Well sadly I made my own grave with suggestion of strike out, cause I dont know good or bad match-ups on this map apparently. In that case random would be working better for me We played 4 games with pali, he won 3:1. Letīs go one by one.

Game 1: Pali (Inferno) vs LM (Necro). I got horrible spells (especially dark ones) so I had to improvise. I chose summon magic, rest went to sorcery, machines, defense. Started pretty good (focused on perfect positioning), but after a while I knew that Iīm gonna lost because of his OP machines (that 10x healing tent is really ridicioulus...).

Game 2: Pali (Academy) vs LM (Sylvan). I went for unusual build with summon magic and used firewall + charge with my units to keep him in the fireee. The plan worked, even more so when I caught his phoenix with my treants. But at the end it was fairly close, because of his exp defense and arts ressurection.

Game 3: Pali (Inferno) vs LM (Necro). We did a rematch hehe. Now this game proves that this match up is nearly unplayable. Perfect game from my side (no decay in towns same as in game 1 though), managed to killed machines and still lost But I give a credit to Pali too, crazy stats, summon choice with all the spells needed and ability on endless mana. That last skill proved to be winning condition, cause otherwise I would have prevailed.

Game 4: Pali (Dungeon) vs LM (Academy). Academy is natural counter to Dungeon right? I proved to be wrong again I had two possible builds, none of them would work (which I learnt sadly too late). I went for light+summon (rege + armor combo). Used swift mind, exp sorcery and mark of the wizard to get it as soon as possible. Swift mind didnīt work nicely, mark took too much time and so my hero didnt even manage to cast double armor and had to ressurect. Didnt have consume artifact, should have sacrifised something for it. Freezing efect (which applied on machines too) was also killing me. I was alive so long only thanks to opponent mistakes (it was 3 am, 7-8 hours of playing though).

Final evaluation: We both agreed that I played better, almost without mistakes. That says something about the map, but mostly about the above match ups. Swift mind doesnt worth two skills (where one is trash), in game 4 I was just before unit with 11 ini. Replays sent to Elvin.

I would like to thank to Pali for games. It was great we managed to play all of them yesterday! Again reminded me old times...

Many thanks to Elvin for making this amazing tourney and the ongoing work on this duel map!

Take care guys and see you in the next one?!?

Since it was the finals, I also wrote something up while sitting around in the train today (hence the strange paragraphs as it's copy-pasted from txt)  :

Lord Michal and me battled it out in a glorious night of a combined seven hours of Heroes madness. Starting with Inferno vs Necro, I went for destructive magic and he chose Summoning, annihilating part of my
army early with the rarely used power of the arcane crystal. Moreover, he removed my succubus channeler from the battle asap, so that my destructive magic was significantly weakened. War machines did a good job for me here, as did a stack of two gated pit
spawns who wiped out over a hundred skeletons in a single strike. Also worth mentioning were some lethal banshee howls which were only silenced due to my triple shot ballista. All in all, that was a
good match from both of us with Inferno edging it in the end.

The second one was my Academy vs his Sylvan. That was an amazing display of summoning magic on his part, killing pretty much everything with strategically placed firewalls and units which also
rendered my Phoenix basically useless. I managed some kind of comeback thanks to consume artifact, but he clearly prevailed. A noteworthy mistake on my part was a melee attack of my gremlins on his dragons to soak up the retaliation, as I thought that my Phoenix was close enough to attack the dragon as well.

Third one: Inferno vs Necro again, this time with a lot of early frenzies and puppet masters on his part which diminished my army rapidly. He also took out my ballista very fast this time. I mainly went for summoning which, once again, couldn't profit from channeling, but I had 10 SP and the Elemental ring anyway, so it wasn't too much of a disaster. A growing lack of concentration was showing at some points here on my part, but the Phoenix took out
the Banshees quickly this time and the moral effect triggered often for the summoned creatures (my Phoenixes and Elementals had amazing moral, considering I didn't take it as a skill). At one point it mostly turned into a magic duel and consume corpse gave me huge advantages in mana. The Phoenix, the firewalls and the Elementals did the job for me in the end. Also, Inferno is probably stronger than Necro in the current map version, but
that's always difficult to balance for all match ups. Pretty much a perfect match on his part, while I proved that I'm not only a ballista abuser, but also a ballista guardian by forgetting to attack
his ballista with my creatures for a few turns which just stood around and waited instead.

