I'm open to the possibility of name changes, but I am atm kinda partial to the Death Valley name.... lol..... as far as monsters go, I keep debating that subject with myself at length. I know I don't want to use the same creatures in Necropolis for sure. I wanna use many of the ones from Silaneo's necrotown project, and some from the website this art came from, but I am still debating things. I have a few World of Warcraft creatures that keep teasing my imagination too, so I have set that part aside for the moment, but I will post some pics before too long hopefully, even if to just let the community help me decide. I also need to figure out what to do about upgrades for the dwellings themselves. I don't have a life outside of work though, so there should be maintainable momentum

(woohoo! Two pages of post yaay!!!!)

Your town looks interesting, good work, but the style doesn't really fit Homm3. I'm interested in creatures.

I have a different opinion... Town fit very well, bbut it looks much better than necropolis, conflux and dungeon.

Monsters

These are some of the monsters I am mulling over atm.... nothing at this point has been decided on, but this should help with some of the curiosity :-P
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Frontrunners for inclusion include:

Grave Beast (lvl 1 upgrade)

Phantom (lvl 3 upgrade 1)

Wraith (lvl 3 upgrade 2)

Mummy (lvl 5 initial)

---------------------------------------------------------------------
here are some others I have but am not sure if I am including yet:

Bone Dragon

Death Knight

Ghoul

Lich

Skeletal Warrior

Skeletal Archer

Vampire
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Others I am considering are of course Silaneo's creatures from his necro-mod 1.01, and some from other VCMI areas not commited to towns yet such as the Venegeful dead / Unforgiven Dead from the Axolotl creature pack..... I of course will want to get permission from the creators for those. Also, can anyone recommend a good (preferably free) program for opening and viewing .def files?

@Michal

Your comparison shows very well that it doesn't fit. It looks like somthing out of Homm5-7, beautiful, yes, but in entirely different style.

@Up

Models are interesting. Where did you get those?

These I got from the following files (pretty much everything I have shows so far (except for the Grail Structure, which I downloaded from online):

resources from Chinese website

the site is www.hero66.com

There are other resources for other towns in that pack as well, if I get done with this project and it comes out well, I may move on to them, but if someone else wants to work them first, I have no issues with that.

@Draeganfire - do not allow repetition...
Death Knight,Bone Dragon,Lich, Skeleton, Vampire are arleady exist in H3.

I think that would be a great choice:
grave beast, phantom or ghost, wraith - maybe reaper?, ghoul,Lich maybe koschei? (koshei)

Yeah I am trying to stay away from utilizing the same creatures as Necropolis. I was also picturing using a bone giant / abomination .... like creatures from World of Warcraft..... That would take some serious work to get though, CURRENTLY Way beyond my means.

Actually there is a Ghost in vcmi, which I was considering as using as step 1 in 3rd level >> ghost > phantom > reaper (I like that name)

BTW....I was reading your thread, it looks intriguing, and your town screens are AMAZING!!!!  I also love the gaming table, did you build it? That table would make tabletop games like Warhammer 40K or Dungeons and Dragons miniature games fantastic.

Thanks.

Those 'towscreens' are not of my making. They are simply artists' works I found as basis so I could make mock-ups of my proposals, which will be a bit of digging here and there, and some photoshoping, but those arts are not mine.

The tabletop game was also something I found, to illustrate the idea I have in mind. As far as I could tell, some of those things were mostly built for RPG workshops.

Okay, I don't read (or speak the language there) but there are several creatures I can definitely see working in this town.....
As far as an overall roster (without pics atm) I see as follows:

1. Skeleton Hounds / Grave Beasts
2. Vengeful Dead / Unforgiven Dead
3. Ghost / Phantom (Phantasm?)
4. Banshee / Ethereal Banshee
5. Mummy / Royal Mummy
6. Reaper / Grim Reaper
7. Bone Golem / Abomination

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Okay as a side note, I am so glad I have taken on this project. If nothing else I am learning soooooo much!!!!! For example I now have a DEF viewer app and a DEF maker app to play with! Thanks to all who continue to help me!!!!

Okay, this is a VERY rough draft, but here's a first look for the Abomination

Hello Draeganfire,

I like your town and I think it really fits H3 unlike others said. It looks certainly better than last Ubi attempts, and the drop of the green lights for blue light is a welcome change IMO, though I would personally like darker colours and not a sistematic use the light.

Town concept is too redundant with Necropolis, but well, I gess it could be funny to play with different versions of one same faction.

Creatures look good too, though those might be a bit more unfitting with the base game, most of all because they seem to have a higher graphical quality, though I should see them on the battlefield to really judge.

What I don't like is the town without fort on the adventure map. It looks too different, and those green lights make it too different to the actual inner view. The one with the fort looks better.

I really like your work too!!

My opinion is that this is either fit and don't fit into H3. Because this is something like a teaser from an enhanced graphics edition of H3 with 2D graphics according today's standard very eye catching, a more modern but still faithful to the original.

Very Very good, keep it up! Cheers.

I can see a lot of Warcraft in this, the crevice of the frost giants in dragonblight, the broken path of the makers, the building style of the titans from storm peaks and ulduar, the atmosphere of the northrend continent in general, and now you even want to import creatures? I personally don't think it fits, but I don't want to bring you down either so good luck with the project.

It doesn't have to fit, there is always possibility that some mapmaker uses it for RPG map; moreover there are now several graphic patches which basically replaced old editor with entire new one ((example), so a different town style definitely has its chances.
