Game crashes?

Hello I have a question perhaps somebody here can answer it. I played Heroes VI a lot of times. Downloaded other maps for the game which worked perfectly. The most huge maps weren't a problem at all. But after I updated to Windows 10 none of them worked. The game kept crashing at the bigger maps. Only the smaller maps worked. How is that possible? System requirements and all are ok. Is it because it wasn't developed for Win 10? And I wonder if I go back to Win 7 will it work then? I really don't have time for creating a back-up and re-installing Win 7. I hope somebody knows how to solve this without re-installing.

The map I test with is Divided Country. But other downloadable maps like Necropolis and the French ones of the Maps4Heroes site won't work either. Not like they did before. Even Archipelago Of The Ancients crashes.

Thanks in advance!

First you should clear your Map folder and try again.

You can also try something like that (note I don't use Windows10, so I don't know how things are organized there):
Search the HeroesVI .EXE (not the shortcut), right-click on it --> Properties --> Compatibility and change the Compatibility Mode by Windows7 (or something else), then click on Apply and try to start the game.

Pardon me for my late reply.
I did check the compatiblity and it's on Win 7. Also tried 8 but no succes whatsoever. I haven't deleted all the maps in my scenario yet. I'll try that as soon as I can.

You can also try to verify your game files in Uplay and/or run the app with administrator rights.

About compatibility issues of this ex-marvelous game.

Did both of these methods already, Antalyan.

The troubleshooter does not go all the way back to Windows 6.1(7) and, only Windows 6.2/6.3(8/8.1). Still, it refuses to launch to the conflux's main page.

Video Card and drivers' compatibility problems?

This game hasn't launched ever since version 1703 of Windows 10 Home/Pro.

Every other game of Heroes of Might and Magic(except Heroes 4 and 6)seem to work perfectly. So...what in the hell is the problem with these two(2) titles' problems.

I even have Dos games from GoG Galaxy that work without any hesitation what-so-ever. Any word from Virtuos' people that were working on patching this game?

A major development has occurred today!

Good News Everyone!

This game has been recuperated from non functional to fully functional under the O.S. of Windows 10 Home version 1809.

It has to be run in windowed mode only. Why? I strictly have no idea. Only to tell you that Ultra Street-Fighter IV has the same PC compatibility problem.

Full Screen at any resolution is, simply put, not supported by this game.

So, you have to go to your user's account on the C: drive, documents folder, Heroes of Might and Magic VI folder and, there, you will find the configuration file called: Profile Data. Open this file using rather Word Pad or Note Pad.

From there, change the graphics line that is like this one:
<gfx_Fullscreen2>Windowed</gfx_Fullscreen2>
But, instead of this Windowed command, it tends to show FullScreen. Highlight the word FullScreen and delete it, then type the word Windowed. Directly from there, go to File and save it and, exit the word-processing program. Return to the desktop and launch the game directly from the game's Icon, wait for the initialization of it and, voilą you get to see the top part of the window of the game then the Intro movie starts. The game is momentarily at its main menu page and ready to launch a map of your choice.

Welcome back to HoMM 6 people, no matter the version of your PC O.S. used.

____________
Now, all 7 titles can be played on Windows 10 Home/Pro Editions. Thanks to the good ole' Gog.com people, all the series can be played on any decent multi-core PC.
