Casting expert Berserk twice... imagine the carnage.


maybe cooldowns should be introduced in HotA. eg: can only cast Berserk every 3 turns. Therefore, you can cast Berserk and another spell (be it buff, debuff, damage spell).

A sane move would be to regress berserk to single target, it is the mass version which is out of proportions. As for double cast, I experienced it in WoG and it gets out of proportions quite fast too, the game is not designed to handle such anomalies. Spells as blind, force field, teleport, sand mines, fire walls, earthquake, resurrection, clone, berserk etc are too strong if cast twice/round. Way impossible to handle.

I would welcome a cooldown mechanic.
A simple way to do it, is you can't cast the same spell twice, you need to cast another spell in between. Then you can't spam the same spell over and over, which would be more interesting.
Also Haste/Slow and Bless/Curse need to cancel each other, to avoid "the double effect".

if second cast would be in after waiting turn it wouldn't be so bad...
also not so bad if both sides could cast their spells at the same time at the beginning of the round regardless of their fastest creature speed...
some spells have similar effect..effects are often doubled, tripled...but we can remove them all in on cast by cheap Dispel or Cure...

Maurice made a better suggestion somewhere else for Sorcery. It could be for Spell Power what is Intelligence to Spell Points.
This way it would boost not only damage spells.
Maybe displayed like "value before Sorcery (value after Sorcery)" in hero screen.

Still, many spells don't crucially depend on Spell Power.

With a percentual bonus it might be difficult to get it useful (especially in the early game) but not too powerful in the hands of Sorcery specialists.

Yes that would be great, then not only damage spells, but also Cure, Hypnotize, Animate Dead, Resurrection, Sacrifice and the 4 elementals spells would benefit as well.

If you wanna try, it's all available in AC mod.

As someone who has grinded his head for the last years about this magic/balance iusse, i can tell you, that if you want to give double cast to the mage class, you need to compensate by further exposing the weakness of the mage class. You need to tie it to several kind of condition. This can be secondary skills, hero level, stats or whatever. Just giving extra cast by picking sorcery is not enough, because then every hero has access to it and it becomes a mandatory pick. Fortunatly H3 gives plenty of possibilities, so if one is creative, good solutions can be found. You also have this side conditions as Sal mentioned with Berserk spell, which is just broken, these would need extra fixing. For the rest of the spells i see no real problem.

Imo the only change I see could happen, is that sorcery can increase spell power to boost other spells aswell, guess that would be fair and Hota style. Nothing spectacular, but still

That's been a feature for a long time. When you build a structure a red x appears on the town portrait/town selection menu. The one that is on the opposite side of the hero portrait/hero selection

You do have that little picture that displays in the bottom square when you click on a town. As well as how much gold it makes in a day. But I would like the Grail one.

Having all these displayed on that tiny town portrait would make it really cluttered.

No problem mate, we all make mistakes sometimes.

Well looks like there would be room for exactly 3 icons on the town display and 3 icons would only be possible for one town, as there is only 1 Capitol per player and 1 Grail, so it should'nt clutter things up too much.

And fully developed towns would have the green check-mark then? Cause I like that idea. Along with the Capitol and Grail indicators.

How about simply a 1-pixel wide border around the Town images? Green frame = something can still be built here this turn; red frame = something has been built here this turn, but there’s still more to be built later; yellow frame = this Town is complete.

This color scheme corresponds to the color of the name bar for each building in the Town building screen. That one features grey as well, but you don’t need it for this purpose.

You could then suffice with 2 specific symbols for the Grail and the Capitol.

Well, lets get at least a lil more constructive... and yeah I want artifacts quite badly for HotA Coz I always expand games to put in more useful items with special skins if possible

While sorting out some stuff on my HDD I found some old drawings I did some years ago. Was for a mod i did for myself some years ago. Thought I would share some of the stuff.

HotA team may have the picture for new artifacts at least if they like.

possible effect:
-adds fireball to spellbook and reduce its cost to 0 (major)
-casts mass-prayer at start of battle (relic)
-all units are resistant to fire spells (-20% fire damage) and immune to berserk spell (major)

I guess I'm more skilled now while working for some more years with graphic tools... I could also redo some of the stuff
