Some calligraphy

Since some enjoyed a bit the Arabic alphabet, and since the strike is striking hard, I had a bit of time employed for this for the fun of it, I wanted it done before I go throwing Molotovs on Monday.

(To those who have a "v" I was forced to replace by an "f", since the first doesn't exist in Arabic. There's a letter for it but it's not official so it didn't want to work with it.)

These are png files and background is with transparency, so you can change it and manipulate it as you wish.

I hope you'll enjoy.

Not that much Oforfsake, actually I have time to spare. Before I'll get jailed next week, probably lol

@Geny: yep. note that I put a "g" like in ground for you, the letter doesn't officially exist but I found it. G, V and P don't exist in the official Arabic.

I like mine. I guess, letters are written different in the beginning. and in the end, since when I look at Artu and Antalyan, I see they start with same symbol (you must read it from right to left people) but that symbol can't be found in Galaad. So, vowels disappear only mid-word?

It's nice that this is in the Tavern, too, not VW, so we can check whenever we want. Lovely gesture, AlHazin. Is this a software or did you simply write them with a drawing app?

TY AlHazin...interesting.

I'll share a couple of impressions.

1. I used to sign my name by making a "decreasing wavy line" from the last letter till it disappeared. Much like a "Sidewinder-snake" tracks across the sand.

2. My name is a blunt single syllable word originating from Old English, meaning March or Mearc (Mercian) for the larger-grasslands or no-man's lands. William the Conqueror created Marcher-Lords and gave them great power and independence to rule the border between England and Wales. (btw...you see, I was "Struck" also)

So...seeing that 3rd character become artistic?...maybe you will understand my interpretation.

Make it great.

Not to derail this fantastic thread, but Merci are you familiar with William the Conqueror or is this just a fun fact? Only asking cause I have a super man-crush on that man (doing a third year history module on him <3, just had a lecture on the Harrying of the North).

Well, it's a little more complicated ^^ look at that first letter in "Artu" and "Antalyan", it's a bar with a "hamza" upon it, that letter's called "aliph" (like alpha) and equals the A. But in that case, it is not a vowel, but a consonant. In Galaad though, it plays the role of a vowel, and is present in the word. It's just the way the letter L unites with the letter "vowel A" that is odd compared to the others.

Here is the "A" (which is a vowel here):

The second "A" is alone and is composed of a consonant A and its own vowel, so we combine them and the sign of that combination is the wave on the top of it. I did the same in Yogi because it indicates also when you have to do a very long vowel "A".

I used a software online, it gives multiple styles and I choosed the most appropriate imo.

I'm still not sure lol I'm so used to read that I don't look that much to the characters. In your name it's the one who has been treated the most that's why it is so artistic. The letter "kaf" (K) is a letter with a high head as if it wanted to look further above the letters before it.

You nailed exactly what I meant. My downward spiral made my whole name have a "high-head" as you call it. Thanks again for sharing. I enjoy Calligraphy a lot and always have I think.

Btw, this has me thinking; years back I found an awesome book that had old Calligraphy from the Middle-ages. More like elaborate art around single letters. If I can find it, I'll send you a link so you can download it if you wish.

Cheers

@ tSar...sending you an HCM so we can cuss&discuss your studmuffin.
