little far-fetched
This is an understatement, asking me to believe that a drug trip revealed to you alone the secrets of human existence is what I call lunacy.

you're far oversimplifying what hallucinogens are capable of. they're not some toy drug. they are sacred to people who understand them and know how to use them; and for a good reason.
Yes, I would expect the superstitious to make a hallucinogenic sacred it does not mean it is doing anything more than messing with your brain's perception of reality.

buddy, i wasn't "superstitious" back when i started taking them, and i'm not "superstitious" now. your wording and adamancy towards ridiculing something powerful that i experienced despite my OWN skepticism of anything lying outside the physical realm, is starting to irk me. maybe you better take a break.

I never said you were superstitious, although some of the beliefs you have said before I would call superstitious, I said the people that believe drugs are sacred are superstitious because they hold faith in superstition. We know that LSD creates powerful hallucinations so how can you believe it is something else? For that matter expect others who also have this knowledge to believe what you saw was anything else?

Forgive me my wording, I do not wish to offend, but I am honestly trying to understand how you could come to the conclusion that what you saw was not a hallucination, when you know full well what the drugs do.

A hallucination is something visual, what he had was a transcendental feeling of unity. I don't think it can be categorized  as true or false, in the sense a hallucination can, since it's a totally abstract concept. Of course, it is not the universe revealing its secrets either but rather a perception of belonging. I wouldn't word it as "spiritual" or "another dimension" unless metaphorically either. One can also feel a sense of unity under a materialistic paradigm, it is a feeling after all, not an alternative cosmology.

@ gryphs: what i've been trying to explain, is that there is a difference between merely tripping(seeing funny visuals or "tasting colors"), and traveling to a different plane of existence via your consciousness. think about it: what is consciousness? how is it contained? if you think your "self" is merely contained within cells, then you're wrong. we give off energy when we physically die; that has been scientifically proven. our hair and fingernails still grow, even after death(veering away from the point, but this holds that even after physical death, something is still happening to us).

as corribus once pointed out via a link posted here(that blew my mind), our cells replace themselves every so often, depending on the cell type and it's location/importance. the question he posed was, "if our cells replace themselves with entirely new cells, then how do we keep our self"(or something to that effect)?

and i think i found the answer to that. not souls, per se, but energy. it is our energy core, that retains our "selves". and when we physically die, that energy is released. if it is released, where does it go? from what i've seen, back to it's creator: IT. that interstellar(?), gargantuan ball of light that is all of creations' source.

understand, that i HAVE had hallucinations before. i've seen the walls swirling with different colors; a curtain becoming like a waterfall; seeing ants that weren't there, crawling over my bare foot. what i experienced this time(and again, not FELT, because there was no emotion in my experience. there isn't NOW, ffs. i'm not delighted or saddened or anything of the sort. what happened just IS), was NOT tripping. hallucinations continue, they linger, you can watch them for awhile; this was something that was here and gone quite quickly. i was on a different plane of existence. i was seeing the realm our consciousnesses actually existed on. and i understood(understand), that everything else is only illusion. a facade. the physical realm is only real to us, because we exist within physical bodies. our "selves" actually exist in a different realm, that parallels physical existence. we are tied to this physical existence, until we "die". when we are released from our bodies, we are returned to IT. i SAW this happening. i saw it as clearly as i see this computer screen, with NO distortion.

hallucinogens, on the other hand, are a distortion of reality. you can tell they're not real, because they're distorted. you can also FOCUS them away. you can't focus an entire REALM OF EXISTENCE away. just like i can't leave this physical realm without some kind of help(or by "dying"). be it an hallucinogen, or meditation(which i can't really use, as i don't have the discipline required to use it).

i'm not religious; i haven't been for years. i wasn't religious when i started taking hallucinogens, either. and i'm not religious now, just because i saw what creates us. i don't believe what i saw is "god"; but i certainly believe what i saw was what creates everything, and is indeed, EVERYTHING.

i hope that wasn't too difficult for anyone to understand. i want to make myself absolutely clear, but the subject matter is a little difficult. and again, i understand how this is all hard to believe. if anyone else had posted it but me, i wouldn't believe them either.

