You guys must get it in your head that Might & Magic is now since a couple of years a brand name. I mean, they could make a game called "Might & Magic: Brawlball", and that would be the Ashan Blood Bowl version. Or Might & Magic: Dungeon Warden, which would be the Ashan Dungeon builder game or whatever the hell they want to do.
How about Might & Magic: Mount Racing, the Ashan fantasy "Horse" racing game?

Just because it's "Might & Magic" on the package, it doesn't mean it has to be a HoMM-like game.

In this case, it clearly is NOT. Which is probably for the better, all things considered.

I agree. But there has to be something unique about it, than being a copy of other games. People and sites that played games like Crusaders or Warriors of Might & Magic said the games sucked.

The way I see it, the only thing that is "Might & Magic" about this Showdown are the figure models, taken from H6 and H7, and that's about it.

If back in the days of h3 someone would have told me 15 years from now the IP would do paint figurines with automated combat I would have kicked him in the nutts.

From my perspective, their approach leaves a lot to be desired. They have a fanbase that likes tbs and rpgs, making a semi-moba makes as much sense as making a racing title. Dark messiah, sure. Clash, sure. MMX was anticipated even if not what everyone was expecting. But while different games, there was *some* cohesion at least. What's next, a heroes rts? A might&magic fighting game? It really doesn't help to dilute the series that much, even if the spinoffs were actually good titles.

I personally think it was in my head years ago as soon as I heard Heroes of Might and Magic was actually part of a big Might and Magic series of RPGs, clearly that game was a very loose spinoff leveraging name recognition, however the games were great so who cares (similar with the Clash of Heroes) lol

what suggest to do once this is in one's head though, franchise is 31 years old and beaten to an irrevocable pulp by Ubisoft, is one supposed to give unearned benefit of the doubt to terrible publisher and refrain to comment on bad, low effort cashgrab spinoffs as if they don't exist or what lol

is nice work if you can get it to a translator but otherwise utter dross, as pointed out this "game" isn't even a game so much as bad Photoshop tech demo lol

What doesn't help is that the FLAGSHIP sucks.
THAT is bringing the brand down. With a likable, successful H7 release, Showdown would be given a different reception (and probably a bigger budget), more people taking a look, less people being negative as opposed to "not my kind of game, but wtf".

@JJ That doesn't help but it's not like they were interested in the spirit and mechanics of this license in the first place, and a bad spin-off would still be a bad spin-off anyway.

So, let me get this straight. This is a spin-off of might and magic, only that it has nothing to do with might and magic. You may say, but "Heroes was a spin-off of might and magic too!". Yes, but they shared the same universe. The only thing that binds the franchise nowadays is the "gameplay" or the shabby attempt to recreate it by Ubishaft as they changed the universe. So this final "showdown" has nothing to do with the franchise, it doesn't share gameplay, story, core purpose(when the **** where there miniatures in Might and Magic?), factions (units don't count as factions). It's more of a Warhammer spin-off than anything, they already ripped off races like dark eleves, so ripping off the miniatures was just the next step.

There's more to an IP that binds it than gameplay. Models, names, music, ability descriptions and icons, all of these assets which Showdown has. There's no denying that this is an M&M game, all the more reason why it's so enraging. This is yet another release under the M&M name that has no ambition or passion behind it.

They could have even meddled with Arcomage card-game a bit, implementing visual clashes and painting of this and that, which would feel kinda nice within MM universe.

Really lmao when I read they say "no Ashan" in the advertising, first because indeed Ashan doesn't need story-telling to be all over the place, and second, because why even say that? Are they thinking they can still milk a bit from Kreegan atheists? With that? LOL

I think Faction-representants would be the pilots. A Necropolis might or magic hero, for example. Could lay powers on the race, like plaguing bombs, making opponents slower... or raising skeletons who would jump in front of enemies, blocking their path, a la those marmots back in Mario Kart 1.

I'll stop here, before hyping Ubisoft.
