I would say, we can't say for sure if there are any extra-terrestrial life forms. Although it may seem likely that in this huge universe there is life somewhere, there is no way possible to prove their existence, if they won't come visiting here (in fact even then it could happen that we would just overlook them, because they are something totally different than we expect).

But still, all of us are always looking up wondering and dreaming of far away civilizations.
I think this is what ultimately drives us into reaching for the stars: Our search for knowledge. A human is never satisfied with what he knows. As long as he suspects something more, he will dive ever deeper into the mysteries.

So, I think humans will always search for new life, because as long they haven't  found it they can't prove it isn't there.

EDIT: What exactly would be wrong with "some horrible entity that will turn your life into a real life horror movie" would make things interesting

I'd say it's even more primal than that: it's survival of the fittest that drives evolution and progress as a species. For any lifeform to advance, scarcity of resources is a necessity. Those best able to adapt and claim those scarce resources as their own are those that survive, while others fall by the wayside. If resources are aplenty, there's no reason to evolve because you can grow without needing to adapt. Knowledge is in essence an immaterial resource, which expands your likelihood to survive whatever you encounter.

Whatever form extra-terrestrial life has, it has been subject to that very same principle and hence is very likely to understand that principle too, if it's an intelligent life that has advanced its scientific knowledge to some degree.

Carbon-based life is most likely, for the simple reason that carbon is rather abundant in the universe, while also having a lot of different chemical properties, allowing a lot of interactions with other elements. Silica comes close to it, but lacks several fundamental properties that make it a lot less likely for life to use it as a building block.

who's to say that dark matter, which makes up most of the universe, isn't something that could evolve into being? we still don't know enough about it to make any assumptions as of yet.

just think: dark matter life forms. it would explain the "shadow people" that people see, as well.

how do you know that i'm not the real-life horror that would be dispensing all the terror?

Foreign, i.e anything other than: garden hose, toilet paper, baby wipes, microphone, mobile phone and a strap-on dildo. (I go for deep cleans).

I saw 12-15 flying very fast soundless objects on high altitude in summer of 2003 or 2004 at night over Poland...I thought it could have been Aurora bombers or something similar coming back from Iraq bombing...

a lot of things indicate that Earth is under control of cubes...an alien force ... are they spaceships with crews... cyborgs... or machines ... they are are propably present form the beginning of Earth or our universe or they come from previous or other universes...they were present all the time...pyramids, gods  of various ancient civilizations, spacecrafts etc...they controlled people by mind control (Providence- an eye symbol)...evolution was accelarrated or life on Earth brought form other systems by them ...they created religions, gave inventions, culture, music etc...however there are many other alien species like other humans, greys, reptilions...

Victor Schauberger "invented" antigravity and flying saucers and worked for Nazi Germany. After WW2 USA and rest of Allied got the knowledge and made it top secret...went in space before 1957...all the space programs were just for misleading information....with such technology main power USA started to create secret space fleet...got contact with aliens...got warp drive and other technologies...set bases on Moon and Mars... in 80-ties they build this... somehow exaggerating by causing earthquakes, tsunamis, weather control, WTC etc..
it's time to reveal it...

I have this uncrossed line and I am metephircally speaking,
checked off in the green

and no one has told me it is okay to share this.
It would be pointless to give hints but I will explain the source as
an organized pseudonym. Their archived messages stem back into the
1994 range and they speak of an alternate reality as if this were a
game, similar to dungeons and dragons. Yet extremely advanced

It is way more advanced than D&D and even our own religions. It also
confers in line with our religions and they way they convey their
messages is quite divine.

I found it by googling an extremely profound quote that came to mind
and only 3 results showed up, all from this unmentioned
database
. Then I switched the two elemental subjects,
Google quoted that-
and found only "1" result. From a different source also speaking of
an alternate reality, but another form. Highly elaborate, would put
any writing I have ever seen several levels away.

All of their names are extremely profound and unique. That I will
consider sharing their names. But for now, I traced friend of a
friend of a friend to Arian Shadow several sites away.
This, is not too revealing to share-
It may even cast doubt on my claims to have found an ETI archive.

I hear you fred but read in a few articles.

This is like ghost talking with grand coherency. This is everywhere!

But if you're including non-Adults in this category, aren't you
demurring from the proposition that being "Initiated" in this sense
is a sign of adulthood, which appeared to be the original purpose of
this idea? (Possibly merely another person's (or subminority's?

This isn't a "reading" of the text at all, however, it's quite an
added level of interpretation. Consistent with, yes, evidence of,

statuses for the aspirat to hold? ("Are you now, or have you ever
been, an initiate of Orlanth, Barntar [...] a shamanic apprentice,
or member of one of the following approved spirit cults...")

+ on my life the quote came to my brain
"peace between air and fire"
Originally this page had a lot more typing on it. It has changed within the past day since the quote hit my mind.

It is all pseudonym, conveyed before the dependency of our human
tongue. They have many other definitions of reality and understanding and
its like "inside jokes"... But they arent jokes, they are talking
about humanity, our world, our reality. Everything,

So what. Call it egocentrism, but I am more concerned with what happened in the western half of Europe,
and the religious schisms which happened here. So Augustinus versus
Columban is more important to me than Arius vs. Athanasius, which
comes into my hemisphere only with the catharian movement in the
Provence.

I just watched a Scientist explaining what is known about the Cosmos and the way it unfolded - his position agrees with your thoughts. Life on Earth was an incredibly complex unfolding, so he sees no way with our present understanding of probability for there to be life elsewhere. I'm still neutral because much of what we think we know can still be behind a fog.

Actually, most scientists think it is very probable there are other planets with life. There are already some existing planets they estimate to be in a goldilock position, having similar conditions to Earth regarding supportive conditions for life. Them, visiting us is a completely different ball game though, that would indicate a lot more than life. (I already listed some prerequisites in a previous post.)

But even if such a civilization exists and they did visit us, it would then be something grand, not some little spot in the sky skipping all institutional space watch programs world wide and getting noticed by a few, very questionable individuals. Not to mention, when you look at the fake pictures and stuff, it's always funny to see how the alien technology from millions of light-years away is always on a par to par, decade to decade resemblance wit our current technology. I mean, in the 1950's, they are these grey, metallic vehicles, looking like they just popped up from some classic Twilight Zone episode, then they turn into these circuit boards with H.G. Gigeresque designs and now finally, it's mostly spheres of light and ghostly waves of transmission. Kind of reminds me all Stark Trek dames from the 1960's having Brigitte Bardot hair-style in the future.

(Btw, can some mod remove or shrink that huge picture, please. It messes up the page margin, we have to scroll to finish reading the sentences.)
