nuclear war scare?

according to this article, russia is telling it's residents to stock up on food and water, and to prepare for a possible nuclear war with the u.s.

for our russian members, is this true, or just u.s. propaganda?

the short article in it's entirety:

Quote:
Russian state-owned television is urging the country’s residents to stock their bunkers with water and basic foodstuffs because Moscow could go to war with Washington.

Warning that the potential conflict between the two superpowers would be “catastrophic,” an anchor for Russia’s Vesti 24 showed off shelves of food, recommending that people buy salt, oatmeal and other products that can last a long time on the shelves. Powdered milk lasts five years while sugar and rice can last up to eight years, the newscaster explained before showing videos of pasta cooking in a bomb shelter.

The channel's newscasters also displayed charts explaining how much water people need to store for drinking, washing their face and hands, and preparing food every day—and how that amount changes depending on the temperature of a person’s bomb shelter. The program also recommended that people stock up on gas masks and read guides on how to survive nuclear war.

Russian President and presidential candidate Vladimir Putin enters a hall to meet with other candidates in the poll, a day after the presidential election, at the Kremlin in Moscow on March 19, 2018.: Vladimir Putin. © Yuri Kadobnov/AFP/Getty Images Vladimir Putin. The program aired just one day after sources told Newsweek that “there is a major war scare” in Moscow, as President Donald Trump prepares to strike Syria in retaliation for the use of chemical weapons against civilians over the weekend. The Trump administration has said it believes Syria’s Russian-backed President Bashar al-Assad was responsible for the attacks, and it plans to ensure that Assad pays the price. Russian military forces have responded by saying that Moscow would meet fire with fire and said that it will shoot down any U.S. missiles.

"If there is a strike by the Americans, then the missiles will be downed and even the sources from which the missiles were fired,” warned Alexander Zasypkin, Russia’s ambassador to Lebanon, during an interview on Tuesday with a television station linked to Hezbollah.

The increasingly bellicose rhetoric has sparked fears that a conflict could break out between two nuclear-armed superpowers. On Wednesday morning, Trump took to Twitter to issue a stark warning to Russia, which he accused of partnering with “a Gas Killing Animal who kills his people and enjoys it!”

But he later walked back the statement, calling for an end to the arms race with Russia.

if this is not a joke, and the threat is indeed real(which would be incredibly foolish if we were actually going to nuclear war because of our retarded meme of a president), then i would like the time to prepare my own family.

this said, i realize they would probably just oust trump, and for real, this time; than have our nations go to war and end up losing so many lives so needlessly.

Nope, same screeching that was present a couple of months ago with the RocketMan.
4D chess and all that stuff.

What's the point of going nuclear over some failed state?

Last time the gas attack was proven to be a hoax and a deliberate false flag attack, why should it be different this time?

4d chess at the expense of national fear of a very real threat, is more than a little irresponsible.

i would be particularly outraged, and i have the strong feeling i wouldn't be alone in that. it would be pretty incendiary(no pun intended).

If it is a false flag operation then going to war is even more likely. It is clear that tensions are growing and now is the time to DE-ESCALATE the situation! For heavens sake this is getting stupider and stupider.

Also I'd be careful about believing in Kips conspiracy rants taken straight from Infowars, just like the survivors of latest mass shooting were "actors". Blaming the victims of a tragedy is really a new low.

The rethoric is the same.
first it's all fire and fury, and later, it's a sit down and a more calmer comment.

Follow the Trumpster's tweets on that.

First he's all fire and fury, than an hour later this comes:

Our relationship with Russia is worse now than it has ever been, and that includes the Cold War. There is no reason for this. Russia needs us to help with their economy, something that would be very easy to do, and we need all nations to work together. Stop the arms race?

and later:
Much of the bad blood with Russia is caused by the Fake & Corrupt Russia Investigation, headed up by the all Democrat loyalists, or people that worked for Obama. Mueller is most conflicted of all (except Rosenstein who signed FISA & Comey letter). No Collusion, so they go crazy!

And ofc, the fake news outlets go completely apecrap over the whole "weesa pypo gonna dye from nukez!" type of panic attack. So bad At Putlerstan I've heard, that the people there even began buying canned cat and dog food after the supermarkets ran out of canned meat meant for human consumption.

