The UK has too many elections.

When you make a choice, just stick with it for a solid 4 years. What's the worst that could happen?

I do enjoy watching the squabbling of other governments.  It makes me appreciate that the American government is not unique in it's pettiness.

UK government doesn't squabble, is only cucks feeling doomed that their islamic fervor has been (again) delayed. UK (and US btw) are doing great, wish I could say same thing about France.

If you ignore the fact that if you were to include healthcare premiums with taxes, we are technically the most taxed country in the world other than the Netherlands.

I don't pay anything.

For a family it can easily run past $1000.

And how much you think it costs in France? Because I feel there is a myth ongoing there. It is zero for very low incomes, thats about 8% of population, while all others are taxed up to 13% from their income.
Then it does not include dental and eye care, also it gives only 70% back thus a private insurance is needed anyway (we call them complementary). The privates insurances are starting at 60 euros/month, a good one paying half of dental care is above 120 euros/month.

Now calculate on a median salary (2500 euros), 13% + lets say 80 euros/month for complementary (this is what I have for example), that makes 325 + 80 = 405 euros. Which is 450 dollars.

x 12 = 5400 $$ annually, for one person. Isn't great the "gratuity" of French world-wide reputed health care system?

here you can see (at the top) the percentage taxes for health care, 13% or 7%.

7% is for salaries under 1500, which is ~15% of population. All others are taxed at 13%.

Dont know about France, but last summer, an American relative of mine showed me a simple stich in his hand and told me it had cost 5000 dollars. That sounds insane here.

Well, anyone from Europe that got sick in the US always has an horror story to tell. Like my cousin, got a simple fever and went to the doctor, worst decision ever, he had to ask his parents from Switzerland to bail him out of debt, since it costed in the thousands apparently, and he couldn't leave the US otherwise.

Similar story about another Swiss in the US, who had a stroke while there, and well, can you deny being treated for a stroke? The guy got a parcel so high that we wondered whether he had a second stroke after reading it.

Funnily enough, it's not that the state pays for everything here, there are still treatments you're going to pay for yourself, but they don't reach the exorbitant prices of the US, like, the most I've payed is 90€ for a dental reconstruction, and I don't have any state incentives for my medical bills.

There is no such thing as "state paying for you" in Europe. The state does not have any money, all it gets is from taxing its citizens under various forms. At least USA is on spot and not hypocrite - you are the one responsible for your medical bills.

Taxes? Now that's a foreign concept, I thought every state financed welfare with debt!

Besides, isn't this a bit on topic actually? Wasn't there a rumor that the Tories will privatize the NHS?

Well, it’s not just a matter of whether it’s state funded welfare or insurance or you directly paying. A stich costing 5000 dollars is the insane part in itself and there must be something wrong about the way they operate on their budget if such basic stuff is equal to the price of a used car. Look at Cuba, Cuba is poor as hell, they are as poor as it gets but if you get a heartattack there, even as a tourist, they can afford to treat you for free.
