Michael Phelps races parallel to a shark, viewers surprised and pissed after being told that this is a simulation 57 mins in

[People are upset that the producers of a cable tv show decided not to put the most decorated olympian ever into an actual race with an actual Shark, because why?]

Hahaha this is too good! Because anyone would race a shark for kicks and the shark would totally follow the race rules. People can't be that gullible, can they?

yes, they absolutely can.

a supposed non-criminal aims gun at cops, and guess what. he dies.

cops go to wrong house because they're stupid, and man points gun at cops because HE'S stupid:

Quote:
SOUTHAVEN, Miss. — An officer-involved shooting that fatally injured a man in Mississippi is under investigation after it is believed police went to the wrong address looking for a suspect.

Prosecutor John Champion said Monday that Southaven Police Department officers on Sunday were looking for a man in relation to an aggravated domestic violence case under investigation by another agency.

Officers may have gone to the wrong house, Champion said, adding that the man who died, an auto mechanic, had no warrants for his arrest.

"He was not wanted for anything at all," said Champion.

On Monday, Champion provided the following rough account of what happened:

Two officers were at a Southaven, Miss., home about 11:30 p.m. Sunday and a pit bull dog burst out of the house, prompting one of the officers to shoot at it.

Then a man pointed a gun at officers through an open door, Champion said. The officers repeatedly warned him to put the gun down before one of them opened fire. Champion believed one officer shot at the dog, while the other shot at the man.

A gun was found at the scene, Champion said.

you don't say? a gun was found at the scene of someone who owned a pit bull? this world is so CRAZY! so that means the journalist counts as a retard, too.

my question at this point should be obvious: who the hell is this "other agency"? the story definitely raises some questions.

regardless, i find it hard to believe the account of the other resident, because they ALWAYS say that the person who was killed by cops never did anything wrong. they're ALWAYS stand-up people that get killed by cops, by everyone else's account. it's difficult to believe that cops are ALWAYS evil snows. simply because i've seen proof that a lot of these people killed by cops, are actually criminals. go fig. not saying that most cops aren't horrible people, because they are. just like lawyers, judges, politicians, etc. but call a spade a spade, damnit. the cops aren't the ONLY bad guys.

lastly, fun fact: i used to know a hispanic dude with a pit bull named coco. i wonder if it was the same guy? i don't think i ever knew his real name(he went by his street name, if i remember correctly), but i sure as hell remember his rambunctious dog. the guy was certainly a criminal, but the dog was just ornery as all get out.

The whole thing is just random. But if he pointed a gun to the cops, we was probably not just a stressed, innocent man. But.. they shot the dog? Didn't they have a club or were they just trigger happy? How exactly did the dog burst out, was the door already open or did he open the door on the cops with a dog loose in there? And why the hell is there even a doubt that they got to the wrong address? Didn't they have a clear destination? Why were they there if in was another agency's job?

This is wrong in so many ways that I don't know where to start.

And you believe that the cops might not have been evil?! I'm losing my mind here!

Oh, we have people over here who died to cops by their own stupidity as well. People who disregard a stop order and race off high speed ... only to fold their car around a tree or something. Or a year or two ago, a few days after a terrorist attack, a guy at some festival taunted the police he was carrying a gun (pointing to his crotch, really funny, dude!) and the police didn't take chances so they wanted to arrest him. He refused to surrender and submit for inspection, which caused the police to take him down with physical force (no guns or batons) with like 5 cops. He resisted the hold they had on him, which caused him to get strangled by accident.

But hey, his family now blames the cops for having used lethal violence and actually went to court to get the names of the cops involved.

Was that a gun or was he happy to see them They were right to take action but how do you accidentally strangle someone? I don't suppose they held back under possible threat of a gun but didn't they have the training to restrain a man without getting him killed?

Unless he did it on purpose! That showed them, ha!

Dunno, you'd say they have. They used a neck brace to pacify him while they tried to put cuffs on him, but because he resisted being held like that, the neck brace ended up being applied more tightly than it should have and he choked to death.

