Is that a joke? Come on now, might heroes can find the same spells and on top of casting them they can 1 hit KO mage troops.

Exactly, if I had waited to open a certain box with Corkes I would have waited another week or lost the level 5 spells but Dracon could learn Fly and DD immediatly, late week two. If one of your magic heroes has Intelligence and can TP, DD and Fly and your migthy main can't, who gets to do the fighting?

The problem in that example is that pandoras with 5th level spells are very rarely found week 2, to say never. Of course if I make a map where in order to get out of starting town, you have to open a pandora with town portal in, Adelaide is my choice, but that doesn't mean I would recommend Adelaide to anyone.

Examples and mechanics discussions should be done on the standard maps.

I didn't put the box there, at the most I gave player conditions to take it sooner. But you're right, mechanics gets affected by very small changes.

Well, it still confirms what I've said. Random map modified to custom map.

Also, I made the changes to explore Diplomacy against enhanced growth and resource bonus, most people here never play with it. This changes a lot of things.

Imo in Campaigns, espiacially timed ones or maps with a lot of different points to defend, magic heroes, and espiacally intelligence spec heroes rule

but to me, only one campaign is that retarded (the one where you have to conquer stedwick?? in 3 month)

before i use a magic hero, i might consider scouting hero (fiona etc)

In campaigns you transfer prim. attr (and what else is tied to the hero), not armies, so there I'd say power and knowledge is better than att and def.

Crag Hack with Stronghold troops of course, with Tower troops Gremlins, Mages and Titans won't benefit from offense, unless they go to melee that is.

What he asked you was to name another hero better than Crag Hack when leading tower hand to hand units.

You think so?, maybe, but I would prefer Orrin to Crag Hack with Tower troops. Crag Hack is not good with Tower troops.

Yes Orrin is also an excellent choice. However, if day one I had them both, I think I would go for Crag. Would be interesting to do a test on same map, same player, two starts and compare week 3 casualties, primary skills, monsters killed, etc.

But your Titans won't benefit from Offense with Crag Hack, unless you walk straight into the face of the enemy. Every other level 7 unit will benefit from Offense, but not Titans. But very early game Titans are strong enough to hold their own, still Crag Hack seems like a weird choise for Tower units imo.

Yes but here it depends what style of game you're playing. If single, I would always take Orrin, if MP I would take Crag, as the first week, which is decisive, you have no choice but ignore everything which shoots, then hit hard to get the resources for those expensive titans.

Salamandre gets it!

"not even that good" while Crag (best frontal fight hero, or simply put the best might hero) combined with Tower troops (the top tier castle for raw power) means there is nothing stronger.

Also Titans might be ranged, there's a HUGE chance you'll get blocked turn 1 by a flier/ mass haste troop. And the offense bonus will prove crazy.

An unblocked Blessed Titans, Mirror Imaged Titan, does extreme ranged damage.

Crag/Tower is probably the strongest combo for raw power in the game, everything considered.

On topic: I think Solmyr is a good magic starting hero, you can use chain lightning to clear monsters quickly which other heroes could not so early in the game (like pesky marksmen). This makes you able to snowball the map.

This might be a considerable when playing on impossible difficulty on a low-resource map...

The phrase 'good magic starting hero' does not compute.

It does: Terek. Also Gundula and Dessa but is arguable they are magic oriented heroes.

They are less bad than the others. That does not make them good, or viable starting heroes.

Battle Mage are hybrid heroes, not spellpower/knowledge oriented.

Same as the diplomacy "magic" heroes like Adela. Their main focus is their trait/ starting skills.