The fourth one was Dungeon vs Academy. I got the no-brainer setup with expert destruction, expert sorcery, expert irresistable magic, caster's luck and master of ice, just to come out with only 13 SP
while he had 14. Luckily, he didn't have magic mirror. I had 10 attack and 7 defense which was a lot more than I had planned (the artifacts which I got to choose from didn't really fit well), but
that turned out quite helpful: My blood maidens and Raiders killed almost all his titans right in the beginning while my dragons exterminated most of his Rakshasas. My spells weren't all that impressive, in part due to the fact that he had spell resistances. He cast the mark of the wizard on his Rakshasas and combined it with regen, resurrection and arcane armour. That helped him to come back in the middle of the game, but the hp reduction of resur. added up. I still had a full stack of matriarchs and those performed their slow walk of doom in order to kill 6 to 8 Rakshasas two times in
a row. Even the fact that I accidentally misplaced them so that my Dragons retaliated on them didn't stop them and the remaining 8 of them continued their unnervingly slow walk of devastation. Several
lucky hits were added to that, nullifying the unexpected final guardian angel as well.
Understandably, Lord Michal ragequit in the end. All in all, his tactical performance in the games was undeniably more flawless than mine. I probably had more ideal hero skills for the most part as
well as favorable match ups.

Great games guys! Hearing you pumped up, after a 7 hour hero marathon is enough to make me feel that this tourney was totally worth it

Replays 1, 2, 3

1) That crystal in the beginning was epic. But yeah that ballista and lack of dark didn't do necro any favours, there was no way to fell those archdevils and spawns. I believe that even with less than ideal dark, mass weakness would have helped immensely.

2) Surprisingly close game, cheers for the idea to trap academy in a wall of fire. Perhaps dancers should have been dealt with faster since they act frequently but fall like flies.

3) Exciting and unconventional at the same time - Some proper dark action and inferno summoning too! Nice surgical strikes on the channellers and ballista. Perhaps necro should have avoided the center where more infernal units could reach.

Sadly I do not have the 4th replay, hope palingenesis has it.

I'll have to agree about tent having too many uses, to be re-evaluated.

Did you guys feel like frenzy was op in the 3rd game? Because it certainly did not look that way.

And now it's time for the Final Boss Battle! And my first action will be to crush palingenesis' inferno with my awesome necro Palingenesis, show yourself!

PS I have a new map just for you. No balance changes, you'll see.

Heroes fever strikes again! I did not plan to have more than 1-2 games but it was so fun that we ended up playing till 4am

First one was my classic destructive dungeon vs palingenesis' dark/wm haven. He lacked defense so my adv offense and cold steel hurt his units more than expected. Had a good starting frost ring on paladins/archers/priests/vindicators for 600 dmg(17sp) which he countered with a good frenzy on my minos, causing my dragons to almost kill them. Reds brought down seraphs to 1 before they used their dv and my furies managed to block the freshly puppeted matriarchs from shooting. A couple of casts later dungeon's advantage had been secured
1-0

Next we played necro vs inferno, to prove the undead superiority. My hero frenzied the channellers before they played and palingenesis summoned a phoenix in response(9 sp). His ballista showed it was going to be trouble early on but I decided to bide my time and play the waiting game. Afflicted the remaining seducers, demons, familiars and phoenix with mass decay instead of the more pressing threats that were already near me because I expected trouble from the phoenix. The tent healed the seducers from decay but the phantom devil stack that entered the scene felt more threatening. Soon after the summoned spawns trashed by skelies and I went for mass slow to ease the pressure. That was probably my undoing for the channellers increased the demonlord's sp by +12. Palingenesis broght in 58 fire warriors so in response I puppeted archdevils to attack ballista and block them from shooting. Shame I'd cursed them earlier.. The phoenix fell and was replaced with a bigger one Ballista finished my banshees so I had no choice but to use my exp summoning.. And raise 2 archdevils so that they could destroy the ballisa! By then the damage had been done and I could only withdraw my zombies to the corner and cover them with puppeted spawns. My last hope was that a frenzy on the devils would crush the fire warriors but they instead attacked 6 succubi Poor zombies did not last long afterward. It was one hell of a game.
1-1

Third game saw inferno vs stronghold! Holy mentor batman, that was so God-awful. I got wm to counter the ballista I knew palingenesis would have, along with dark. AND THE GODDAMN MENTOR KEPT REFUSING ME! I kept forgetting skills again and again and again, in the process getting enough money for a 10k artifact and no horned demons at all. But I managed to get a basic ballista in my last try at least.. Naturally palingenesis had a triple ballista and all his army so I had to focus on his ballista first. His puppeted cyclops and seduced executioners thankfully helped with that and my ballista ended up supporting me for the whole game. It was a chaotic brawl with fear, puppet, frenzy and gating thrown in the mix. In the end I survived with most of my spawns, a few archdevils and some seducers I think. But I had full control of the field with an additional spawn and pitlord stack.
2-1

Then I got inferno aagain and reloaded. He got orcs again, we reloaded. We then got necro vs sylvan that both were happy with but he forgot to set favoured enemies and also failed to get imbue arrow so we decided to drop that game. On to..

