Well Wales has been completely underwhelming. How on earth Belgium managed to lose to this side is still a mystery.

Well, there goes the Wales dream. Still a Hell of an accomplishment to go so deep into the tournament.

@FuChris: 2 Wins 1 Draw if we include the qualifiers. In any case Belgium woes go beyond losing that particularly match.

Crap game. Final is tomorrow.
Winner will probably lose against Portugal because it will be a bad case of a premature climax, CR7 will gloat about successfully enough.

Have sent my national football association a mail sketching replacement for the darn overtime + penalty shootout lottery. After 90 minutes let every TM take a player out. After 5 minutes playing time the next player is taken off. And so on. Until a team makes a goal.

Great game so far but that was a bullsh*t penalty if I have ever seen one. Favoritism for the home side.

ITALIAN referee.
Still, the goal is good for the game.

Good game from France.
Even if it took a shifty penalty, a rare mistake from Neuer and a (not so)little help from Lady Luck but in the end they deserved the win. The injuries really didn't help Germany.
With a full team they would have won but it was not meant to be...

Did I watch the same match than everybody else?

The penalty was very clear, Schweinsteiger 'jumped' with the arms above his head and body, not that different from Boateng's against Italy imo. He shouldn't go to a challenge like that.

Barring the first 6-8 minutes, Germany was in total control of the game on the first half, they definitely deserved more from it, but France started to create a few chances on the last minutes of said half (mostly through the boots of, you guessed, Griezman). On the second half, however, France stepped up their game and with the goal advantage nullified Germany, with the exception of some admitedly very clear chances from afar.
Griezman's second goal came from a terrible mistake from one of Germany defenders (Mustafi perhaps?), who didn't control a ball inside the box but rather left it in the middle of it, easy to take by a french player!! Neuer did made a failed attempt at pushing away the ball, but had the defender kicked the ball away in first place none of them would had happened.

Germany was great in the first half, but not so much in the second. Özil was nowhere to be seen, nor Götze for that matter. Giroud was bad for France too btw.

Now, the match could have been totally different had the ref awarded Germany a penalty in the minute ~10 or so - a french player (Pogbá?) tripped Kroos when he was entering the box. Germany failed to make the comeback, but had they've been on the lead from minute 10...

In any case, this game proved Griezman is among the very best in the world. What a damn fine player Atletico has

France didn't deserve to go through, ref was obviously biased.

That said, F#CK YEAH FRANCE!

It's more a case of refs usually not awarding penalties for accidental hand balls from such a short distance 8 out of 10 times even if by the letter of the law they should every time.

Aye, refs don't usually award accidental handballs, but this is not the case at all.

Incident in slow motion gif: arm outstreched, above his head, intercepting Evra's header. You can't argue against that.

I consider it a very weird decision by the UEFA to let an Italian referee lead the match when one of the two teams involved sent the Italian team home in the previous round. It's a matter of integrity, which simply made this choice appear weird. Personally, I felt he was whistling somewhat in favor of France, against Germany.

Germany should have won, they played the better match. But alas, they didn't translate that dominance to goals, which is a prerequisite to continue to the next round .

I, too, think, that the ref led the game in that way that he for one thing chose not to see the foul on Kroos (which I saw an inch outside the penalty box), but give the penalty against Germany AND awarding a lot of yellow cards against Germany, but:
We didn't score a goal against France, and ultimately, if you want to make a strong case of going to the final of a championship you have to start scoring one goal more than opponent.
Obviously Hummels and Gomez (a real striker) were missing. When Boateng went out, Mustafi was in no way an adequate replacement. Götze was non-existent, except for crowding the left side for no effect, and while Sane brought some speed, Schweinsteiger was clearly NOT the player to pick to go. I think that Kimmich showed his limitations.

All in all? Deserved French victory. Griezmann should have scored with his first shot on goal (the one Neuer saved very early), then things would have been doubt-free. We had no one on the pitch who might score.

It started in the Italy v. Germany game. All the yellow cards there, the penalty - just to make them play 120 mins... Lets hope Portugal can punish the hosts now...

Ramsey wasn't there. Without him Wales is just Bale + some running people. With Ramsey they are team.

This looks very much like it's going to go to penalties.
This Portugal side looks very much like the Brazil side 2 years ago. Not all that impressive and too focused around Ronaldo/Neymar. But they probably won't crumble that badly. Probably gonna start aiming for the counterattack...
