Exactly, I just encountered the typical example (and lost w1):
Doesn't look too frightening does it? I mean two dots Kangoroo, two buffers...
The strength of this wave obviously is -aside creatures being fully maxed out- the 4 dots Ornithopter/Light Elemental combo, forcing you to suffer a Supernova, then the (buffed) Gnoll and Kango finish you off.
I can usually kill LE first turn thanks to both x8 but the Ornithopter heals/revives the Elemental, and by the time I killed it it's too late.

Actually it does.
I usually try to avoid those setups , i rather go vs 2 bosses than being caught with pants down in wave 1 against epic creature. Of course its bit luck dependent, sometimes they have supernova with 1 turn cd on 1st wave , sometimes 3. Of course 4 dot is deadly as it will keep spaming every 3 rounds

I can take one Supernova with no one dying, but not two. On tougher fights I can't heal before turn 3, which can cost me one or two party member(s) but I can still make it eventually.

Personally I knock out the rezzers first and then start on the elemental, with 3 whites on the current team the raven drops fast and the ornithopter will also fall on the 1st round. At worst I lose my cyclops if a pirate and 'roo both pick on it.

I can as well, specially now that I think LE is nerfed a bit, but usualy if not lucky you get another nova coming in hot, also some hyena or kangaroo also can punch out healer or criple team other wise. Just yesterday had encounter with similar team. Managed to take out elemental and even got of 1 heal afterward but rare took out my healer. So bit unlucky, and those setups are very dangerous because of that.
I rather prefer to avoid them altogether, as there is rarely issue on creature waves on 5 wave dungeons, as i then run with full batteries.

True, I just redid that dungeon that I failed earlier, this time only one Supernova so I could make it. Ah, luck.

I cannot free any spot ATM as it seems there is a chance to get in top 3 this time so I don't want to kick out anyone until end of this challenge. Due to recent (too many) departures of fellow Kreegans I will rethink the guild rules and policy and update you all (after deliberation with Marks) hopefully for next challenge.

Just got a 3 dot Phoenix from a diamond idol, which leaves me with a bit of a quandary. I'm a bit short on red gems so levelling it will take a few days, but the real problem is whether to focus my greater essences into it. Essentially my next 5 essences were going towards maxing the jolly green giant, but those 5 could also take the firebird to 105 slotting it into my defence lineup or 4 would take my peri to 105.
I'm unsure how well the firebird performs in attacking lineup but once it's levelled I'll see if it can replace the cyclops which currently feels like the weakest of my attackers.

The new droprate for creatures is soooooooo annoying, last time I did the light elemental quest I could fully awaken it, now they just wont drop anymore, i did the dark elemental level like 27 times and only got one dark elenental, even the smaller creatures wont drop anymore that often...
And yes i play on prince, but last time i played this level it was on lord, and then the LE dropped like crazy

Wow 27 times and only one drop? 
That's complete bull. 
I would really like to know if the difficulty level influences on drops or not. Logically, it should not but it would be nice important to know for sure.
On another note, I thought you were playing on King, can't you find a good party setup? Please if you put some screens I maybe could help you out rapidly.

I do sometimes play on king (like the gold-leprechaun quest I play on king) but these levels, I love playing on prince because that is so easy i don't have to worry about dying.
On king I mostly not die, but it takes much longer to complete, and the results are mostly the same, I don't get good drops on king as well. The Hyena and boar diddn't drop more often on king than on prince at my game at least.
They say they didn't change the drop rates, but this is a lie. Last time I got like 37 hyena's, 20 light elementals, 25 boars and uncountable kobold pirates.
Now I got much much less, I got only 7 hyena's, 6 boars, and still have to catch my first light elemental, and i've done the level 5 times already...
And this tablet cant do that so i cant post pictures, but my team is pretty fine, still doubting between dark elf/succubus and elephant/worm

250 is the maximum you can have. It won'T show up again. You also can't buy the +5 creature storage in the normal shop anymore.

well, there's your problem. The dropchance for the epic before 1.2 was around 50% on prince and 90% on king. I think now it's like 15% on prince and 30% on king.
You didn'T notice a difference with the hyena and boar earlier, because the drop rate for the rares was/is maxed out at prince already

Well it isn't maxed out anymore, last time on prince I rarely got hyena and boar anymore, while before I got one almost every round.

Ofc it can, it's not possible that you can't take screens, just google which is the combination for your device, usually it is something like vol. down + home but it can vary depending on your device, a two buttons combination anyway.
For me it's horrible to look at this without pics because of the colors it goes much faster from a screenshot, maybe I will bother but I don't promise, maybe others can do fine with just a list.
