damn, that blows. i always enjoyed his cameos as well.

but i wonder... will they cgi him in the marvel movies now? imo, it only makes sense to, regarding how the movies are done, and especially with the infinity wars theme(GODDDAMN YOU THANOS, WHY'D IT HAVE TO BE STAN LEE! ).

it'll definitely feel lacking to cgi him considering the news, no matter what. GODDAMNIT WHY DID THEY HAVE TO TELL US HE WAS DEAD! IT'S CALLED A SPOILER ALERT, YOU JERKS!

Well, a CGI cameo kind of defeats the purpose, doesnt it? It’s like, the gesture is the person being there. But I heard that since Lee was 95, they already shot some of his future cameos just in case, dont know if that’s true or just a rumor.

R.I.P., the universe he created was a significant part of my childhood and bringing the anti-hero to the world of comics was a genius idea.

I personally don't mind much if they used CGI, even if a far silhouette, as in memoriam. That might be the most non-invasive tribute I can think of.

it would be a fitting tribute to cgi such an icon of marvel in marvel-made cgi films. it's entirely logical, and i think, something he would have wanted regardless. whatever a man passionately does in life, he most likely would have wanted to continue. even if it was just for the money(which i don't think it was), that money could go towards his family by copyright. there's really no downside to the idea, that i can see. if comic book characters can live on or be resurrected, then why not the people responsible for creating them, by proxy?

I also read they recorded a few shots with him for future cameos. Apparently Stan didn't like to fly via a plane very much so they used each occasion to film him as much as possible. Besides, guy was 95, at this age you probably expect the worse...

The sad thing is, even with the use of CGI (like they for instance used in Fast & Furious), we won't hear his characteristic voice anymore

@ blob:  if they recorded scenes with him, they likely recorded audio, as well. and if audio can be mimicked(which it can), then it's likely they can make him say whatever they want. just like they did with carrie fisher and peter cushing.

If they do CGI Stan Lee they might as well make him look like how he did in the 1960s.

But I wouldn't personally be a fan of it. The technology is good enough that you can simulate his appearance and voice, but it loses its humor knowing it's not actually the old cook on set doing a cameo.

I let him outta the brig not long ago. He had to take a shower, apply some bandages, and comb over what's left of his hair. To look presentable again, as it were.
