappas make more sense as alternatives to Dryads as AcidDragon said because they are mostly defence/tank units like the dryads are. Also, pixie with their no retaliation and fast initiative would make them mucho more preferable over the kappas, while in all my games i tend to leave Dryad back for its defence boost. With kappas, you get to have more options as they are defensive for themselves, but with their leap ability, they can prove quite the offensive unit alongside pixie as well.

As for elite shooters, i do believe we need them but right now there are no units to really support this role. We could play with the stats of units but i don't think AC wants that. Maybe the expansion will offer more units to be used in this regard.

articun i am entitled to my tastes as everyone else in here. shut up i say
as for the beholders no need to teleport. being idle (hovering) while moving is totally  cool and won't look bad at all!
the beholders being a warfare unit, if they enter a line up their stats will be changed to anything so why not take up medusa's stats? so we will have an elite shooter after all. and panthers can pose as trogs if the stat changing isn't that of a hard task.

@Lance - Thank you for your post, especially if you made an account just to write it. Posts like that are very important for me, more important than - for example - money I could have made during the hours I spent on the mod, and tell me that I did something right .

@ChrisD1 - if I decide to go for Beholders, then as a core unit they most probably would replace Stalkers. But I have not decided yet.

@Articun - Teleportation also needs animation .

There's also a thing I would like to write about Ashan and how I see it.
Some people love Ashan and would like everything to be as close to Ashan's lore as possible going as far as to get rid of elements that resemble Enroth or Axeoth.
Then there are people who hate Ashan, who want to get rid of all Ashan elements and replace them with more traditional ones that were seen on Enroth or Axeoth.

I don't think any of those options should be a priority.
To me it doesn't really matter if this is Ashan or Enroth. Storylines should not be the only reason something is (or is not) in the game.
If something fits in a way that you simply like playing with it in terms of strategy and tactics, and you also don't see it as completely out of place (like a beautiful Unicorn in Necropolis) then for me it should be in the game. And then - after it is - someone can write a story that would explain why.

Pity about teleportation animation... I thought it would give a loophole... Unless you use the wait animation for teleportation. You check it out when you want to.
I would also urge to make beholders alternative to troglodytes.

I still don t think it is necessary for a beholder to have an animation. it can just hover to the destination.

Someone mentioned costs, i think Upgrades generally Cost an additional fixed percentage of the base costs and i think that is the best way to go for all units AS they should be equal in strengh anyway, most usual cores and elites also have the same gold costs

If beholders made it should replace the shooters, makes sense, for sake of balancing, acid can u take a look which animations are there for the healing sister? I actually adored this unit in H6 (-;

I hope you don't take our rambling and wishlist-making as something unpleasant or simply annoying. We, at least I, extremely appreciate your effort and skills. If you mean upgrade, well, Pandemonium is a nice idea, or Stormlord or Storm elemental and so on. Although skinning for it might be harder.

Well, to be honest, my fanboyish side tells me "make a Storm Elemental that can shoot!". That would be awesome. But unbalanced as hell. Stronghold can now have 3 long range units (Gnoll, Centaur, Cyclops Elder), 4 if you count the Harpy upgrade. That would give them yet another. So as much as I would like to, I'm not going there.

Still, just the look of a greyish Air Elemental, covered in yellow lightning bolts could work as an upgrade.
I have no idea what a downgrade of an Air Elemental could look like.

I don't think you can make a downgrade for any of the elementals as they are now because they are basic of what they are. Shapes of the appropriate element. So, you can only do upgrades. And yeah, a dark grey version with lightning will make a good upgrade. Instead of making it a shooter you could give it the chain ligtning ability with one use per combat though.

The storm elemental can take the centaurs'place if you want it to be balanced in the case of stronghold

I'm always happy to hear about new creatures, but if we make one upgrade we should stay consistent and make upgrade for Earth Elemental too or go even further and make upgrades for all of the alternatives.

Air Elemental could be white and transparent with blue ornaments on arms and torso. Its upgrade - Storm Elemental could look exactly how the original looks right now or could be tweaked a bit (not transparent anymore, blue and dark ).

I thought about a fire elemental 2nd option that uses the earth elemental mesh, but replace the vines on the tex with magma veins and make his glowy bits red
maybe make the stone parts on the tex dark and scorched
