Why do I never win
Greetings for keeping this game alive, This message is a request for help: I've been playing Wog (ERA II) for months with a friend in hotseat in random maps and he keeps winning 99% of the times. I must be missing some details. What can I do?

get gud, dude. but seriously, there are many things you can read and learn from in hc's library of enlightenment. if it's any consolation, i'm not good either. i highly doubt i'd survive playing against anyone here.

See in WoG options too. Sometimes it can be impssible. Many scrips is to make game hardest.

if he wins 99% of times it means you are no match at all, so stop playing him, take single random medium maps vs 4-5 AI, 160% difficulty, and try to beat them all under one month. When you can do that, return play your friend and see if doing better.

I suggest you see how he plays too...
If you are playing with him, you might see how he does, what strategies he has and try to see where/when he's better.
If he's far better, it might be hard to see but try to analyse !
For example, at start when you make fights, some groups of 1 creature of low level are of use to take the counter attack form ennemy army slot. So you loose less army and so stand with stronger strenghs...
Strategy choices are important : make high economy or make army ? What shall I fight for ? Its some important questions (and answer depends on map, situation, ...)
As long as you just want to see result (win and loss) and not how to make better choices, you'll get a bad analysis to be better...
Anyways, have fun in playing ! That's the most important.

yeah even the regular campaign of the main game is not too easy if you have never played any such games =( so good though!

I wonder why no one gave you the most obvious advice: watch what the "pros" do.
I recommend Twitch but you can find interesting tutorials in YouTube, also.

Why don't you ask him what he's doing so he can teach you? You don't need to learn it yourself if there's the easy way.
