I can't lie: waiting for some good news regarding the sequel. Russians have some good record of keeping the "Heroes" genre going. King's Bounty aside, Horn of the Abyss is another example of how they kept the genre alive (even if it's unofficial). There is a strong nostalgia factor in  Middle-Eastern and Eastern countries regarding the series in TBS games in general, I'm getting the feeling we are one of the last bastions of the genre. I'm not lessening the input of other European countries (for instance France or Germany based companies also produce TBS games). I'm just saying it's nice that there's still such a strong demand for this types of games, it gives a bit of hope for the future.

It is a shame that we don't have votes here, because your comment deserves a lot of upvotes. I strongly agree with everything you said, I'd just like to add that I don't like mods, but Horn of the Abyss is a totally different beast; the feeling I get playing it is not that I am using some unnoficial content to improve my experience, but rather as if 3DO recovered from bakruptcy, reopened the New World Computing division and decided to revesit and polish their masterpiece.

That may be, but no amount of them Polaks will ever be a match for a solid Anglo-Saxon.

Well yeah, I believe we have one of the more active Tournament scenes, and some modders are also present. But my point wasn't to suggest who's the most active out there. I only noted that I believe Russians have made some great input also.

PS: Speaking of Poles, with seemingly more and more successful RTS and such games my countryman produce, maybe there's a chance we'll also see a nice high budget TBS game. Nostalgia is still strong here. There is this game Thea the Awakening, but it's not my cup of tea... on the other hand a Slavic mythology TBS game would be something I would like to see

Well, I do believe Russians are at the forefront of TBS production. After all, chess is in their cultural DNA. In fact Nival used a "chess" approach to produce H5, though it also led to some blunders such as them wanting an underszed 8x8 board, and the square tiles I don't like, since "its the same as chess" :V

King's bounty has hexagonal tiles, but I don't play campaigns (rather read a book for a fixed story progression) so it doesn't have that much allure for me.
