They have removed the sporadic 2x shard drops and replaced them with weekly one-time floor prizes. In addition, all common and rare creatures in the battle tower are always at a 2x drop rate, permanent buddy

Change isn't always bad Rak and I hope when you have time to sit with the game you get a better feel for everything. Battle Tower itself put such a smile on my face that I was walking around giddy since my choice of creatures and actions in battle had much greater impact on the outcome 
It does suck about the excess energy still being lost at level up but really most games that use energy to meter out how much one can play the game are like that right? I haven't come across too many mobile games that don't do it. We just feel the dissatisfaction more because of our RL schedules. Chin up 
The new Dungeon Challenges, as I understand it, won't be allowing players to obtain prizes in all tiers (Bronze, Silver, Gold) thus depriving those in each from reaching the better ranks. This should allow those Sticker / Avenger players to stay out of your way
VIP updates help the devs enhance the game and keep it going for us. Without them enticing P2W players, which are like live-beta testers for us, then we'd be inundated with ads and premature closure; nobody wants that. Those paying for those VIP updates will kinda show us which creatures are good investments and which are not simply by what they maintain in their teams. We just wait them out and they do our future strategic planning. They'll always stay as annoying as we let them but we'll never become worse if we keep an even keel, accept our limitations and be grateful for our successes achieved with less effort expended 
The Battle Tower may have had good points but there should always be room for improvement and evolution. The prizes awarded for our weekly rankings will be based on how well (and yes, how much) we earn points and with so many varied methods that its just gravy baby. Players won't be taking any points away from us, like in Dungeon Challenge, but those playing more will stretch out the reward tiers further. This actually could be good as it should allow us to be rewarded more accurately for the effort we put in to it. Hopefully not dropping from top 25 to top 100 because of last minute pushes since all those VIPs should be spending more time (and money) battling each other in Gold tier Dungeon Challenge 
Granted, for those of us with limited play time we may not be able to take more advantage of all the areas to apply our energy but its better that they're there. When I completed Battle Tower lvl 50 and couldn't progress farther, I was disappointed. I saw it as a dead end, a derelict road left to waste due to poor city planning and we don't want that. We want the question of, 'Where should I spend my energy this week", "What section best helps me round out my team". Resource management is one of our keys to the keeping up in the fast lane 
Personally, I hate PvP and it's the main reason I stopped playing Hearthstone; along with most (and some very good) CCG style games. HS was giving me heart palpitations and anxiety when playing the ranked battles and unranked was just pointless.
I'm not sure what the 90 diamonds thing is now. I don't remember but wasn't that the reward for linking the game to our FB or Google Play accts? Perhaps they're just talking about that again 
I'm not the best against Phoenixes but two stun/silencers, high hp, cleanse and 2-3 saved mana balls on healer works on them almost all the time ya? I can't beat them all after the first fire blast but by the rebirth enough HP creatures should still be standing to finish it off

Is there now any limit to how often you can get the boss creature from the event quest? Two days ago I received two sirens, but since then I fought the boss about 8x on prince and 10x on king and got no chest drop from her :-( is this just bad luck?

So, since they added the leagues I'm ascending a lot faster in the dungeon challenge, I may still be in bronze, but at least I find mostly weak defenses.
Hopefully, my defenses are strong against the level of players I'm against.

Ive noticed since the update drop rate for epics in the quest have fallen.. i farm on king and before patchits 85-90% drop rate.. now its around 40%.. had to restart battle several times before a chest drop

10 Kills later I still got no siren  I've spent all of my saved energy packs and some diamonds on her ... this is so frustrating...

Yeah drop rates seem crippled King earlier nearly always rewarded an epic and all the times a rare - now the chances look halved.
Bummer, especially considering HUGE energy consumption of the event map.

Seems like a lot of ppl been noticing lowered drop rates too.
I just got to King last night but had to switch quests for evolve mats so I won't see if I'm effected for awhile.

King never guaranteed a drop for me (neither a rare) but I agree that the droprate seens abmyssal so far. 0/5 beetles. Got some kangaroos and kobolds though (low dots ).

I'm trying to get a beetle on Prince but nothing dropped after 15 tries. Got one on Lord on 3rd try.

So, I'm the first Kreegan to beat Level 51 of the battle tower and looks like 6th or 7th total. Though my team used 2 rares and an epic to do it.
Bow before me, mortals. 
Of course my reward for this deed was a 2 dot epic. -.-

Sadly not much time to play since the update for me, I did the quest twice and had one 2 dots beetle.
I'm still stuck at lvl 50 with the Archangel but I haven't tried everything I can yet.
And gratz Dulkan.

Don't forget that if the beetle box doesn't drop on round 2, you can always bail out in round 3 and save a map clear.

just so everyone knows you can get 5 free diamonds from the shop for watching a 30 second ad. I think it happens every 12 hours or so
