I think designing a new skill (if that's what you meant by increasing the number of skills) is theoretically possible. But hard. Right now I'm having problems creating a very simple ability for a creature and in total there are hundreds of options and settings to consider.

Adding more skill levels (as in: grand grand grandmaster) is probably not possible.

acid, did u notice the mermaid doesnt have a visual effect when her water ability hits the target? any Chance u can fix it?

I will take a look, but I'm pretty sure there is a subtle visual effect there. Just not as grand as the Nova blast.

EDIT: no, you are right, no effect whatsoever. I'll try to add "something".

would be awesome (: would be a shame if we get a brand new mermaid with no Animation on her skill, it really turns me off when i use her, totally breaks the Illusion, maybe u can give her the Animation of a spell like water ring? good luck (:

Is it possible for the upgraded white tiger to look like this:


And be called a Cu Sith?
The extra ability could be either unlimited retaliation or regeneration or earth resistance

If not, then it can be green with yellow stripes and orange or bluish orbs around it like the Treant has.

Also, another good idea would be to use the griffin with colors tweaked plus a new upgrade to be the alternative of blade dancer

Maybe these colors?

I just talked to Oakwarrior from Limbic about this. This is a bug, it is known and it will be fixed in a patch (just not sure which patch). In the meantime, I may add the water ring effect indeed, as there don't seem to be any Splash animations/effects in the game files.

I'm not a graphic artist, so all I can say is that I can't make that, but there are people who think a White Tiger upgrade would be a good idea and started working on it, so maybe someone will go for that idea. Personally, I don't think that upgrading a White Tiger to a Green Tiger looks good.

Currently the White Tigers are the alternatives to Blade Dancers. While I don't think we really need more Griffins, I guess a lot depends on the graphics.

Faceless are now "functional", but their textures are being worked on. I'll post them once they're ready.

They will replace Darkness Elementals (so Elemenals will be neutral again) as the alternatives to Minotaurs.
They will have their "attack and return" ability, less hit points than Minotaurs, but will deal more damage.

I may have gone too far indeed. Blame the excitement for this project. I will try to tone down the posts.

I only had in mind a more common ground between Heroes IV and Heroes VII in suggesting the Griffins, as they were an alternative to Unicorns and they could be a flyer in Sylvan elite tier since the faction only has two shooters and two core flyers.
-The Green version for the tiger was only an idea in order to bring a  mythological unit that is associated with the forest to sylvan but will hush it.

I eagerly await the next version of the mod. Is there any ETO?

thnks for replying to each and every one of us. btw is it possible the faceless to keep their warmachine ability to the upgrade? and maybe cast it only onto the striders?

Hey, dont't get my comment the wrong way . I try to welcome all suggestions and not bash any ideas, but I just try to be clear about what I can or cannot do personally, as well as give my own thoughts. But the beautiful part of modding is that it's fully optional and people can make, install and share the things they like, but are not necessarily popular with others. So even if I don't personally share your opinions, it doesn't mean the idea is bad and won't make it into the game.

I don't have a date for the next patch version, but I can say that I'm a bit behind the graphics. So I need to technically add new dwellings, creature stats, texts in two languages and such. I wasted quite a few hours trying to add a simple new creature ability (Weakness, -5 attack) but this is the actual reason I talked to Oakwarrior earlier today, so thanks to him, that's solved. Anyway, I'll try to make it "as soon(tm) as possible".

You will still have Faceless as War Machines (they will however be renamed as Faceless Overseers). But also new Faceless as creatures.

I dont think so. that would leave dungeon only with one shooter(and a core one), while changing a melee with a flying melee unit makes more sense gameplay wise(like for example griffins over wolf)
 But the good thing with alt units is that you can pick the one you like more so if you prefer striders you pick striders if you want to pick the other alternative for change go for it(both units are still in the game )
The most important thing for me is that every choice should have pros and cons. None alt creature should overpower the other in every aspect(atk def health dmg, price) and i think they did very good job

Manticores might be coming with the new expansion, who knows, and we shall see what other new or reused neutrals they might throw in. Which means more units for our dear friends to play with and recolor/reskin and change abilities and also add them to Factions.

About the Manticore now. Usually, the idea is to have an even number of fliers and archers in a town, meaning that if a town has 2 shooters and 2 flyers, this ratio will be kept throughout all factions but may be changed to 3 shooters - 1 flyer, 1 shooter - 3 flyers and so on. This means that their role is similar, they can reach an enemy faster and move through obstacles. So Manticore as an alternative to Medusa is not wrong.

But, the Manticore has always been a stronger unit than Minotaur in previous games, where Minotaur was a tank. In Heroes VI we have seen the Minotaur gain in power and tier position to strong elite. Even with that, i wouldn't wanna see this unit fall so low as to be the weaker elite, a place Medusa holds right now.

To be honest, the stats of elite units should in general be revisited. Playing the game these past few days, i have noticed that Blade Dancers, Wyverns and even striders, the medium strength elites fall way way easily in combat. This might be due to the hit points or even the defence value, i don't know, but there should be some tweaking done to increase their effectiveness. Their abilities mean nothing if they die from shooters before they reach their target. Also, furthering my observbation, the elites should in general be a bit stronger in stat distribution than core units, meaning that there should be at least 10-15 points allocated more than the strong core of each faction.

Articun, i agree that elite units need some balancing...
Your statement that shooters and flyers have similar role though is wrong. Fast flyers actually are the best way to block enemy shooters, while shooters damaging from distance are better for a defencive approach but both are usefull ofc in their own way
Also there is no faction with more flyers than shooters

True, claculating them again, there is always one more shooter or are at the same number. Except haven and dungeon.