Anyway, his own stupid mistake. If he had just listened to the order to stand down and have the body search, he would still be alive.

the thing that gets me is, both sides are horrible. one the one side, you have ignorant people that want to fight every cop out there; especially after they broke a law. they somehow feel entitled to not face punishment for any wrongdoing, like they think they are politicians, businessmen, cops or something.

then, there's the morally bereft cops themselves.

you know, if you can put yourself in the shoes of a cop, you'll realize that you'll be facing a snow-ton of horrible people who lie with their every breath. even if you're a good cop, you'll turn to the dark side eventually, simply by dealing with what you have to deal with. if all you deal with is the underside of society(or just plain liars during traffic stops; which is the bulk of a beat cops' job), you're going to develop a hatred of the common populace. so, really, why would anyone want to be a cop? they would HAVE to understand, beforehand, what they'd be dealing with(adults with their hands in the cookie jar, so to speak); especially if they took half an hour of their time to watch even ONE episode of "cops".

if you're a cop, and you wanted to be a cop, then that means that you wanted to be employed in the equivalent of cleaning out stalls in a barn. and not even that, because in every stall, there could be a rattlesnake waiting to kill you. and for what?

for what? to push laws on an largely unwelcoming and hostile and/or stupid public? laws that the lawmakers THEMSELVES don't even believe in or follow? really, if you want to be a cop, or are a cop, then you're automatically put on the darwin award list. not even kidding. you've automatically just gone full retard. "to protect and serve", lol. all you protect, is the corrupt. all you serve, is those who treat you like cannon fodder, both from above, and below you. you don't even prevent violence, ffs. you're the clean-up crew for violence, after it has already happened. at least, for the most part. rarely do you clowns ever get to stop some deviltry in the making. and what's worse? the REAL deviltry comes from those above you. who you don't even get to BOSS AROUND.

lol. cops.

Not so sure about that. Just a few days ago cops shot an unarmed woman in her pyjamas, and not so long ago another similar case. Cops are too trigger happy in US but what can you do. Maybe something like this ;P

i think cops are just as susceptible to what's happening to the public, as everyone else. this increased hostility, is due to diet(sodium, and the hormones), the hyper-inflation of the ego in the age of technology(read: opinions on the internet and the special-snowflake diversity issues everyone has to choose from), and to media agendas that do everything they can to divide and conquer us.

the hair-trigger reaction thing, is part of our technological society, and the fact that americans have been taught to actually LIKE reacting strongly to even the slightest provocation.

*sigh* people with anger issues aren't even special anymore.

Well, here in the Netherlands the cops actually try to be your best friend, rather than the guy/girl you shouldn't mess with. The number of times the cops draw a gun and shoot, they're mostly warning shots, in the air. In the few cases that doesn't work, they aim for the knees. Body shots are far and few in between and casualty rate due to police guns is at an all time low - even if the general population sometimes wonders why they don't pull their gun more frequently, especially when the lives of those cops (or that of other, innocent people) are being threatend by a nutcase.

Weed is tolerated, though the production is not. It's kinda backwards that way, since we were pretty much the first nation in the world where the recreational use was condoned but now a fair number of other nations have already regulated the production as well and here in the Netherlands that's still illegal. There's some movement happening now to finally legalise it fully, though I think that's still a ways off before it's finally embedded in the law.

Drugs (mostly XTC) are used at numerous large scale parties and events and they even provide stands where you can test the quality, although using that stuff is also forbidden. Their argument is that they can't reduce it to 0, no matter how hard they try so they prefer that whatever they can't catch, is at least "safe" for the user (and not destroying their liver or brain or whatever in the process).

In Netherlands 5 police cars can come to broken window pane and police officers can be reluctant to take care of always troublemaking guys...when you call police they can pretend to not understand your English...if you come for an appointent on police station officer at entrence can tell you that you should not be here...
your computer with pictures of clouds and you and your child in pants on beach playing rackets can be remotely locked (sign of police and picture of Dutch King on blocking label) and considered as pedophilia unless you remotely pay 100euro...
