NimoStar mate he never said anything about making a Heroes always online MMO game or wanting to turn Heroes into an always online if he ever gets the IP back lol

what he was on about in the video is old Might and Magic Online RPG project he designed at 3DO in the nineties which got canned, which he talks about in historical terms, but he never said or implied he would want to make Heroes into that as far as I saw lol

Does this not sound exactly like "Pay-to-win" "micro"transaction scheme to you? And this is exactly what Creature Quest does.

How exactly is it pay to win and why are microtransactions bad? Even mainstream PC giants have in-game stores for their games. World of Warcraft gives you instant leveling and booster packs on top of paying a monthly fee, virtually every MOBA game sells cosmetics and custom items, most card games also sell card packs. And where did you come up with the idea that JVC would've implemented that in Heroes 5 back in 2003? Microtransactions in a TBS? I believe you got your facts all wrong man.

World of Warcraft is also pay to win MMORPG, they even sell ingame currency for real money.

MOBA items do not affect gameplay in any way.

Sure, you are free to decide if play those games or not, but Heroes is not made to be pay-to-win, imnagine Heroes 3 if people could pay 100 euros for fully upgraded town at the beggining of the game...

Imagine if Chess let you pay your money for extra pieces or "levelling up" your King.

Competitive gameplay requires a level playing ground. Microtransactions are not good for strategy games.

For Heroes, I had a very cool design for V that I would still like to do and now with all the connectivity and server power available, so many new cool things could be done with the Heroes franchise… (raising and waving hands in air)

You see exactly here, he's talking of Heroes V project he had before and how...
"Now with all the connectivity and server power available so many new things could be done with the Heroes Franchise"...

That's not an RPG. He's talking about currently, now, what would he do with the Heroes franchise. That sounds like an Always-Online new heroes, otherwise connectivity and server power would be irrelevant; it's like Heroes VI squared.

Like I said, I respect JVC and what he did but those doesn't sound like nice plans. He's also a CEO, not a game developer now, so he's involved with the bottom line; his responsibility will be with the profit, not with the gameplay development.
He won't be head of the development team if he's the boss of the company...

As UBI failed, everyone expects for the "Return of the King" (Not, not Rob King ) but doesn't seem like a good idea either. Heroes games were made by the whole NWC staff, not a single person.

I know Creature Quest supports the site in exchange for ads and it's a nice detail. But still doesn't mean that Online HVIII is good. Of course I would hope to be wrong, but it's what it says there.

Don't shoot the messenger just because you don't like the message, it's not me that said it...

It's entirely you that said it, lol. You're reading that in a way that suits you. I am almost positive that by connectivity and server power he means an easier distribution of a product, as in contrast to back in the day when you didn't have digital download but everything was carried on Floppy or CD. JVC mentions that in a video interview which was posted not long ago in another thread. And even if it didn't mean that, it wouldn't necessarily mean microtransactions, so way to go jumping to conclusions there.

Oh, and cosmetics can give a tactical advantage in MOBAs, you just how no idea how. Also, WoW is definitely not pay to win, skipping levels and buying currency for an early start is not pay to win end-game content. Wrong again buddy.

Connectivity and server power would not do any "new" things for the game if it only was digital distribution.

It would be the same game just downloaded. In fact games with digital distribution are also sold as DVDs...

"so many new things could be done"
Downloading the games isn't a new thing, all Heroes games are downloadable right now...

WoW sells epic mounts and equipment too...
Not to mention taking advantage of the persistent nature of the game, and the farming/grinding element, people pay for other people to play for them and grind. (see here)

It doesn't "suit" me. If it would suit me I woudn't be saying it... because I don¿'t want it, it just screams "always online" (which also could not be modded because of "so much power server connectivity, etc.", and modding is the only thing keeping heroes games alive)

Say the truth, the only reason this gets a pass it's because it's JVC, if Erwan would be saying this people would be all over it.

Even you at the beggining reacted negatively.

Even Verikker had a negative comment here at the interview where he had basically the same sentiment I express now.

So what changed in this month? Do tell...