Orcs vs dungeon! Decided to go traditional stronghold plus warcries and as expected I was met with dark and wm Defilers failed to sabotage the first puppet on my cyclopes so I had to scare them from acting. Second puppet did cost extra mana but the warlock had plenty and it could not be interrupted. Then scared furies into retreating to the other corner and focused on the hydras but the tent wouldn't let them die. Puppets kept coming. Managed to finally kill the furies and some mistresses in fierce retaliation but in the end no amount of rage could save me from the ballista and ensuing puppets. Surviving army, 9 hydras, 10 mistresses, 48 assassins and some change.
2-2!

Deciding game to be played today more likely. Here be replays! Sadly the inferno vs orc replay makes my game crash, hope it works for you.

I have a pretty serious headache right now btw. - hope it gets better later so that I can play.

I had a revelation for the perfect final match up, though, as it's very balanced and fun at the same time: Inferno vs Dungeon. I would be comfortable with playing either of those.

Yeah, those titans were killed too fast and swift mind dropped the ball. I'm guessing the starting rider atb must have been close to max value while the hero's starting atb must have been close to min value. That's insanely rare but I could improve swift mind a bit to make it more worthwhile.

PS djinns could have blocked rider charge, giving more time for mark of the wizard strategies.

So, we decided to turn this into a best of 7. By the way, the map was really epic and the most important piece of information already appeared in the loading screen: "Elvin wins in the end". My Inferno vs Dungeon idea was realized first. I had two plans, depending on which faction Elvin picked: With Dungeon - nuke'em. With Inferno - counterspell ad infinitum. I got Inferno and at the sphinx Sorcery didn't appear before level 17. I spent about 10K on Mentor, still didn't get arcane ward and counterspell. Thus, into battle with Dark Magic. To make it short: I got nuked. Sometimes I also placed my units in places which made it easy for him to take them out. All in all, a very decisive Dungeon win.

Up next was a random match between me with Academy and him with Haven. I didn't think I'd win it, but I managed to play this match quite well with the help of 14 SP and a strong Phoenix/Fire Elementals. I only had 121 mana at the start of the match and Elvin was like: "Forget it, that's not going to work out". However, I didn't need much and eventually won with more than 60 mana left.

The third and final match for the winner of the best of 7
was random too between me with Fortress against Elvin with Sylvan (which I initially, for whatever reason, perceived to be Academy). I thought that this would become a one-sided victory for Fortress, but I was wrong again. I totally underestimated the rushing power of Sylvan, partly due to the fact that my two most decisive victories in the tourney were against Sylvan while I considered Fortress to be a safe option against everything. I had subpar spells in my guild/arcane library and only went for Summoning (the only good spells were Summon Elementals and Arcane Armour, though) while I should have gone for light as well. When the match started and I saw how extremely strong his defense was, I started to realize that this might get rough. It still got far rougher than imagined and it turned out to be a very clear victory for him. So, Elvin wins in the end.
It's a bit of a pity that none of those matches was really a totally close fight where both players only had two or three creatures left until one final spell or unexpected action decided everything. In most cases, it was clear who was going to win after 75% of the match was over. Surprisingly, the battle between my Dungeon and his Stronghold was actually the closest one.
To conclude, thanks a lot to all the other players for taking part and to Elvin for making all of this possible!

:proud:

A pity about lack of counterspell, that would have made the game more interesting. Was afraid my sp would not be enough but my might stats helped. Have to admit, the targets from the frenzied hydras really favoured me.

Haven vs academy game was unexpected. I figured that with a good charge I'd soon force the saboteurs into attacking or get them exposed at which point my ballista would be free to attack. That didn't exactly work out. Academy proved very resilient, despite how fast the titans went down. I should have definitely taken defense.

Sylvan vs fortress went as I hoped, blitz being my favourite tactic vs dwarves But damn, arcane armour is such a pain to deal with.

Good games, thanks everyone

Next tourney will probably begin on January for whoever is interested.
