Crimson and Clover - Heroes 4 Style

Hey guys, I re-made the Heroes 3 CD map of "Crimson and Clover" for Heroes 4!

http://homm.strategy-gaming.com/maps/crimson_and_clover.h4c

Feel free to criticize the map and submit any bugs it might have to eaab@hiwaay.net.

Oh yeah, Heroes 4 Map Council guys (destro23 and jinxer i think?) can you consider this map for putting on the toh maps page?

Looks like the original, for sure.

You make this with both editors open at the same time?

I noticed a mistake or maybe it isnt. You used the the 'Bronze' Oracles, and the default prize of the 'Bronze' is the relic the Admantaim Shield(ack I cant spell). You didnt change the prize to the Grail. I think on that map you want the money from the Grail over the Shield. That Shield is one of the weakest relics anyways.

You can change it the Map Properties option

Yeah, had both editors open at same time... took a lot longer than if I had just made an original map where I could simply do whatever I wanted...

I was kinda hoping for some comments on the items that dont transfer from h3 to h4... such as medusa stores(I used ruins), cyclops stockpile(cylops dwelling), altar of sacrifice(random temple), university(university of magic), and especially the scholar(was considering using random altar, but used wizard's chest, but I might change that depending on what people say) guarded by the L1's... those were some tough decisions.
EDIT: forgot wyverns nest, that was the hardest one... ended up using the harpy nest where you fight them to get money.

And yeah, Ill change the bronze oracle thing, thx Jex

The updated version with all bugs fixed is now available... http://homm.strategy-gaming.com/maps/crimson_and_clover.h4c

Should be interesting to see how this map plays in MP... I played it a couple times against the comp, but you cant see much from that... its really the first map I'd played in h4 that was open, none of the ones that came w/ the cd (besides smalls, I havent gotten to those yet) seem very open :-   I guess they want to emphasize hero development.

yes, very good and well decorated

some optional things to imporve it's looks:
- raise terrain especially around volcanic areas
- add flowers, shrubs, etc on the places you find a bit plain
- all these trees and not one songbird?    (add animals, bones maybe)
well you get the idea.

Some birds would be nice but for heavens sake not chickens. I started a scenario and I almost quit because my town was surrounded by them. Their clucking reallly annoys me.

Well, I tried to make everything the same, including the decoration... so obviously there will be no songbirds...

Not to worry tho, in my next map, i'll be sure to include songbirds JUST for you

In H3 this map was fun but for the most part was over in wk1.

In h4 I think it is JUST what we need.

Kudos for great work.

Thanks man, Mocara

I agree.  H3 maps converted to H4 are going to undergo much more change than the H2 maps (converted to H4).

However, some of the maps I hate would make great heroes4 maps, especially:
- Desert War
- Battlemania
I would give a high rating for these maps if they're well converted.

This a little off topic...but maybe good to announce it. Before anyone gets too far. Before remaking an H3 map for H4, make sure to ask the authors permission..unless its 3do, or cant find who it is.

Main reason is, the author may be working on a remake themselves and would suck to see someone else remake it right before theirs is done and make changes that they wouldnt have liked

hmmm, VERY good point.

As for me, I would be honored if one decided to convert one of my old maps ... yet it would suck if I was almost done.

Perhaps after we (the map council) receive a converted map, could contact whomever originally did the map?  And assuming we can contact him/ her, ask his/ her approval of it?  maybe ask if he/ she wants to modify it?  etc.. I don't know.  What do you think?  How would we go about this probable dilemma?

JB, your maps are most likely to be converted, what do you think we could/ should do?
