So.. What is everyone's favorite alignment?

What is it? And I don't mean just the town you start with, but everything from the spells, the design of the buildings, the look of the heroes, the icons of the spells, the portraits, etc..

I'm finding it hard to choose between Life, Order, and Nature, but probably Nature because of the cool units it gets from the portal. The Mantis is good enough to be level 4, and you can get them in addition to the Phoenix or Faery Dragon. It has a large range of units and the heroes look cool. The summons are cool, although I wish you could summon them outside of battle as well..

The nature town in the grasslands terrain is just breathtaking. And I like the look of the new Unicorns with the rainbow mane. The elementals also look better than they ever did. Creature portal puts Nature's unit count pretty high up, especially with powerful units like the Mantis.

My least favorite would have to be Might. How dull. This is an alignment I will probably never choose. The units aren't even that great, and no magic just sucks.

I'm just theorizing here.  Death heroes can learn Necromancy.  Nature heroes can learn Summoning.  And the only town where you can hire both Death and Nature heroes is Asylum.  So the winner in that respect is...  Chaos.

My first choice probably would be Academy. I wanted to say Haven first bat they too much human and I like other creatures like nagas, genie, and titans. The buildings also a good-looking spatially mage guild with the energy stream coming up. Naga units pretty strong, genie and mages have they own spell books. As of genies they have a clone spell and my opinion thatís a big advantage. Titans probably a weakest unit from all 4 level creatures but they are shooters and can make pretty much big damage in the range attack.
The important staff about mage guild is that they have healing. Sum towns have to use potions for that purpose and some times its really hard to fiend potion of healing.
My favorite spells are mess healing, mass spiritual armor, song of peace, clone.
I donut really care on what kind of grass my town standing on.

Well thatís about it!

Yeah I like the design of the order mage guild as well.. And it's a pitty Titans have been degraded to the point they are at.. Even the Dragon Golem is better.

About summoning and necromancy.. You can just hire the heroes at other towns.. It's no big deal that you can get them both in the same town. Oh and any hero can learn those skills, so it doesn't really matter if it's a Nature hero or not.

Preserver for ever

Sorry Jenova but the units of Might just rock !

Berserker-Centaurs-Harpies-Cyclopes-Behemoths is a dream team.
Cheap and Strong, with a breeding pit you canít have a best army.
The ONLY bad point is the lack of magic.
Versus the AI who doesnít play well with his spells it doesnít matter and in that case Behemoths rulez.

The unit I like for his charm is the berserker. Itís a really good idea that guys you canít control and look like furious beasts without rules.

However, I stay a Nature lover and Preserve will allways be my first choice. Just because of the atmosphere and the units in it. I adore Sprites, unicorns and now faeries.


I have a little question :

On a map I played with barbarians, I fund an amulet which make 10% necromancy. I put it on my barbarian for his beauty... and it worked ! Not the beauty, the necromancy ! Without the necromancy skill he got allways 13 skels after each battles. I think itís a bug, because the number of skels never changed. But what a cool bug if itís one.

So my question : Is it possible that necromancy work without the necro skill ?

Yea, nature is great....If you enjoy getting your butt kicked.  

I am partial to order.  The phantasmic/illusionary forces rock and hypnotize freaks out your opponant.  "NO! My angels should not be attacking my monks."

Nature; Toujours

It has a portal for summoning, a tough level 4 in the faerie dragon, the best looking heros and elementals, which make a tough extra army.

This game sucks..

It doesnt have a town at my heart...

Asylum:No! While Dungeon was a great town, aslyum doesn't even come close when compaired to it... It holds Orcs and Bandits... And a Hydra instead of an Manticore? yuck!

Necropolisemons and Undead are enemies... They are both evil, but while undead want to REANIMATE the whole world and turn all into undead, the demons like to burn everything and just piss on human and other creatures heads. It's not like the Pasta mix... It's a stupid mix!

Preserve:I really love summoning! But it's a town full of weak and peacefull creatures! And it holds wolves... No Preserve isn't the one for me eather..

Academy?:Sure naga's looks great! but only one unit? NO it's not my style..

Stronghold:It has my favorite unit! The Weather Bird! But the others plain suck! And Harpies and Nomads in this town? hell no!

Haven:Whahaha HiHaHe! Over my DEATH body!

There should be a cool Abyss town in the Expansion! One to my heart!

All evil tricksters and spies should be in this town!
Dark Elves,Dark Dwarves,Centipede,Moon Bears,Mist Horrors,Shadow Dragons,Shades,Wasp Warriors,Manticores,Doppelgangers and many others! Just a cool evil town... Not one with orcs or Devils in it..

Can you do that NWC?

