What do you do on your countries Nationalday......?!
As almost no one of you know Norways national day is on
17th of may, about a month to. Im going to celebrate with some friends I think and my family.
Here in Norway we got something we call "Russ" theyre the senior students the ones who r done with school. Theyre dressed in red, blue or black suit after what kind of line theyve went.
They r doin lots of Crazy and weird stuff and some of the things they do is just so f****** funny, running naked through the streets, jumping of bridges(down in water of course), have sex in public, kiss the teacher damn my mind has stopped.....
My question is When is youre National day and how do you celebrate it??

Here in Canada, it's July 1st. But I live in the province of Quebec (french-speaking canadians) and they have the "provincial" national day call St-Jean Baptiste (St-Jean baptiste was another holiday but they decided to make it on the same day).
Weird thing is, Quebec in in Canada (Quebec is the province which keeps trying to separate from Canada). So although we're canadians, most people work on Canada day (1st of july) and are off on June 24th (St-Jean)while the rest of the country is off on July 1st and works on the 24th of June.
St-Jean in Quebec is big shows pretty much everythere (local bands and singers performing free) and there is much beer drinking, rejoicing with Quebec flags showing up everywhere and separatist fervor.
Ah the joy of a different culture in such a beautiful country!

Our Independence Day is July 4th.
Most often, there is a fireworks display the night before all over the country.
The day of we barbeque during the day and at night go trolling for Brits and shoot them in honor of our forefathers.

March 25th, October 28th...
parades, ceremonies, big speeches and the likes... me on the other hand just sit home, with friends trying to avoid all the "heroic" movies...

Well...
It's always a Happy day when I have my birthday..(NOT)
It's so boring for a richyrich to grow another year... It's like everyday is your birthday.. so when the real birthday finally takes place... Then it's nothing special... Also christmas and all that other snow aren't a big deal for me... All I get is money under the christmas tree..
For ONTOPIC better(UHM) festial things in holland you have to know this man
SINT-NICOLAAS- it's on 5 December and it's a stupid day were children get present from a man that isn't even real and has around 3000000 copies running around on the night of december the 5th, his helpers present black people that are used as slave... Ofcours it's different and the ZWARTE PIETEN=Black Piet(Dutch name) are funny guys throwing with candy all around the small country...(most of it ends up in sea because holland is so small!)(Also it's something like halloweeen.. the black Piets are actually really scary!) If your a bad child(Or spoiled child, like me!) than you get with the whip/roede I don't know the english word... it's not the whip but something different that looks like it..(Pretty interesting isn't it?  )
I can't think of other days... Queen Day? were all people(Exept for me I wear BLACK clothes that day) Wear orange clothes and scream FEYENOORD(Dutch most populair soccer team) and pray for the queen that has aged another year...
Ofcourse there is a big market with all garbage the people want to dump for low prizes.. I don't wear this orange snow because it present holland/soccer and the queen.. As you all know I dislike all 3 of them!
You see.... Holland is a strange country!
They have stupid special days.. and the coolest(In my opinion) is Halloween... BUT ofcourse holland doesn't have a HALLOWEEN day..  So I go for christmas(Not for jezus and stuff... But because it's the birthday of my mother aswel )

Celebrate Dydd St. Dafyd or St. David's Day on 1st March. We wear daffodils and get quiet drunk really... not much else!

I forgot serveral more days I guess..
Like that day when holland is freed from war and stuff.. (or is that called Liberation day?, Uhm wesley THINK! lady liberty is something with freedom... and liberation day must be freedom! Yeah it's that day... )
And some others... But those two are the ones that i remember first when think about this subject. And ofcourse I can't joke when telling about the War thing.. That's up to other dutchies.

6th of june...nothing special i guess, our last national day rocked tho since we won a WC qualifyer game with 6-0 at that time, beer&football... yeah its sooo good

Well, stiven lives in a little country town with plows and horses. in the capitol Stockholm, we usually have sex with really hot young chicks on the 6th of june. It´s really cool, we´re hoping this bold tradition will spread across the world.

...tons of people are always setting off fireworks illegally around here, other than those authorized by the state or whatever...
...oh, and some people have a dinner feast, parties or whatever...and you're required to wear your clothes inside out, and walk on your hands.

How about 29 October, 23 April and 19 May???? so many national days
29 October=Turkey became a republic
23 April=foundation of the parliament
19 May=when the National War begun

eeeeer actually Australia Day is January 26th ...I know as its a very very special day for me....as it is also my sons birthday ...lucky for him he always gets a holiday on his birthday....

Well, I'm Canadian, so I mostly wake up, have a beer, and go back to sleep. I might find time to salute the flag somewhere in there. It's not that I'm not patriotic, it's just that it's just a day like any other.
Incidently, I was born in Australia, so on Australia Day I have a Fosters and go back to sleep.

In France : The 14 th july.
It is the day a famous prison (La Bastille) in Paris fall in the hands of the revolutionnary.
But since we won the football WC 98 at home the 12 th july, we have now 3 national days one after the other
