Eh, who can say.

Here's the thing, what if people wanted to join the civil service? I only understand that it lasts twice as long as military service, but what do you actually do in there?

here in the states, i think that same thing's called "reserves". it's voluntary. they do the same thing the active service does, only on weekends instead of everyday. and occasionally, they get deployed to foreign countries for a stay exactly like the active service would.

this is all, of course, assuming that "civil service" and "the reserves" are the same thing; minus the "voluntary".

Here civil service means helping the community in some way. Helping at hospitals, at social services services and the like.

Today were these two protests.

At 11:30, the pro-military service guys have arrived. I should've guessed those were the people that defended the country. Their reason? Because of the "rising of the Serbs" (means that Serbs would try and take over the country where they think there are a lot of Serbs, or something like that). They also said how there's just too many people playing video games (Call of Duty ahem) and are too *feminised*.

I can only hurl at such arguments. It's only because in our neighboring country, there is this small land called "Republic of Srpska", which wants independence. They also had a poll about celebrating a certain day, which was forbidden by Dayton contract with the US.

The grossest thing about it? That mr. Glasnović arrived (a parliament member) that said a lot of stupid things. Today, he said something like this:

Quote:
Anyone that is against the military service is against the country, is a Yugoslavio-phile and is a clown. Everyone with Christ and Croatia, and death to communists.

I'd rather not go into details much, but these people aren't exactly the brightest thing, so to speak. But even they said the 3 weeks service was too low. But what's else to say when the president says how "she won't listen to anyone that says 3 weeks is low". Upon being asked isn't the military service too expensive, the pro-military protest organiser said how "the government wouldn't be at a risk if they organised and investigated the issue first". As if he doesn't know that yesterday the minister of education, who has plagiarised, has been voted to stay in the government. How can the country be led by such corrupt people, and the lesser folk can say how they trust the country? I don't know.

Half an hour later, the anti-military service people arrived, with LGBT people supporting them. It was talk how they won't give away their children to die for their country, how a lot of parliament/government people never served the military and such.

I was somewhat expecting a certain clash between these two forces. But, nothing really much happened in the end.
