Minotaur's abilities and specials

As I believe I've seen some unsatifaction concerning the minotaur's abilities in Heroes VII, I thought that I would touch on it and share my thoughts.

Firstly, the minotaur's specials in H7 are wrong. Not as in they are bad, both preemptive strike and no retaliation are great and useful abilities, but I believe most of us would agree that they do not fit it to some degree.

However it is worth noticing that the minotaur never had any real stable abilities. The most iconic ability, bravery, for it first came in H3 (with no abilities in H1 & H2), for being changed again in H4 and only returning again in H5. Other noticable abilities is H4's block, H5's double attack, and preemptive stike, however Preemptive strike is the only other minotaur ability to have been present in more than one game.

As I mentioned before, I think preemptive strike is actually a great and useful ability, as it is the perfect counter toward all tactic involving trying to kill the minotaur before it can retaliate. All around a great defencive ability that shouldn't be brushed off as merely "Ashan-trash"

Finally, I would like to come with a minor suggestion. If a future heroes game where to have multiple upgrades, it would be great if one had preemptive strike, while the other had the double attack or even the block ability. But all of them should have bravery, bravery is a great ability and shame on the H7 devs for not give the minotaur it.

I like their morale special, they are indomitable fighters that are not afraid I find pre-emptive strike a rather silly ability for such a unit, I'll take an offensive mino over a tank mino any day of the week. The gap is somewhat bridged in H7 but still.. Slapping two abilities like that to a unit doesn't feel right. Makes it feel cheap.

I prefer them kinda balanced in defense/offense. powerful hits but still beefy enough to stand on it's own. it should be someone you can solo with, so to speak. Its weakness should be it's speed and it's powerful stats is there to make up for its inability to get to the fight very quick.

above average in both offense and defense but not very fast in either initiative or speed.

and the H7 ability is pretty bonkers by witch I mean it's kinda crap. double attack and bravery are good abilities witch both help it being that "one man army" I would consider it's perfect role.

Well the morale ability should be a main one for the minotaur regardless, even though it is one of those abilities I think that more creatures could have without it being overkill.

I also understand the appeal of an offencive minotaur, because what is better to crush the enemy than a big, bulky bullheaded man?
However beyond H5's double attack the minotaur have not really have much offencive abilities (unless you want to go into H6 terratory). Despite it's usefulness the double attack is far from unique to the minotaur.

In MM7, together with the Wyvern and the Titan, the most powerful version of the Minotaur has an ability similar to that of the HoMM 3 Mighty Gorgon. Sadly not the case in MM8.
