Not really Balkans have a way of being able to team up then backstab each other regardless of what might seem 'higher priority' to us

Zcom prolly shot a cow or cracked the wrong joke at the wrong pub.

Thief of Time is funky, but I prefer Night Watch myself. The monk also kind-of features in the Long Earth series too. Is Stranger Things really that good? from what I've heard it's plain 80's nostalgia

I'm not sure if I'd say it's "really that good". I find it pretty entertaining to watch, but if you think too much about it, it starts falling apart. Also made me appreciate Winona Ryder as an actress. Her facial expressions are crazy!

"Restoration" of a historical site in Bursa. While at it, they might as well put an aquapark in there. You'd think that conservatives would at least be good at preserving but no, they must be shallow at that just as well.

That's one hell of a restoration artu. It does look good but it has lost its identity and character.

LOL Sal, I'd seen that pic before but didn't know which was the original one.

"Conservatives" aren't interested in conserving anything. They should have just built their... I don't know what the hell that is... resort? They should have just built their resort on open ground instead of gutting, mutilating, and sexually assaulting a historic ruin.

But they'd get less tourists that way Historic site, guaranteed traffic.

You're an ignorant. It is art, check HERE

Notice how the article draws parallels between right-wing/populists and those complaining such thing humiliates Paris. Sad world.

Modern art, what's not to love? Unless you are an uncultured barbarian who fails to see its brilliance.

Sigh. I still remember visiting a gallery where they told us that after photography was invented, there was no longer a need to accurately portray what we saw. I still call bs on that. Expressing emotion and meaning is an admirable goal but one might as well put some effort in creating a work of art.

Honestly I'd be more concerned about it being in poor taste rather than it being scandalous. And sure, what everyone sees can differ but the artist may want to provoke too

Not all emotions are pure tho Elvin. If i was an artist id also create works that induced hatred and rebuked by onlookers. I want to assault the very essence of another with my art.

Well, when you provoke the art boundaries, you still have to come with art.

Then is a matter of context, Paris has some of the most gorgeous buildings and interiors worldwide, if you want to challenge that, come with something creative and technically interesting. A green anal plug called -surprise- "tree" is just relevant of the dumbness and the ignorance of our modern world, given that it passed all official checks and was wholeheartedly recommended by all art instances.

Again to provoke an emotional reaction, insulting and provocative. It's location isn't necessary key to evoke that response , (id be the same if it was built in a village or small town, it would be desecrated inside of a day lol).

It's a theory ofc but it fits imho.

There is no need to redefine again and again what is at the roots of any civilization, especially art among other things. Provoking is easy, you can poop in public then call it provocative art, but how is that creating some aesthetic feeling or response, I'm not sure.

Being liberal and open minded is okay, but for some it looks like being  so much open minded let the brain fell off.

Sure, provoke away. But if you're gonna put it out there for all to see, why would you not put something of recognizable value? As a public piece of art, I take it that it is meant the public's appreciation instead of the artist's kicks. But obviously, any complaints about it should be directed at those who approved it, not the one who made it. If I were the artist, I'd still be grinning.

When I first saw that "tree" I thought it was a life size Google map check point and the idea was to emphasize we all live in the cyber world now as well as the real one. So the artist turned the street into a Google map. It still looks ugly in the middle of such a well preserved city square though, might have been different among modern "glass box" buildings.

Of course, I dont know if it was meant to stay there or if it was a temporary exhibit. If temporary, the povocative contrast can work just as well.

Any anal plug worth anything is going to have a cotton bunny tail on it.

I'm assuming that thing is temporary for the Christmas season.
