I think we triggered the Erwinflake.

Yes, Tolkien took inspiration from various mythologies, and epics of old, mostly germanic ones.

but again, the others are right, there are no Tolkienesque themes in heroes games. maybe a few, but I don't see them.
We have no "average guy rising up an conquering all odds and achieving what many believed impossible" trope, which is the main one in lotr. you know, Frodo, an average hobbit farmer jackass pretty much bleeps the big bad guy by destroying his precious little trinket, whilst resisting the temptations of power from said trinket. He had plenty of help of course, but in the end, he conquers all.

I guess spoiler alert.

I would personnally like to create a Might and Magic community more oriented for those who have loved (or simply appreciated) HOMM6, MMX and Heroes Online...

I think it would end dying. If you want really to help a community like that, help generating content for it. I'm not sure if simply taking out members from a greater community to make a small one would suffice for a forum life line. The only thing you would achieve was singling out said members even more. The idea of making something last is trying to find and provide elements which grasp the interest of others as well, so they can join in or, at least, help somehow to keep things going.

You can Always get to learn from the moderators from said subforums here in HC and with Pol in CH, if you wish, who they think are the most active members on those places, then contact them and see what you can share.

But I think it would be completely counter productive shying away into an unknown forum instead of debating on a broader community. It might be slim, but there's always a chance to have somebody else see your efforts.

I'm not fond of any of those games, MMX is the one I enjoyed slightly when played, but will never play again. Although, if somehow they managed modding it into a more interesting game, I would keep an eye on it. You never know. But you need to be visible.

what he says in essence is to make a safe space for erwinist virgins, so they could feel safe from all the NWC chads that inhabit this forum for example.
There they can have one sided discussions on how awesome the ubi "games" are.
comparable to the screeching lefties. you know, different opinions are ok, long as they're different in the same way.

I rather see this as a space where fans of HOMM6, MMX and Heroes Online could work on constructive stuffs related to these ones, usual haters unwelcome for sure (fanboys easily recognize them, according to Parzival in "Ready Player One")...
besides, it seems that NWC guys hardly agree to disagree...

And for the 4 left wings, I fight them in every ways !

I agree that homm 2 and 3, even 1, were better games by leagues; than 4-x. Not saying that nwc fans hate ubi fans; just that you guys are:

1. Wrong.
2. Not fans of actual homm games, but the aborted and deformed attempts at homm-ish games.
3. Pro-ubi fanboys(relating to the homm universe), which makes no sense; that's like saying you'd rather love the whip, and agree that your name SHOULD be toby, instead of kunta kintae.

You are all wrong on every points for sure, none of us recognize ourselves in these !

And HOMM 4 is pretty good in the end, even if I only succeeded recently when it come to appreciate it !

And for the 4 left wings :

-Communists/Greens

It's not like H6-7 did not make some decent additions or the occasional gameplay update that was long overdue. I mean if you play H3 you can find any number of features that could be improved in some way. Even so, last couple of heroes miscarriages didn't manage to get nearly far enough with the end result being underwhelming. Personally I don't find any single heroes as the 'best' despite having some clear favourites. The best for me would be a homm 5 update with more focus on mythological creatures, earlier game aesthetics, more fast-paced gameplay, improved skill/magic/atb system, improved battlefield/combat mechanics, return of 2d hexes, better developed town builds, redesign of siege combat, toned down army growth, more adventure map possibilities and so on.

You know, the basics It's not that unreasonabe really, gameplay has evolved since 1998(not just within the homm series) and the aforementioned can be implemented without making the game less intuitive or harder to play. Familiar but fresh enough to explore all over again and learn its new intricacies.

HOMM 5 is amongst the worsts with HOMM 1 andHOMM 7, half of the budget of the game sunken in ugly graphics (even according to the critteria of back then)plus bad scenario and scenery, and a gameplay that have mostly not evolved of a iota from HOMM 3

He doesn't say h5 sucked, he's just pointing out the issues it had. About graphics, what I dislike is the art direction more than the render, the townscreens were great for the time.

it still looks great now. The only beef I had with it is the monotonous color scheme of each town. What is the point of changing camera angles when every scene look similar (necro, inferno, fortress, stronghold, dungeon). I can barely remember which building does what at this point. It must be a special kind of genius designer to think that civilizations/cultures would pick a color tone to adhere to.

I still hate the transition from 2d (or at least isometric view of H4) to full 3d for adventure map. Not a single version from 5 to 7 has a good adventure map to me. The old school style is much more intuitive and informative.

It's not about H2,3 or 5. I just mentioned H5 because it's easier to describe and more fresh to memory, if I started with H2 I'd have to mention more things.