I've said one thing over and over again, Tsar Putin isn't that stupid to go full Nuclear. Neither is 'Ol Orange Donnie. He may be a hothead, yes, but not that of a stupid.

Nuclear War might be over-exaggerating, but some kind of war is imminent. It keeps things "rolling" for countries that put so much money into warfare...

the reason we don't go to war, is because the nukes are a deterrent. if two nations with nukes actually GO to war, it'll be with nukes. the nukes are supposed to be there to actually prevent war, and they've done their job for decades.

Seems the Trumpster is backing off.

Also, the article is true, mainly for the fact that ivans are buying long lasting food like there's no tommorow.
The possibility of going nuclear is bonkers. Everbody knows that it would mean a loss to all.

I have a feeling some of Putler's generals may have some extra Polonium in their tea next time. Or they will be offed quietly, and shipped to some god forsaken place like Vladivostok.

Doesn't stop them from conflicts like Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Syria... and the list goes on... tell it to the people in those countries that "nukes are keeping them in check".

well, we were "helping" afghanistan, supposedly(). i don't know if libia has nukes(i'm doubtful). as for iraq and syria, neither one had nukes, that i'm aware of. which was my point. nukes can't be an actual deterrent, if they're not present on both sides.

True, but it's our regular TV weirdness.
Also, Vesti24 is famous for..that sort of things, e.g. that notorious speech about "to nuclear ashes" - it's highly, highly conservative and jingoistic newscast.

No one really cares, because it's evident that it is spoken mostly for external, not internal purposes.
(Most of the bunkers are sold years ago whatever)

..month ago, at International Women Day, at my work there was a "Miss Conscript" contest that included shooting, gas attack evading and testing of first aid skills. _That_ was creepy, not the common TV bullsnow.

Yeah I know what your point was. I'm just saying that lack of "world war" or nuclear war doesn't stop the world from being in turmoil. Speaking of nations with "nukes", there are other ways to do this:

russian propaganda trolling outsiders with a nuke threat? wow. are russians subject to the same fears, via american media propaganda? were you guys ever alarmed by something in our media(besides a guy like trump being in charge of snow over here, of course())?

thanks for clarifying, btw.

if that post is real, anyway. could just be troll propaganda. though, for some reason, i doubt it.

No, that's nonsense.
IN FACT, the US invented the "policy of deterrence", simply because the USSR had so much conventional forces in Europe, the NATO couldn't hope to stop them conventionally. That's why the US upped the ante, telling the USSR, ok, guys, IF you EVER go to war AGAINST A NATO COUNTRY, we will do EVERYthing to stop you, including using tactical nuclear warheads and even firing nuclear long range weapons if necessary. Test was Cuba, when the USSR brought missiles, and the US threatened with nuclear war. The USSR backed down, because the potential gain wasn't worth the potential loss.

Both the US and the USSR/Russia have been part of a lot of wars since then, without any danger of nuclear weapons being fired, and that includes the Near East.

The stuff at the moment is sabre-rattling.

no, THAT'S nonsense. i don't think all the nations who had nukes would be so stupid to nuke each other, irregardless of the u.s. or russia's involvement in any dispute. to think so, makes me wonder if you need sleep, too.

Alice is saying someone rude about Eva to a Bob, knowing that Eva is hearing. Nothing new, just boooring.

Also, I'm still using a salt and keeping a poured milk that was bought at 90s, so I don't think that someone here should be taught what to do, if something wrong will happen.

sometimes. That British film about hypotetical Russian intervention into Latvia caused sort of a ****storm even on TV.
And "reposts" of Ukrainian TV (with comments, full of sarcasm) were popular some years ago, iirc. Don't care much about offical propaganda, though.

And, of course, in Internet newsfeeds and, especially, social medias something like this takes place constantly — there is an, e.g., inosmi.ru, newsportal that translates foreign medias into Russian, so you can find some local scandal "what do they say!?" when you want.

cool. thanks for the info.

as for myself, i'm minimally prepared for heinous things to go down. i was big on it when i got out of the military, but i've slacked off since then. i'm more mentally prepared, than i am physically. but because i'm mentally prepared to function in the event of catastrophe, i think i'm leagues ahead of most americans in terms of preparedness.

a couple other family members are much more physically prepared than i am, though.

with the fallout, though, we would all likely be screwed. millions would die just because of that, easy. and the worldwide effects would certainly kill billions.
