Poll Question:
The prostitute

The world's oldest profession is prostitution. Today, some countries are allowed and banned. The price is the cheapest one dollar, and the most expensive is $40,000. But the problem is also human trafficking. Is the profession a future, when a sex robot is coming. Is prostitution benefiting everybody? What you know about prostitution, you can tell us.

No, I never paid for sex. Unless, it's fantasy role play, the idea is a turn off to me.

Sex is a nebulous thing because most of it is mental. The actual sex drive itself doesnt mean a whole lot (I mean hormones dont create the 100+ fetishes. That is all in the brain and specifically in higher cognition). Even eunuchs can theoretically develop fetishes.

Prostitution has already decreased in many places because of widespread casual pornography or pornography addiction, and digisexuals (people who prefer sex with robots) will increase as well as the technology develops, but there is always, always, always going to be a market for flesh and blood sex objects that make the experience feel authentic. Introverted people will shy away from it but not everybody will.

My viewpoint is there are two groups who fight to make it illegal.

One group wants to stop human exploitation, which I fully agree with.

The other group believes it's immoral, which I disagree with.

Sadly the result is typically the same, both view points leads to targeting the costumer, willingly to sacrifice the whole area of work to stop it from leading to exploitation.

The slightly ironic thing in my opinion is that there are probably various fields where people can be exploited, but you can't ban those because it'd victimize others, but in this field it's accepted.

It's not only a concern about this particular topic, if one looks at other "immoral" fields, you'll find that people who need help because of sickness or poverty are being made into criminals in stead of being helped.
I won't go into these topics though, as I think it'd only lead to the thread being closed, only wanting to point out the issues on this matter are not unique, but perhaps more a general reflection of double standards in our society.

After 40 yo, men pay a lot to have sex. All of them but they just don't realize they do so.

Nothing more to say about it

Of course I'd pay for sex if I had no way to enjoy it for free. What would be wrong with it? I mean, what about pedicure? It's also a service, and one that may be really disgusting, depending on the client. It's not something I'd like to do.
If it's illegal, it's kind of risky, though. Which is the problem, same thing as with drugs and gambling.

Ah, the vices.

Well, sure, I mean if I was extremely horny and there was this incredibly hot prostitute and I had extra cash to do nothing with, that would be the perfect storm and I guess, I'd give it a go. But it's not the perfect storm and unlike pedicure service, for me part of enjoying sex is to feel wanted, not just to have it. Knowing that part would be a facade, is a big turn off. (Of course, you can try to convince yourself that you're so awesome in bed, that even a sex worker who got fed up with it and who's erotically numb would be swiped off her feet by your moves. But I was never good at lying to myself )

it was only after i tried it, that i found it was a turn-off. if it's not completely consensual(meaning, not forced or unwanted in any way)), it's a turn off. if the other person(s) are not into it, neither am i.

i paid 50 euros while in germany(where it's legal in the red light district) for a sexy brazillian(the best-looking girl in the building), and i couldn't get into it at all. it felt like the girl was just doing a duty. maybe she was just bad at it, and didn't give the illusion like a decent one is supposed to(from what i hear). or maybe it had just been a long day for her; who knows.

as far as the morality of it; i don't see an issue with it, as long as it's the girl's(or guy's) choice(not forced by a pimp or human trafficker or something). it's pretty simple: a person needs money, and a person provides a service for that money. same as working at a fast-food joint, or as a janitor; and depending on the client, much less degrading. it can even be fun, if the person enjoys a lot of sex. if you think about it, it's not that different from a porn actress(or actor). the pay is certainly better in porno, of course. but even porn actresses get into prostitution; and they can get paid upwards of $11,000 for one hour(even after they're out of their prime, so to speak). or so the talk around the campfire goes.

me, i'll never do it again, because it didn't seem like it was truly a free-will thing, but more of a job. i don't really know, maybe i picked the wrong prostitute; another guy who came with me was really satisfied with his black girl, and she seemed totally into him.

There is a reason why prices differ greatly. Paying for sex is one thing, paying for an illusion quite another.
I mean, you wouldn't say, "Going out and buying a meal is such a turn-off, I'll rather starve than not making the food myself ever again", when you just bought a burger for 99 Cents. Or some TV dinner.

I plan on having state run brothels, reasonable restrictions on both clientele and service providers, cleanliness and decent social graces (off the top of my head).

Morality isn't even an issue lol. It merely has to be done properly. State has a bad stigma for 'lack of efficiency', but it's not an efficient profit geared service that I seek to establish.

Seriously though, only been in full-time employment having a full experience of how the average working class lives and works, I am astaunded that these people could find the time to meet women/men. Those doing night-shifts can consider themselves boned (no pun intended). There are sites n stuff to help with finding a 'match' n the like, but finding the time is a serious issue, not only that some of us just want to pork and really there's no shame in it (deceiving a woman just for sex is shameful though). Prostitutes could (and I suppose they already do) serve a key role in bringing some much needed relieve to many.

I can think of no sensible reason why prostitution is so shunned, seems like an ingrained pathological logic that kinda just stuck with us and we didn't bother to even think hard on it and left it at that.

Well, pre-industrial times with no (sex) education, birth control, protection from diseases, dna tests, it's easy to see why ANY sex out of wedlock was a big taboo in a patriarchal society. The part from Carlin's equation above, "it's free to snow" was not the case. It was adultery, a crime and a sin. A prostitute was someone who made money from such a taboo, so she was kind of like an assassin, professional of a forbidden act. Today, you also have the feminist angle but it's still mostly a continuation of such history.

You know in thailand a poor family will choose one boy from it many children and make him a transgender and a prostuite . Thus he can provide for whole family. I think prostetuition could be legal, if well enought regulated. Tax revenues could secure fiancial conflicts , and if you add insurance you will reduce std risk and human right violations.

Human rights violations occur because it is illegal though (by and large). With sufficient regulation and uplifting the practice from ill-repute will undermine the criminal aspects associated with the practice (human trafficking and the like, certainly won't eliminate it). Same with drugs tbh, yesterday's dealers are now today's respectable shop assistants/owners in the US of A all because of a simple legislation (change in mentality to reflect reality).
