Add-ons Equilibris vs Nimostar

Which is the goto add-on these days. Just coming back from a long layoff.

I noticed that equilibris stopped at 3.51 many years ago while Nimostar is still being updated this year.

Also what happens if both mods are installed at the same time? Are there any overlapping changes, i.e. balances, units etc.

Mymod doesn't interfer with Equilibris at all so both can be installed at the same time with no conflict.

Equilibris is a small balance patch.

My "Greatest Mod" is a big conversion that changes all towns, many spells and practically all creatures. It also adds a lot of buildings mostly from unreleased Equilibris 355.


They are different things, Equilibris 3.51 is a simple "replacement"/improvement for regular H4,

while Greatest Mod is a somewhat different experience (more abilities, spellcasters, more complex strategical battles, different factions, hero creatures, more hero skills etc.)


Spells for big Angel groups in Greatest Mod

Also, as you noticed, more versions of my mod are upcoming in the future. Equilibris team last update was meant to make the townscreens HD (still not released, not sure if progress).

Dont make war between mods! Enjoy you have new mod which is in Eq version too. We never thought it will be posible because HIV is very hard codded, extremly hard to change. Its great succes we know relative big. And new defs are now possible. The best is building mod on old mod to have combo result. But Eq team dont give tutorial how to change their works if I have another idea. Its hard to mod Eq. So mod on mod can be little difficult.

Okay just tried it out for 60 seconds or so haha! Theres prolly another thread for this, but I'll just throw my quick 2 cents out there anyway.

So the overall feel is decent, game wasn't slowed down or anything. I think if you spent maybe one patch just specifically on fine tuning some misc/cosmetics that would really add ALOT of shine to it.

The idea is to make it look more professional and with that I think you'll get even more fans.

1. Unit background colors - e.g. Medusa I can see is now in Death! So instead of her having the orange background color in the army tab, change it to grey like the other death units. This will make it seem alot more streamlined.

2. When I alt-tab the window title says v0.11, while at the main menu, it says 0.13, while I know the version is 0.16 so thats a little confusing.

3. I would consider having a more professional main menu background picture, especially the text font. The same goes for your sig, it was actually the first thing that really made me wonder if this was a mod worth trying or not in the first place. The saying goes don't judge a book by its cover, but unfortunately we all do because we all have limited time and we make quick on-the-run decisions

4. Definitely consider getting rid of all that clutter of unnecessary promotional stuff in the unzipped folder. One file with complete changes would suffice, along with maybe an incremental patch note. Also looking at one of the images for dark merc, I can already see theres a typo in the in-game text.

Great work though. Keep it up!!! Looking forward to your new releases in the future.

So well, thanks for the feedback.

In order...

1. Unit background colors:
This actually was meant to be foxed from version 1 but people didn't know how to do it back then. Now we know but it's still a very slow, time consuming process...

2. Confusing  version numbers:
I cut some corners here... because the version numbers are in different places, you have to change each one separately and with different programs. This is slow and cumbersome.
I think I will delete version numbers ingame completely.

3. What is wrong with text font? :V
The piture looks low res because of the program used to import it. There is nothing I can do for resolution.

As for my signature... this forum has a 10 KB max signature size. This is severely constraining. Believe me, I don't like it either.

4. I think people like visual shorthands and as such the images do the trick of showing what is in the mod. After all, they are separated in a separate subfolder anyways... so nobody sees them if they don't want to.

5. As for that "ingame typo", you mean "Dark Merc"? It is a shorthand for "Dark Mercenary". However, I coudn't do it the full lenght because of the impossibility to extend the strings. Nobody made a program to edit string file so I have to hex edit it by hand, and I am limited by the previously existing lenghts :/

Anyways, glad you overall liked it, minus the "Professional finish" details. Remember it is still a BETA version... next version will come with more changes such as updated music, and more balancing.

Even more in the future, the creature rings will be fixed.
