Hello guys,
I have applied to join the guild without knowing you are homm fans. To be honest, I found this this thread by looking for a way to contact the hc kreegans leadership. But... since I am here, I want to say that I was a big homm3 fan and I used to play a lot of sod during college. Two years ago I bought on steam homm3 HD. Do any of you guys have it? If yes, do you organize gaming nights?

Hello and welcome to another fellow MM fan! 
You might want to have a look at the homm3 section (h3.5 -wog and beyond), there is a fanmade hdmod compatible with sod as well as a fanmade expansion called Horn of the Abyss, be sure to check it out.
There is also hundreds of mods for Wog and VCMI 
Yes kreegans are the aliens with a devil-like appearance in the series, I will get you into the guild soon, hang in there!

Thank you Galaad. Damn... there is a lot to read on these forums. Unfortunately, more than I have to read at the moment  . However, I would like to try the gameplay in Horn of the Abyss. I hope it will work with my HOMM3 Complete version

I know Mantastic's tier lists aren't exactly the ultimate authority, but they seem fairly well reasoned and thought out. And I just have to say, damn... apart from my Colossus and Phoenixes, nearly every Legendary I've gotten so far is either C or D rank. Feels bad, man.

I have HoMM 3 Complete (GOG) and HotA works flawlessly. Also works with HoMM HD mod. It's a quality campaign, though a bit too short. (more like WoG campaign, but with a much better story)

I like to listen to audioboks while playing. Is there any way to turn off the sound in homm3? Turning it off from the game interface doesn't seem to work...

Have you seen the new list out on 23rd I think...has legendary threw commons. Not sure how others feel about his ranking system though

I have yeah, it's pretty frustrating that I mostly seem to get 3 and 4 dot creatures of lower tiers.
I have a grand total of one 3 dot A ranked Epic flier and three 3 dot A ranked Epic walkers. The rest are C or below. It's a similar story for the other rarities as well.
Just gotta keep faith that I'll get the good stuff one day.

Most of my Legendaries are fairly new, and I'm still working on getting the gems & materials to level and evolve them. I'm hoping to get them all maxed out eventually (though only going to bother awakening the better ones).
I know I have a decent array of creatures already so I shouldn't really complain so much, but I can't help be a pessimist

Hey your creatures are not that bad.
Anyway there is no right or wrong in this game, even if some creatures are objectively stronger than others, the most important aspect is how you use them, inferior creatures put together with a well-thought out synergy will grant better results than strongest blindly put together.

The problem I'm having (which is what my complaints are based on) is that I have no ressurecter or mass-buffer with 3 or 4 dots. So I'm abit reluctant to put them on my team when they'll build up their special so slowly, and changing combo dots for a whole team to funnel mana to them would be pretty expensive. Thanks to this I've still not managed to put a team together that can take on Tower 51, kinda hoping I can brute force it with 2 phoenixes and some stunners.

Total Noob advice.
Basic questions.
1. Tomes. General advice on what is needed for a ream and what mixes best with special skills.
2. Special skills. Where can I find a description. Right now, I just see an image.
3. Are there ideal lower level teams too? Small, Medium, Large. If so, what?
4. What are the blue dots you see beside special skills?
5. What are the dots between tome skill and special skill?

BTW, I’m probably much older than most of you, but I have played every HOMM game since thevery beginning when they were just traditional RPGs in black and white on the Mac only, lol. I’m not seeing a lot of resemblance here.

Eeh how did you miss the Hunchback and Trog challenges? You need to get four friends codes for the Jade Dragon (I myself used some friends devices), it's like the MVP for PvE. If you can't find friends to install CQ, there is a guide linked in the OP on how to emulate.

Hey Lady, sorry for the delay.
1. As a general rule of thumb, you can never go wrong with soldier tome for the 5% extra stats to all attributes. Depending on what you want to do, it is good to use a team related to your needs. For example, if you want your PWR based creature to deal more damage, you can go with Scholar tome (+15% PWR dmg), if your creature's damage is based on luck, you will use Bard tome, if attack, Ranger tome, etc. More info on tomes can be found here.
2. Just hold your finger on skill icon and description will appear.
3. What do you mean by 'ideal'? In general, it's good to use a rezzer and/or healer, a stunner or silencer, and good single target nuke. Unlike with Legendaries where you need to adapt depending on what you pulled, all smalls and mediums are farmable so you can really choose and target the creatures you want. At the top of my head some of the best smalls and mediums IMO are Ornithopter (rez), Raven (rez, cleanse), Mantis (AoE nuke), Butterfly (mass buff(cleanse), Ant (buffs/nuke/heal), Toad (stun), Black (buff/debuff) and Lightning (AoE dmg) Cats, Wyvern (nuke/buff), Statue (mass buff/mass debuff), Lizardman (AoE nuke), Roo (stun), Mummy (debuff/nuke, but this one needs a good synergy, read creature's skill description), Owl (nuke/silence), Boar (nuke/self-heal), obviously Wood Nymph (mass stun). There is others that I might have missed but if you have any creature-specific question don't hesitate to ask here.
4. It's how much mana charges you can have, usually you start off with one, as you evolve your creature it goes up to two, three, sometimes up to four.
5. I don't understand this last question.
