I could just say d'Annunzio and I win, although the poor guy wasn't actually a full blown fascist but was just similar ideologically.

The reactionary part of the educated society of the twenties saw fascism as a way to re-establish the old traditions of the past, that's why there were thinkers such as Julius Evola praising Mussolini for creating a new Rome. Also, the aforementioned d'Annunzio led his own personal legion to occupy Fiume and wanted an Italy more closely resembling the Roman Empire.

After all the famous slogan "Eia eia alala" was created by him, and there were few who were as sophisticated as him.

Funnily, I agree with Stevie though, I can't find a way to be seriously sophisticated today.

I meant it in a general sense, the higher ups don't seem the icons of elegance like back then and they don't seem to have that mannerism that their position entailed. Even the average person seemed to be more formal, and had a more proper form to their speech.

A common line of thought here is that using Sicilian is a way to emphasize the vulgarity of a concept, yet I don't recall my grandfather being vulgar when he spoke Sicilian, this stigma however prevented my parents from actually teaching me our language, which is sad. This is reflected when I speak with my friends, in that case I speak some kind of butchered Catanese-Ragusan-Neapolitan-Roman mix of a language, and we only do that to be vulgar and have fun with it.

While I'm happy we've elected a majority of sovranist parties it's not like their leaders are the icon of a politician, Salvini used to tour around with hoodies and being crass when it came to problems, Di Maio makes a lot of errors in his speech and did some inane things to garner the "youth" vote.

And really, we just need to look at Trump, it's undeniable that he has his moments of vulgarity, and his off the cuff personality leads him to some inappropriate episodes.

I used to talk in a more elegant way, and still today I try to compose some verses just for the fun of it, but I've grown to find poetry cringy and it's not like people reply in kind with that kind of language, all in all I'm a bit disillusioned about it.

By the way I can pull off a fashionable look when I want to, like a proper old timey Sicilian, I just need a thicker moustache and I'm set.

i myself used to be so much more eloquent in my writing. i was at my peak in the early 2000's.

now, i have to be in a certain frame of mind(or mood), to even bother caring. ever since the internet crossed over into real life and mass media, everything has gone right down the toilet. life everywhere just seems to be embarrassing as all get-out. as much as i'm entertained by the idiotic internet culture, i never wanted to see it become a part of the everyday culture EVERYWHERE, or anywhere irl at all.

what sickens me, is that i was watching beavis and butthead(because their critique of newer shows in the newer seasons were hilarious), and i found i could no longer watch it, because the shows on mtv that b n' b were critiquing(actually, what mike judge was critiquing) were so mind-numbingly RETARDED that i found my disgust overflowing again. i couldn't even enjoy their critique of it, because all i could think about was the people who created(and who starred in) shows like "16 and pregnant", "jersey shore", and whatever other drivel that has become mtv since i stopped watching it in the late 1990's; and trying to cope with their REASONING for heaping such idiocy on youth and culture at large.

it's despicable. i cannot snowing STAND snow like that, and it's RAMPANT now. people actually wonder why i think the people in power want everyone stupid so that we are easier to control, and i just have to look around and say, "are you snowing BLIND? how can you not SEE this snow?"

and that's not even mentioning the fast food/disposable culture that spread like a disease all over the globe, OR the flood of prescription "medicine" being forced down society's throat, causing unprecendented numbers of junkies that are permeating whole cities in the u.s.

wow, good that I thought to have some women and gay pics on my mentors wall, so artu the wiki man can reveal I am not a patriarch oppressor or homophobe, and who knows, maybe not a nazi neither. So, if my wall incidentally showed only "straight" men, which is what 98% of men are, I should have wondered about some worrying ideology shrouding my mind?

I can't believe you dig for such details while claiming you can "ridicule" whatever, because what is the most ridiculous ever is such attitude.

I liked the 2nd iteration of your reply more, Sal, the one where you said you don't care for such irrelevant details like being a woman or gay. Consider rewriting your post for the 4th time for added clarity? Because, you see, you need to explain very simple points to people on the internet as if they're 5 before you can confirm to yourself that the reason they apparently still don't get it is because they're either mentally impaired or just have too much time on their hands to waste on pointless back-and-forth arguments.