Btw, if I remember correctly, your nails or hair dont keep on growing when you die, it just seems like that when your skin dries out  shrinking and more of them surface out.

Shrink may not be the proper word here, English not my native tongue stuff...

i have a feeling that you're skeptical as well.

odd, that both the religious, and non-religious, don't believe me. maybe i'll have to start a cult after all. THEN we'll see who believes what.

I cannot comment on hallucinogens and consciousness planeswalking But I do believe that we all come from the same source and are connected in some way. People spend their lives building their ego, how they are different or better than the rest. They base their identity on background, social status, career accomplishments, education, possessions etc but that's not who they really are. That's just conditioning of the mind and the mind has an identity and will of its own. It does not necessarily align with our nature or what we really want and it certainly does not like its sense of identity challenged By that I mean the ego born of the mind of course, not the mind used as a tool.

Some monks, native americans, and various others have achieved 'oneness'.. some with the help of drugs..some with no drugs.  I tend to the more rational, but had this oneness been achieved without hallucinogens it would be easier to believe.  Not dismissing your experience, just saying that it is hard to tell if it is an effect of the drug or not.  Just as my own experience with oneness, when I was in a coma.  Who knows what all drugs were in my system, and if they played havoc on my mind or not.

Now here is something to consider .. what about people with dementia those who forget not only everything else, but even who they are?  If indeed we are connected to this 'source', why would this happen?  Why are some unable to empathize (sociopaths, psychopaths)?  When we lose ourselves, who/what do we become?

Well we are electrical machines of high caliber, so parts can malfunction and destroy the present experience in endless ways. Remember the Anus joke? Where even the lowly taken for granted Anus can bring the whole body to heel.

I had a friend of mine who used to speak like Fred does, telling me how he could reach some degrees of consciousness and what he called intelligence in where he found answers to his questions and had a flow of great ideas coming to his mind.

The experience might be true, but I considered taht feeling the same like when you have a severe flue and you sleep. You experience another dimension of existence, or you feel like you're doing that, because irregular stuff happen in your brain.

Anyways, avoid drugs, don't do drugs, drugs are evil.

I was to troll originally and I don't know how I ended by writing all this classical post. If I remember, I'll troll later.

i couldn't begin to assume i know anything of the "why". the rush of knowledge i received had nothing to do with "why". but as for losing oneself(or losing traits becoming of a decent human being), i could only guess that it's either faulty physical wiring(for lack of a better phrase); something changed via our interaction with the physical plane; or that it is part of IT's design. i don't know if anything is actually controlled on our end by IT, but i know that everything in the physical universe is created by IT. what i think, is that IT just lays the groundwork for our physical existence, and our experiences with that physical existence fill in the blanks. but i could be wrong about that. i've actually been wondering how my precognitive dreams tie into what i learned, or if they even do. there are many conundrums popping up; regarding this, and everything else in existence. it is interesting, certainly, to think about them, and how they may tie into one another.

I know what you mean, that feverish sensation getting to your brain and then your dreaming state doesn't feel the same. I've had that happen to me even without a flu, but I wouldn't go as far as saying I've discovered another dimension, lol.

I had a profound sense of tranquility when I passed out once. It was a hot summer day, the AC wasn't installed, I hadn't eaten in hours, I was drinking a beer, and we were pulling nails out of a carpet in a house a friend had recently purchased, which meant I was doing constant up and down motions with my body as I was pulling the nails out. The combinations of factors led to me collapsing at the sink during a brief pause and landing on the floor. My friend reports my lips turned blue. I remember a dazzling of colors and a unique sense of peace, like traveling along a river of warm milk outside of perceived time.

After I woke up, we took a brief trip down the road and I bought chicken strips and a cold orange juice. That poultry and orange juice were delicious. Mmmm.

Not particularly going out of the way to repeat the experience. Insufficient oxygen to the head is undesirable.