Well,you're right,it's really hard to choose between these six magnificent designed races.
Someone said that Death has necromancy,nature has summon,and?????Life!!
Life has resurrection!!A great ability that overcomes other two!!Think about it,if you've lost 2angels,4crusaders...........
and you have the Grandmaster resurrect skill,you can get half of your army back!!And if you're a Cardinal,it even works better^^
Not for nothing I chose Life to be my precious...
If you've the celestial armor and prayer spell and you've got a pack of crusaders,you can go anywhere!!
Even the ballistae are really useful when attacking fortified enemy towns,cause it's attack can penetrate enemy walls without reducing it's effect!If ya got dozens of these machines,you can kill the enemy hero in one shot!!
As for the angels and the Champions(I call crusher)you cannot make into imagine how they can trouble your enemies!
Especially the crushers!Remember HOMM3?Their charging skill is now upgraded with the first strike ability!!Well this makes them terribly useful!!And you can produce 4 of these guys each week,the highest productive Lv 4 creature!!
So,think it twice before chosing another race,LIFE is the best!(No offence to other races)^^

Death trumps life.

Imps take away the angel's resurrection ability.  Hand of death kills the level 4s, and try putting vampiric touch on your devils and watch the mayhem.

Yes yes you're right......
But you've forgotten the "ward" ability of LIFE!!
And the magic you've been talking about is about lv4-5,well,in my opinion that's gonna take a lotta time to get to Master or even Grandmaster magic.......
But life creatures,especially crossbowmen,ballistae and crusaders can easily crush their enemies much earlier than you think,even without prayer they still rock!!
And,never expose your hero to my crossbowmen and ballistae,or you'll hear them scream!!
A little advice to whom like Life,never use the monks,these guys really suck.......range penalty......they don't match with other creatures.......

Necropolis all the way!!!! First and Second level units aren't that good. Imps MP steal is handy for angels, genies etc...  But the necropolis really shines at high levels. Either Vampires coupled with dragons (HP DMG) or Devils with Ice demons and Insane tactical advantages.  Or even better i'm trying this out myself. Work up a grandmaster deamonologist IE summons Devils, build Venom Spawn Generator and use GM necromancy to get an army of Vampires and build the bone vault... So lets see, 2 excellent lv 3's. Summon Devils Who summon Ice Demons. 2for1 DEAL!! and have dragons to help your devils and vampires. And a little death magic mayhem never hurt anybody. (Hand of Death is Godly!!)

So far I prefer the Asylum town, the Thief class, and Death magic.  The Asylums creatures are all very useful and fun, and the Thief class is the best class in the game, in my opinion, for fast leveling, stealing your enemies resources, and scouting your opponent out.  Death magic is the most enjoyable magic school for me so far, it is great at both weakening the opponents army and buffing your own.

I think the Haven blows. It's units aren't all that good and I find that I never buy the shooters, because their walkers are too weak and you need to compensate. Angels are good but that's about it. Their spells are dodgy.

Preserve makes up for in range of creatures where it lacks in useful spells. Sure, all the summoning spells are great, but early on, you can summon like 12 sprites or something... abysmal. I don't like what they did to the unicorns mane. It looks like a Hanna-Barbera cartoon.

Order is reasonable - they have decent early units and while their 4th lvl ones are a bit dodgy, their spells are okay too. Although I'm a fan of direct damage, their Create Illusion spells are really useful, especially early on.

Asylum, I'm not a big fan of in some respects. Their 1st level creatures are shocking and while I like the Medusa, it's a shame the Minotaur has lost some of it's previous appeal. I still think Efreet are one of the best units... Nightmares are too slow, and Fear should occur naturally (like the Azure Dragons) not as a spell you have to cast. Hydras are good if you don't have enough money, but I suppose Black Dragons are still the best - even if you don't have enough to pay for them. I really like their spells though. Direct damage, possibility to get Demonology and other Summoning spells make it a great force to be reckoned with (in theory)

Death - Too slow. Ghosts are bad. Bring back Liches and Death Knights! I don't mind the Devil or Bone Dragon, but I would've liked Ice Demons to be Faster and stronger.

Might - I hate not using magic. One disintegrate or implosion just screws these guys up. Thunderbirds are a lot better than they previously were, but don't have enough HP. Behemoths are too slow and not as good as they were. You shouldn't have to choose between Ogre Magi and Cyclops - It's hard to win without either of them. The Magic Dampener really doesn't do anything for me.

Nothing here really strikes me as being great. Bring back the Necropolis or Castle from HOMM3 I say.

Oh, and the grail is soooooo bad now.

yah, i liked the homm3 alignments better,asylum is probobly the best one, order is ok, nature is ok but the rest are weak, espescially death, execpt bone dragons

the funny think is, 6 orge magi can cill 3 vamps or 3 spawns, and thats there growth, and i takes a while to get grandmaster necromancy

My favorite alligment is Light. The combination of
Life & Order is good. Besides they have cool creatures.(light bolt, angel...)
