You know how mediocre this is? You know me - the one thing I'll defend about Ashan is the aesthetics, so you'd thing I'd be the one guy who loves this, right? Well, I downloaded the free painting workshop version, designed one figure, half-efforted a second, and got bored one right before the fifteen minute mark. Yep, I only lasted fourteen minutes before I completely lost interest, quit the game, and deleted it from my computer. It's THAT mediocre.

Ehm? I spent about 15 min in total designing figuring and hours in actual gameplay.

Which is actually fun.

If they wanted a tactical arena game they should've considered a duel map like Elvin's.

Nonsense, my version does not feature collectable ubi figurines™ or real time tactical decisions ^^

In all seriousness, Elvin, there's no better idea for an arena game than a custom Hero and army creation coupled with a bit of randomness / replayability and a good tactical battlefield in an online environment. I believe that your map turned into a game would be a great success, even better than DoC in its glory days. It's a gem just waiting to be unearthed, I can't for the life of me understand how this was not considered in the many years after Heroes 5.

Easy, too much work. You have to get the game balance right first, before even looking into faction vs faction balance and viable build varieties. And then examine what hero level/artifact/army strength combinations work best, iron out imbalances that occur in each and so on. That requires not only an experienced team but also constant playtesting even if the game is released in a good state. So far ubi has picked questionable teams and only brushed the subject of balance.

EDIT:

I should also mention that I am not the only one who made a map like this. Fans from other communities have also been busy with such projects

Just imagine if on top of that you add an adventure map and townscreens with structures to build for armies to recruit! Maybe there could even be artifacts.

Too much work? No way, that's just an excuse for laziness.
Balance would not be a problem if you take stacks out of the equation and introduce corps, like the way Civ 6 works where you can have 1, 2 or 3 units of the same tier on a hex. It wouldn't have to necessarily be like Heroes 5 duel map, you just take that as a base and work from there. It has way more potential than Showdown and I would certainly enjoy it more than painting figurines and smashing keys for gameplay.

No it wouldn't, you'd just do everything on a screen just like assembling a deck in DoC, you don't necessarily have to emulate a map to travel between objects and customize your hero and army. It would be easy and quick to do it between screens, then you'd find matches and hop directly on the tactical battlefield.

I tried this painting tool. It looks sorta fun, but it just lacks a lot of vital things, which are incorporated in the base game, I think (like zooming in, turning the figure around and using other colors).

And, for a painting tool, it is quite slow, even.

This, THIS! This is what we all wanted! The dream finally came true! I couldn't be more happier! I mean after so many years, Ubisoft finally listens to their true fans that loved H3 and H5. What could possibly be better than this? You can paint your miniatures and even battle with them!? In my favorite universe Ashan? WOW! AND ALL OF THAT FOR 20$! F***ING AMAZING!

I am just wondering if the game will be finished in few years from now, as it seemingly has even lower budget than DoC and Heroes Online. Let's just pull out a classic verriker and finish with 'lol'

Btw, hi everyone.

Haha apart from few other games, I still play H3 and H5 with friends, and now H5.5, and I still prey to the god that someone will buy out the rights on Heroes M&M franchise from Ubisoft and make a good god-damn game. I still have scars from H6 and H7 painful experience.

I can still see that these forums are as positive as ever.

Regarding Turn-Based Combat
24 JANUARY - UBIJIMOTHY
Salutations Heroes,

We’ve been pouring over your feedback in order to solidify our priorities moving forward. One item that we have seen relates to changing the combat to a turn-based format. We take your feedback very seriously and so would like to take a moment to explain why we have chosen not to place this within our priorities.

When we began development of Might & Magic SHOWDOWN, the core vision driving the game was bringing miniature figurines to life – to imbue them with an animus all their own, just as so many of us envisioned when we were younger. Real-time action is one of the pillars on which our game stands and we believe a shift to turn-based would go against our fantasy and original vision.

That said, we have heard the feedback about our real-time combat system and are looking at how we can address it while staying true to our vision for the game.

This does not mean that we are not open to major alterations to the game, however, and we hope that the changes resulting from our recent Feedback Update illustrate our commitment to both the Early Access platform and you, our players.

Make sure you tune in to the official Ubisoft channel (https://twitch.tv/Ubisoft) this Friday at 4pm GMT (5pm CET, 11am EST) as UbiJimothy will be going into more detail about upcoming changes and plans based on your feedback!

We hope to surprise you with what we deliver in the coming weeks!
-Your MMS Team
