Many questions and answers

I have created this topic for 3 things and 2 parts

1-) I think it is rude and annoying to create topic for every questions (i am talking about me, do not be offended)
2-)It could be better to find many answers in one topic. Specially if you are modder and want to find useful tips
3-) I have wasted many days while discovering files, so i want to help everyone who wants to make changes or for the create their own mods

Second part is if you think create your own mod just ask me. I will answer your questions (if i know the answer) and i will add it to this post. It becomes like a wikipedi slowly.

This is why i am creating this topic. I will try to make this post updated and i will put questions and answers in here. By the way i have start with my old topics. I know most of you already knew the answers but my objective is share all of my knowledge with people if they need. I want to thanks to everyone who already helped, tried to help or planning to help in any ways. Best regards

It is complicated topic and it requires reverse engineering. I have wasted 4 full months and i haven't found any of the offsets for the things i was looking for. Deflaktor already created topic and shared his knowledge with us and dredknight also created topic about hex edit Click for the topic and i will request for the offsets later.

12) Is it possible to change amount range of creeps?
Answered by me (thanks to the assistance of dredknight) (i forgot the topic lol)
Answer: data.pak folder > GameMechanics you will see RoughAmounts at the bottom.

And i am planning to specify hardcoded things for you. Because if you are planning to work with .pak files, you cannot change these things. Please correct me if i am wrong

That explains you are kind and respectful person in your life but people think you are rude because you have a problems with your english language. Your words seems rude but i believe you are not try to be a rude.

Don't take me the wrong way. I like your mod and we are playing it but it's obvious users of this forum loves 5.5 and don't care about other things. If you remember i was the one who created this topic but moderators was locked it. http://heroescommunity.com/viewthread.php3?TID=44841

I suggest you to give up but still it's helpful topic for new modders and don't expect answers.

Hey vulcancolak. I just found this thread of yours, and I will try to help you with some questions.

Regarding the changing the income of bag artifacts, you can modify that via scripts (scripts are very powerful tools for modding, that I like to use ). Here you can download my mod for modifying income of the bags:

Bag Income Modifier

It is a simple zip that you can rename to *.pak or *.h5u and place in UserMODs or data folder. Also, you can check the files and modify them There are 2 files there:

1) /scripts/modifyBags.lua

This is the script that I made. The lines that you are interested in are these two:

bagVals_modifyIncome(28,-999); -- 1000 gold bag
bagVals_modifyIncome(29,250); -- 250 gold

Here you can modify the income of this artifacts. First argument is artifatc id (28 - 1000 gold bag, 29 - 250 gold bag). The second argument is modifier. While testing, I've set that 1000 gold bag to give player only one gold (hence the -999 argument), and I've set 250 gold bag to give player 500 gold (hence the 250 argument). You can change those values according your preferences, you can even set the artifacts to take away gold The only drawback is that you will notice the gold amount update in-game: e.g. you will see 1000 gold added, and then 999 gold will be removed, but I don't see any workaround.

2) /scripts/common.lua

This actually overrides the standard script file that is loaded in all maps (it sets up some constants, etc). I've added one line near the end of the file (line 502) that says this:

doFile("/scripts/modifyBags.lua");

This will make every map load the modifyBags script, that will modify the value. If you want to use this script just for specific maps, just remove this file from the mod, and add the line above (with doFile) to your map script and it will work (you can also always copy the whole content of modifyBags.lua to your map script )

If you like this solution, I would be thankful if you could test this little mod. In next few days, I could try to add modifiers for estates and maybe even village hall, town hall, city hall and capital.

Oh, and I've tested this with latest Q's AI mod (3.1j), and I'm not sure if this would work with H5.5 withoud modification.

Now let me talk you about the all things (estates ability, gold mines incomes, town halls or capital) i had a problems with income in this game. First i was tried to make estates ability more useful but it seems it's hardcoded and i already wasted many months and i couldn't succeed to find hex values. My objective is making gold mines and estates ability to more useful OR i want to decrease gold income to capitals by half.

After i finish my job (i am on work atm) i will check your mod. Tonight i will read it completely and try to configure.

I realized that this version of mod may have issues if map uses it's own new day trigger, but I will provide a suitable workaround this evening, when I add leadership and town halls.

EDIT:

Ok, here is my new version.

Download

This will now let you modify income of estates, village,town, city hall, capitol, and artifacts. Currently, all income is negated

Lines that should be edited to adjust the values are these:

1000 gold bag - change second argument (currently is -1000, so no income)
bagVals_modifyIncome(28,-1000);
250 gold bag - change second argument (currently is -250, so no income)
bagVals_modifyIncome(29,-250);
Estates - (currently is -250, so no income)
bagVals_modifyEstates(-250);
Halls - first argument is for village hall, second is for town hall, third is for city hall, and fourth is for capitol. Currently, there is no income.
bagVals_modifyTownIncome(-500,-1000,-2000,-4000);

If you want to modify only some of these thigs, just comment out the function calls (along with sleep after the call) to have better performance.

Also, as this script uses NEW_DAY_TRIGGER, if you set it in your custom maps, you will override these modifications. So, as a workaround, you can just put this line in your script:

NewDayTrigger = yourFunction;

and your function will be called as intended. This is an ugly workaraound, but it seems that this lua engine that H5 uses has some missing features, so I was unable to create better one. However, I will probably keep trying in next few days. I will also try to modify the script, so there are no sleep function calls, but at this point I'm too tired.

I would be grateful if you guys could test this and report the bugs that you find (as there will probably be some bugs ). I hope that this helps.

Yes thank you for your work. But there is a little problem in here. Is there a way to integrate this to my mod? You were told me the "rename it as .h5u and put it usermods" when i do this, it will affect the all maps? If the answer is yes, it solves my problem and i will give credit to you and put your mod to my "recommended mods for new order mod" list.

This mod will affect all the maps with script in it (even if the script file is empty). In hotseat and multiplayer, scripts are disabled, so you need to activate them. The easiest way is to use reanimation patcher from this thread. H5.5 uses it as well, and you can find more about adding scripts here.

If you find any problems, tell me, and we will make it work

EDIT:

I've updated latest script, so that you can add new day trigger with Trigger function (like you would do regulary), instead of doing the procedure I described above. Updated mod is here.

Hm, I haven't received any messages. As for adding to your pak file, just copy the contents of the arcive to the pak file and that's it. SO, in your file you should have scriptscommon.lua and scriptsmodifyBags.lua. However, if you have already modified common.lua in your mod, do not use my common.lua file, just add

doFile("/scripts/modifyBags.lua");

to common.lua before the last line  (function close_file(fileName) end).
