In the campaign I played he had the Armageddon's Blade Roland portrait:

well it would be a bit unlikely for him to have the Heroes 2 portrait in a Heroes 3 campaign wouldn't it mate lol

Nothing's quite as funny as trolling yourself though, last year i wrote an essay that was extremely critical of St Louis IX (who at the time i held in the highest regard, he had an Arturian kingly quality to him).

"Never start a land war in Asia" can be replaced with "never start a Crusade in Egypt". The Crusaders in Egypt always got their asses kicked. They kept trying to secure the neck between Africa and Asia minor, which would have been highly effective if it worked but who the hell lays seige in a marsh?

"HEAR YE HEAR HE, BY ORDER OF THE KING, PUT THOSE TREBUCHETS IN THE ****ING SWAMP OVER THERE. GRATITUDE, BROS.

Hell,  the caliphate in Egypt would be the first state in history to decisively slaughter a Mongol invasion force. They were juicing on something. Anatolia and Palestine were much easier targets.

And Europe as well. All in all, Saladin kicked everybody in the area, and the Latin states didn't last in the end.

Egypt has always been a rather weak military nation, what made it defeat everybody that tome were the Mamluks, those soldiers who later founded their own nation in Egypt are the ones who kicked the infidel Mongols.

And then fell to the Ottomans. Every Pharaoh has his Moses, as we say.

Salah ad-Din's comments were hilarious, we traded with them, then they attacked us, now we make peace and resume trade.

Right, he indeed turned 41 (not 42, he died before his birthday in 1199), not 33 as I claimed earlier. The age of 33 was when he led the army in the Holy Land.

You are always careless about your information, Maurice.