@Sal

First of all, I don’t “dig” anything, they are just there to see like the moon sitting in the sky. And you missed the point entirely like you do so many times these recent years. What I emphasized was that your overwhelming, frustrated reaction to the recent immigration situation in France + your admitted struggles with the sleeping disorder challenging your focus, devolved your rhetoric lately into a more primitive state than you actually are as a person. Your previous post is almost in a defensive position, in favor of the rise of facism, as if it is wrong to point out that anybody with minimum sophistication not to turn facist will not turn out so, especially in today’s world where even actual facists don’t take the word as a compliment. If the far-right rises more, it will be a reaction of the insecure masses, not some refined political progress through discourse of ideas. So, it will diminish again in the end. You act like you don’t want it to and reply as if the only alternative to facism is some utopian “singing kumbalaya together” notion. Such comparison is so retarded, that only the type of person who genuinely hates other races or gays or whoever would come up with it for the love of facism, and in your case, I don’t think it fits.

Oh, and it is quite ironic to call me the wiki guy when I almost certainly read 50 times more about facism and its historical rise and for the last 2 or 3 years, your back-up links to make points are mostly Youtube trolls.

@ Stevie
Yes, I like debating. People even encourage me to do so, since they say they can always learn new perspectives from me. If you ask me, it is much better than only showing around with angsty, envious, sinister jabs at anyone who is more capable than me (which in your case, is almost everyone) and then preaching the love of Jesus as an empty, lifeless slogan. You hate everyone better than you, it is your theme, your desperation. Meanwhile, we just bother to dislike you, when we have the time to do so. I guess, I had more free time than most ocassionally.

Nope man, is in your head that I defend fascists. All I say is that evil is easy and has infinite forms (Pascal). Maybe one day you will read Dostoevsky's "The house of the dead" and change your habit about superficially stereotyping people into "good guy is always good and bad guy is always bad". Until there, is you who talk about some woman and a Texan gay on my mentors wall - apparently you consider this a good point for me, you just don't realize how low you went by doing that.

I already read that, of course, around 17-18. (Edit: Notes from Underground I mean, if you are talking about the book of his times in Siberian exile, which here is translated as Memories from a Dead House, I started it out during the same time but never got around to finishing it.) And I was not even talking about good versus evil but rather in the post WW2 world how short-sighted and shallow you have to be to become an actual facist. Not talking about internet spam but reality. And you reply to that by saying Karajan was a Nazi. (And it was you who brought up tastes, not me, sophisticated in politics doesnt have to do much with art.) It is then me replying Karajan being a Nazi is not a black and white situation. So how you conclude I was seperating good and bad into absolute camps is beyond me. I dont know why you feel offended by me giving an example of you having the picture of a female pianist on your wall either, which was simply an example of the same gray areas since recently it was you who had passionately defended they are not good as men when it comes down to classical music. That was rather about composing but still, to be an exceptional performer, you have to get to the core of the composition, so...

And to repeat myself from a few years ago, it is you who thinks prejudice or discrimination is absolute, not me. Since you think it is absolute, you think everything about such issues are resolved in soceity or close to resolved and all objections are SJW madness, because when you seek the absolute, you find none.

speaking of sophistication, all i have to say is "mikes mikkelsen". when it comes to sophistication, he and anthony hopkins both have loads of it. incidentally, they both also portrayed hannibal lecter(a favorite character of mine in cinema and on t.v.), so maybe that has something to do with it.

I liked the book and the original movie, the second movie was not boring but I think they overdid his skills and turned him into some kind of super villian with extreme powers, as if he was a vampire or something. The TV show, I tried a few episodes and quit, seemed like milking the cash cow to me.

you really shouldn't sleep on the show(or mikes' portrayal, which is spot-on for an actual psychopath; the best portrayal i've ever seen on screen, period); the show is actually better than the movie "hannibal", by far. and FAR superior to "hannibal rising".

oh, lol, forgot to mention, if you didn't like his skills in "hannibal", then you shouldn't read the book, either. in the book, he's more like the devil himself(as a matter of fact, he's portrayed that way in all the books).

whereas in the show, he's just a highly intelligent psychopath. i recommend the show above all else, actually. silence of the lambs is a great movie, but i think mikes actually captured the character even better than anthony did. and anthony's one of my favorite all-time actors.

In the book he is extremely intelligent, he is always on alert but he doesnt do things like noticing a pocket picker from zillions of meters away by just glancing at him a few seconds or walking around enranged beasts without any of them touching him etc.
