Is it authentic?

In this thread, we will share performances of any kind, the question is, are they authentic or fake, is there a trick in them?

Illusion acts that are already not claimg authenticity are not fit. (Nobody really flies or waves a hand from a box while they are cut in two with a saw, the trick is an openly declared one, we are not expected to believe such things are actually happening.)

So, video 1: Does the cat really track the ball or is she pulling a trick: Link

Cats are genetically evolved to track small thingies moving quickly.  I'd put money on cats actually being better than humans at it.

Also the cup with the bell in it is going to make an ungodly racket for a cat's ears. Authentic.

Cat has probably been trained with food before.

Also, it's likely that the ball actually makes noise as it's moving about, something we can't hear with our ears, but the cat can.

Well the ball is easy to follow, but I once saw a video of an elephant counting where you could clearly see the instructor turning around the moment the elephant hit the right number and the elephant stopped.

Therefore I didn't find it possible to determine if it is a trick or not without being able to see the lady.

You assume that cat understands he is asked to find the object, which I don't believe, I had tons of cats and they are stupid as hell (yet I love them ). I think there was some mimetic training before, maybe one of the cups has some sign on the other side as they are never rotated, or one of the cups was used to feed him for a long time so he recognizes it and so on. I mean, I put my cats outside and leave the door slightly semi-open, all they have is push it to get inside, yet they will remain there for hours yelling for me to come and do it.

I think the loud sound from metal makes it easy for the cat to follow the one containing the ball. However at least the cat is involved and not just leaving in the middle of the trick and showing her the finger lol. Maybe they had several takes for that.

Yes, that's what any cat owner thinks of first, cats arent trainable like that. (Although mine could open half-shut doors easily.) But then, they are hardwired to hunt down little things that move fast and hide in holes, so maybe it's that, the cat's following the ball like they do with laser pointers. Here's another one from a different angle, seems like she wants to play with the ball: Link

I think there is a trick, now you can clearly see that cat isn't following the specific cup.

Actually one of the comments is giving the key, imo:

"They can still hear the marble rolling once you stop rotating the cup"

So they don't hear the ball moving in the process, but only the ball moving once cups movement stops. Do it on a carpet and they will be screwed. So is not about being smart.

That snow dive was so much deeper than I expected.

@Sal

But some of the comments also say they saw versions done with paper, no sound. I think it's more of a visual skill they got, notice how, in the second video, the guy waits for the cat to turn around and see the ball put in the cup first.

Solving 3 Rubiks at once while juggling them.

Those who think cats are smart have probably never owned one ^^

That said opening doors is easy for them. My sister's cat climbs on the handle to open the door and understood so by its own. Mine cannot do that but will keep making noise persistently until someone opens the door. Will also divert my attention to the kitchen or restroom faucet and make urgent mewing noises for me to turn on the water. Prefers drinking fresh water

Probably authentic. People can do some ridiculous things if they work with a rubic's cube for a while.

Well, it's not that he can do both, but both so instantaneously. Juggling requires concentration, Rubik's Cube x 3 requires concentration. How one can com-part-mentalize like that in a matter of seconds is just incredible. I mean, to sharpen both skills, on such a level you would not need the time to focus, that part seems like it would take decades. Even if the scrambled cubes are not actually in a randomly scrambled state but had been pre-arranged to be solved quickly.
