Indeed, that's why fascism inherits the socialist model of the state, every citizen is a cog of the state, or as good ol' Benny would put it, every man is a bayonet.

It would seem strange that the countries with the highest levels of regionalisms (Italy, Germany and Spain) eventually turned to fascism, but the old dictators were first and foremost great horators like it or not, and managed to emphasize the bigger picture of the commonalities rather than the differences.

All in all, considering the highly reactionary nature of fascism, don't they seem like a dialectic antithesis?

The reaction is to other European forces such as U.K. and France which had already established unification (although with very different models and history) and went imperial by doing so. Rather than an anti-thesis, it’s their “I want a piece of the cake, too” move.

I'd say though that the initial reaction wasn't to the established western powers, but rather to the eastern threat of communism, each dictator got into power through an explicit anti-communist platform, but among the big three, only Hitler added a anti-Entente component in the form of revising Versailles (which would fit only in Germany), Mussolini even wanted the Allies' aegis against Germany at the beginning until they denied him the expansion of the empire, and Franco was doing his own thing in Spain.

They were first and foremost counter-revolutionaries, then they attempted to establish new orders.

Ok, fair point. But at the core, both facism and communism are very radical attempts at changing the status quo. The countries who had the social reactionism to give such feedback, had that feedback because they were less powerful and had less wealth than those which already established unification through less radical models.

Well, yes, if we then consider the extended phenomenon of reactionary politics by adding also the reformed autocratic monarchies it was a pretty common thing in Europe at the time, I remember an old chart in a history book that had most of Europe in black (fascist/autocratic), while only a few countries maintained a democratic regime, and then of course, there was the Soviet Union in the east.

Yeah, Versailles (and all the other treaties) did a poor job at keeping peace.

Lol, I have that book (assuming it is the same one), it’s Civilization in the West by Kishlansky, Geary and O’Brien. The map you talk about is probably this one:

While it's not that book that's a very similar map to the one I'm referring to, mine is from before the war, also my map has more humble origins, being from just an high school history book.

OK, now who are we going to root for? For those who stole Fiume from us or for those who stole the Gioconda? I believe d'Annunzio would have tore two more ribs before this choice.

He's awesome, but Sir Christopher Lee, another fine Ch, now sadly no longer with us, is the true king. Scion of the great Charlemagne.

Rhapsody of Fire duets and his solo albums were awesome, imagine more metal with Lee's epic baritone. Bleeping awesome.

IDK. Swamp is a marijuana, but no swampweed. I use my slang wordbook, and then from internet The A-Z Encyclopedia of Alcohol and Drug Abuse, The New Partridge Dictionary of Slang and Unconventional English, erowid.org etc I check and compare with other vocabulary. What is right, I move to notepad. Smaller work than SW. Remember that drug is always more vocabulary than alcohol.
