Yes, that's right, but I don't want to change drastically already established creatures. Changing a creature level and completely changing its stats would be too much in my opinion. But technically, yes, it is possible. You could even have a "core" Earth elemental with 10 HP. But that is not something I'm going to do.

You would have to ask the author for specifics, but as far as I know, indeed he plans to have no core creatures and yes, that is a psychic / magic elemental.

You could of course make derivative creatures. Leave the currently existing ones unaltered and simply add new ones based on the same model (though maybe scaled differently) if you want to add them to other tiers. "Flaming Spark" or "Inferno Overlord" or something like that as derivatives from the base Fire Elemental.

Interesting. Wonder how they'll attack, since magic elemental from Heroes III revealed his, ah, "intimate spots".

He didn't, I did (I have diffrent nick in AC). In simple words I use Noesis with this script (copy it to plugins/python) from this forum. It isn't perfect. It doesn't import animation and skeleton is quite messed.

BTW I don't if it need explanation, but KUREK want to recreate Conflux fraction with Phoenix and Magic Elemental as Champion. Maybe it should have it own topic?

Efreet to Academy like others have said, as far as I know the story involves wizards drawing the powers of djinn resulting in being absorbed by them and turned chaotic. It's way better than having it in Stronghold.

Air Elemental and Earth Elemental to Stronghold, goes hand in hand with their magic inclination to earth and air, or mother earth and father sky as the orcs say. Stronghold still gets to have one flier alternative, but gets another melee instead of a shooter. Given their physically offensive nature, I'd take that trade.

Mermaid or more preferable the Sea Elf to Sylvan. The white tiger is a good fit. The earth elemental also, but there's not too many options left. I'd favor the Mermaid for having another shooter alternative, though the Sea Elf fits more because of the same race.

Just my 2 cents.


the other side of this is that efreeti as chaotic and fiery as they are, look good with stronghold and their demon blood, alongside the desert theme.
air elementals are perfect for academy since academy  is the unofficial "air" faction, built in the skies and all.
stronghold does not possess the magic to control elementals in my opinion.

@AcidDragon
can you bring war machines into play? as units and put units in their places? i guess it needs changing the stats but if and when it's done it would be great! apart from fixing the dungeon faction, some people could at least enjoy the unicorn and the deer could go as a mount.

I thought about working with War Machines, but I have my objections. This would mean that we would have two different unit types with basically the same graphics. We would have to "pretend" that a Faceless is a war machine or an elite unit with different stats and abilities, depending on the context.

As for Unicorns - I did experiment with them a bit, but they lack crucial animations (like the attack one) and when I tried to apply Moon Doe animations to the Unicorn model the result looked like something with a broken neck and hanged by the rings that are present on the side of Unicorn's mane. So for now, I don't have an idea how to make them into a true creature. But it is not impossible.

I meant exchange units. for example we could have the stalker as a warfare unit and the evil eye in its place. or the medusa as warfare unit casting a debuff and the faceless in her place. But you said you don't experiment with stat changes so it's ok grat work though and i like how i have the choice among the units you selected to replace. I mean i can have the white tiger but i get to keep my sundeers if i want and so on. good job again!

Nice to see that global modding is a thing. Heroes 7 uses Unreal Engine 3 right? I am suspecting you guys are using the Unreal 3 SDK for global modding?

@ChrisD1 In theory it could be possible, but I don't think I want to go there. Though at some point I could try. Personally I like Lurkers and Faceless and would like to see them as creatures, if something else could be made into Dungeon war machines.

@Pim18 Yes, Unreal 3 is the engine, but you don't really need anything else besides the H7 editor. Of course side programs come in handy, like UE Viever for batch exporting textures and such, but the H7 editor is enough for making new assets for the game (or rather: copying, modifying and repacking them).

medusa could take the faceless' place and for an attacking warmachine  a stalker assisting from the shadows could do but no upgrades :/
btw when you use color coding (units take the color you chose for your faction) it works for the elemental too! haven t tested the others!

Thanks to the help of one of our members, dvoytek, I manged to add Succubi (unupgraded Lilim) to the game. Fun fact - their files were already in the game. They were just missing a few details like stats.
I also wanted to have Radiant Glories so basically I just recoloured the Light Elemental and made a new unit out of it.

Now this may not seem like much but it shows that adding (not replacing) a new, fully functional creature in H7 is quite easy. Of course it depends on how much time do you want to spend on graphics, animation, particles and such, but technically if you have a set of graphics and animation then adding a creature is like... 15 minutes? How I wish we had that kind of possibilities back in WoG days...

You probably don't remember Heroes 5 and its mods. They were released as soon as game was published, still unfinished and bugged.
Some were minor (like changing word "enought" to "enough" or adding text boxes), other were more important.
When one mod added hero inventory screen (because there was none at begining), Ubival suddenly added their own in later patch. When another fan created random map generator, Tribes of the East get one too.

I think sometimes Ubisoft&co. need right "push" (shown what can be done with their own products), before they even think about adding/changing anything.

I wasn't at the time of the development, so I really wouldn't know. But, at least, it did show that devs did see those features as important and had made them through official patches. Unlike today, that is.

We can import models and textures from H6, but right now there seems to be a problem with animations.

Is there any way for kappa to get its upgrade and names back as well? Kappa could fit well as an alternative to sylvan core for now. Also if it can get the jump ability back it will be nice.

Also, is there any chance to change the abilities of the normal units? For example medusa lacking the mobile shooter but gaining the heart of darkness ability and stalker the mobile shooter? And strider getting something else?

as for the textures for unupgraded units it's just mindblowing! good job and lets show this job to those devs with their "can't do" attitude!!
