I know, right? I just typed up a post in the phone thread and went to press "Submit Reply", and had the happy experience of having all my text unrecoverably deleted. Don't know what I'd do without it.

i've never even noticed the button was there, to be honest. not a very good place for the button at all though, i must say. right next to the "submit reply" button? really? right next to it? so, if your finger or your mouse slips, everything you typed out, linked to, whatever, goes bye-bye?

reminds me of microsoft windows:

do you know how many times i tried deleting something, only to rename it or bring up the programming that tries to create a shortcut for the file i'm trying to delete? do you know how many times i've tried renaming something, only to have to retrieve it from the recycle bin because i accidentally deleted it? it happens MUCH more frequently than it needs to, simply because the button was badly placed, and i'm prone to doing things much faster; and with varying accuracy.

imo, if you're going to create and keep such an absolutely useless button, you could at least MOVE the retarded thing to where it wouldn't be activated by accident.

i don't use the keyboard to play games. i use a mouse(or a usb controller), like a normal human. i only use the keyboard to type words. but thanks for that special poop-nugget of advice; the issue with the horrible button placement still exists.

well, as i've never noticed the button in question before, my only real previous issue in this thread, was where said button was placed.

but since you're actually asking something else entirely unrelated to the issue at hand(creating an issue with yourself personally in the process), i'll add that, instead of proposing something to me like i'm some fool who doesn't know how to address obvious and badly-implemented web features, you could use tact and not be so smarmy about it? or, hell, i don't know, maybe REALIZE that i have a very valid point, and address that instead?

anything else you want me to clear up for you, or does that about cover it? i realize, of course, that i have could have been more tactful in my first post on this subject(that, btw, wasn't directed at you or even valeriy, but to the mistake at hand). i myself, am still a work in progress.

Good point. Back in the day when the original HC scripting was made (close to 20 years ago) it was common practice to put both submit and reset buttons just because HTML code allowed for it. It was in the original forum script used for HC and I never edited that part.

It was an easy change to make so I removed the reset form button from post reply, new thread and new poll pages, adding a link to forum rules instead (opens in a new window/tab). I've kept the reset button on post editing page where it could be useful but moved it to the left and added a wide space between the two buttons to reduce the chance of accidents.

I encourage everyone to stay constructive and positive with your suggestions. I don't appreciate being told what to do (ex: "if you're going to create and keep such an absolutely useless button, you could at least MOVE the retarded thing") and will consider deleting such negativity from this forum in the future. If you have a tendency of impulsive negativity it may be best to resort to another form of venting or stress release prior to posting.

I apologize. As I said, I could have been more tactful about it. I just couldn't for the life of me figure out why anyone would place the button there; and I didn't expect to even be heard on the subject(as has been the recurring theme since forever with you, valeriy). That you fixed the mistake gives me some hope that maybe we can actually have a two-way relationship, instead of me just pointing out issues and being ignored.

btw, that was in no way me trying to tell you what to do. i don't understand how you could see it like that. what "if you're going to create and keep such an absolutely useless button, you could at least MOVE the retarded thing" means, is that it should have been implemented better from the get-go. i wouldn't presume to tell you what to do at all, valeriy. that makes no sense whatsoever, especially being that you never listened to me before.

edit 3: the "reset changes" button only shows up when i'm logged in. is that by design? i'm just wondering. btw, the specified changes to both buttons are great.

The way you've rephrased what you said is much better and doesn't come across as negative. I suggest posting like this in the first place.

it's hard for me to tolerate anything that makes life more difficult than it has to be; i tend to rail against such things anywhere i find problems. but like i said before, none of that was directed at you, but at the potential issue itself. that you unknowingly created the potential issue wasn't the point; not for me. i did come across more harshly than i should have, though. it's just my initial reaction to such things. i wouldn't take it personally.

Since reseting changes is and can only be a feature available while editing and to be able to edit, it is mandatory to log in, it is by design.
