Heroes 2 Bitmap to Map Generator

Hi, here is a tiny program I made to convert bitmap pixels to terrain in the map editor (Automatic tile drawing)

Just make a 72 x 72 windows bitmap (In Paint for example) and use 9 different RGB color for each of the 9 terrain types.

Then run the program on the bitmap and then run the map editor and it will automatically fill in those tiles for you.

Each pixel represents 2x2 tile in the map editor, so it works "roughly", you have to fine tune the hard edges when it is complete. It's only meant to quickly paint the basis for a map.

Oh yes, it only works on 144 x 144 maps, because I only make large maps myself.

I wanted to make it paint one full screen at the time, but I wanted the tool for myself so I did it quickly and it paints one tile at the time horizontally, but it works and it's easy to draw the basics of a map. I could make it faster but I don't see the need for it.

The annoying thing about the map editor is that it doesn't allow for single tiles to be drawn so to implement that into this tool I would have to simulate "tricky" mouse movements to get the smallest tiles in place, maybe I will do that another time.

Hell I don't even know if a tool like this already exist AND if people still play Heroes 2, at least I do

I'm the "blacksmith" kind of guy, I make tools and don't mess around.

Great! Post it on Enroth forum:

It can be useful for converting HIII,IV maps to H2 format.
Random generated content on picture ground would be good, if someone can do it.
