Well, it seems quite well adapted so I think it would be a good replacement for Necropolis. To me it doesn't matter that much, I like the Warcraft universe, but I just wonder how the NWC purists would react. We've had a lot of bashing of Warhammer / Warcraft styles with Ashan over the years.

I also feel like it fits. I think you should consider the feeling ignited by your work, not actually a top-notch architecture analysis comparing this and that. Besides, that's about feeling when you play the game, right, if you feel like playing the same game and the townscreen brings me the idea of the same game.

Regarding creatures, I'm not fond of the 7th tier always being cliche of dragons or powerful beasts. I would dare having a strong Lich spellcaster on that tier. Also because, from the line-up you assembled, I don't know if there is any ranged unit.

I'm usually against replacing old towns with the new ones, but this one is a good candicate. Just replace Necropolis to get a new one.

I downloaded this pack as I was surprised there are additional creatures from chineses and I didn't know about, so I browsed it and indeed, there are not. First, Thank everyone for the continuing interest and feedback!!! I totally appreciate all of it, both the positive and the critical:

Totally agree with that!! it was definitely out of line with any existing town or mod town.

I am an absolute World of Warcraft addict, so I am not surprised by this observation, heck it's the same observation I made myself, and probably the reason I started with this town, in my original concept I had even made my castle floating like a homemade version of Dalaran.....

Funny you should say that..... My ultimate goal in creation in this game is to make a single map scenario which uses a 1024 x 1024 2 Tier map and includes 4 different town factions per player.... I have even toyed with the idea of a campaign expansion with a story based on this idea, something that includes many of the mods, and really brings them all into the story...While my art / programming skills are newborn, my writing and creativity are my strengths.

I had made a 144 x 144 map previously that included 16 town types by placing the 8 original towns on the map and then having the player choices being the mod towns, but it was too glitchy so far to share. I will mainly have to wait for map editor to catch up to my imagination (and for many more mod towns to be born) to see my mega game realized, but I am a obsessive fan so I can wait.

I had originally thought of going with a dragon type based on works from Silaneo, but an earlier post by Michal had helped to steer me in the current direction....

As to ranged units, I don't have an archer type so much, but was considering ranged special abilities for the banshee tier and the reaper tier, as well as a harpy-like attack and return for the ghost tier. Also I would love to figure out a way to make the hook attack used by the abomination, much like in WoW where he hooks the target from a distance and drags it adjacent to him.

Wow, coming from one of the people I consider a VCMI "boss" that seems high praise to me....I'll consider the thought depending on how frustrated I get with trying to place new creatures :-P

I have found some files that I think are part of what I need, but as I am SOOOOO not a professional 3D designer, I am still hunting and learning. The amount of knowledge I have gained just in the few days since I decided to take this project on has been amazing to me, a lot of which I owe to this community, thanks to all! And since I am stubborn, If I decide I want the unit, I will probably find a way to use it, even if I have to recruit help.

00_resources.zip/resources/res/creature/animation/undead....

this is where I found what I have found so far, my assumption was that the needed things are in the files somewhere, it's just kinda hodge-podge. Honestly I figured it was because I just didn't know what I was looking for.

There are 32-bit PNG spritesheets with creatures. They can be made to DEFs, but half-transparent pixels mean this requires almost pixel-by-pixel hand work to get BMPs with creatures animations.
Death Knight and Lich from these resources were already made by chineese modders.

Yeah, I was noticing that with the animation parts of the town screen, it's saved as one file with all the pics needed....I am still trying to wrap my head around how to work with that, might take a lil bit before I make postable updates. I also need to make upgrades to the creature dwellings, and I have NO idea what I am going to do for external dwellings as of yet.

Updated Picture

Okay, here is the "Fully Built" Valley minus animations. I had to add a few tweaks on some dwellings in order to give them upgraded structures, so some things may stand out a bit. I may tweak them later.

Hey guys, please consider using png transparent files instead of def files. Source materials are high quality and will be bad to loose it during converting to 8-bit bmp files. Silaneo's H5 Necro Town will show you how to make town withous using def files. It's a matter of jsons, and I agreed to help with jsons But I need final graphic files as*.png files.
