Heroes/Skills Imbalance?

In original HOMM3, what was the "logic" in allowing some races to learn some skills but not others?

For instance, I can certainly understand non-death heroes being prevented from learning Necromancy, but wasn't it a little unfair to allow Necromancers to learn Diplomacy? I mean, geez!

NOTE: I'm aware that heroes can learn banned skills from a "wandering scholar" or whatever those monk-looking map icons are called. I'm mainly referring to default skill trees and the magic schools, where forbidden skills are disabled.

Necromancers and Death Knights can't learn Leadership. This hampers their use of non-Undead in their armies. Not that they need it, given their ways of raising more Undead than the creature growth in their towns.

Yeah, to heroes 3 development, the oppossite of Necromancy wasn't Diplomacy (which was a reasonable choice given they both make your armies larger) but... leadership, a completely unrelated skill (just because it was the "Haven" skill)

Necro creatures are unaffected by morale anyways so this was really doing them a favor actually, otherwise they could waste a skill.

Necromancy is really strong in HOMM3 Complete in the hands of a player who knows what they're doing... for the computer? Probably, but I don't play on such high difficulties to know. I play on 130% and usually have become strong enough to counter the Necropolis computer before it can become dangerous.

In HoTA there seems to have been some rebalancing on some of the towns and Necropolis are less "bugged", one of their heroes is replaced with one that has a specialty for Ballista.

So I can't say I've ever felt any imbalance between the heroes, even in HOMM3 Complete.

For the computer -- exactly.

I'm assuming that in an online game, with an average two to three week gameplay, there would scarcely be enough time for a player to max out Diplomacy and Necromancy -- especially at the expense of learning more offensive skills.

I was prepared to read about some other kind of imbalance, the kind where certain skills are just useless while others are doing overwork, with some being must-have skills.

I haven't been found imbalance. A long time, for Heroes researches. I found the answers when playing Heroes to find a pattern. The best is MP, guys with. Maybe we play differently. There was no obsession with Earth, etc and we created own rule. And then my bro played with all the best skills. He thought a badly Eagle Eye (but not Corribus' map). No else! The best? He took a high class skills, because of his maps. And then I played too much in RoE, where are Fear spell by AI. (you get a Fear, if you played with Eagle Eye, First Aid, etc), because RoE isn't AB, where player started to learn Earth, the best skills, etc but I analyzed the best skills, for legion monster, example of All for One (RoE of map), AI grew over 4k Archdevils in 2 months. In SoD I played a freely skills. Because of normal growth monsters than RoE. And then I developed to AI skills, when I played legion against. AI should be very powerful against the best skills. It worked well. So the last 10 years ago, I know in there isn't imbalance. You must to play H4, you can learn about freely skills without obsession with Earth. It's another way to learn Heroes 3.

Necropolis uses Diplomacy. And then Inferno must to get a Diplomacy, for Demon farming.
