Childhood Monsters

Every child has something they are afaid of.. a monster that lives in the toilet or suchlike.  I'd just like to know from you all.. what was your 'monster' when you were little?

For me, I have to say it was unusual.. I believed there was an astronaut in the hallway, out to get me.  To this day I have no idea why!  So, let me know.. (was yours Ruud Gullit, Stiven? )

This could get reasonably amusing..

should I tell her, hmmm...

Here goes...

When I was small/little/tiny/puny/child/boy/girl/kid (take tour pick) my father used to intimdat..., (what's that english word), ...scare me by telling me if I din't go to sleep 'Horn Per' (that's swedish and translates to something like 'weird creature with horns called Per) would come and get me...

...in my imagination I pictured him somthing like a flying moose (elch, or whatever...) thing with big horns (do you say horns?) and big scary teeth.

...and so far I tell ya, it's still the biggest fear in my life...

There was also a movie that was called PET CEMETERY, then there was a death dog... that was on a chair! With clothes of a female! That was scary! When my dog died.... I had dreams of him sitting in my room....

I was also convinced Margaret Thatcher (the prime minister) was coming to bomb us.  I used to lie in bed and hear planes and wait till they passed overhead...

How sad is that??

I was never scared of the regular things as a kid, my sister had a pink toy ride on horse about 2 feet high and in my dreams, I'd be watching my sisters room, then it would come out fron underneath her bed with all its henchmen and attack me. Was pretty stupid, but there you go. It regularly scared the sh1t out of me.

I had fear of 2 things.

The many evil monsters hidden under my bed which would certainly feed themshelves with my feet or my head. That’s why I had a really large blanket & sometimes slept with my wood sword near my bed.

The man who was going upstairs every night to kill me. I heard his footstep on the stairs and I was very frightenned because he walked for a long time but never arrived in my room. What was he doing ? I tryed to guess & had nightmares... kill all my familly... when will he come for me ?

I finally understood a long time after that the sounds I heard was my heart beating, I had palpitations because of the dark.

The most terrifying thing was I just imagined my evil monsters. I couldn’t put a face on them. They had no faces.

Now I’m a strong guy and can’t close my eyes & sleep if there is some light in my room.

sorry kitten, but no childhood monsters for this Elf... monsters have always been in my good books ...i do remember however that I was afraid of the dark (how is that for irony?) for a year or so (around 5 or 6)...

oh and btw, Wolves are the best creatures out there

EDIT: just remembered that... I am scared of monsters... 4 of them each, scarier than all the horsemen of apocalypse together... with their infernal shapes and faces, they are the most scary thing i can picture... of course i'm talking about the Tel-Teletub... nah, can't say it infront of young innocent children...

Big and small cats..

I hate dogs..

Do you know how I fought my worst nightmares?

When I became somehow evil myself, I learned to fear them.. but more to worship them! Gheh that's a way ofcourse!

My Childhood Monsters

<Every child has something they are afaid of.. a monster that lives in the toilet or suchlike. I'd just like to know from you all.. what was your 'monster' when you were little?>
----------------------------

Heh, as a Bulgarian (Slav) they scared me with Baba Yaga - a Slavic mythological evil witch; she is very old and ugly, lives in the wood in a hen-legged house, and catches small children to cook and eat them.
There was even a tiny Baba Yaga's maket-house in our kindergarten's backyard. Children were all affraid to get inside and always rounded it from far away.

Another, more recent "scarecrow" is Torbalan - an old and very frightening Gipsy man with a huge sack; he kidnaps children and puts them in his dirty sack to suffocate them.
You can scare a child even by telling him/her: "Shhh, the Gipsy woman will come and get you!" This always works. Gipsies are black, ugly and very frightening to children.

<I'm not really afraid of anything, but I hate the dark.>

The same with me. I have never had a certain monster to be affraid of, but I feared the darkness itself.
At bed-time I used to turn off the light, ran panically to my bed and covered myself tightly with the blanket, so evil forces can not touch me.
Even today - I am a grown 22 y/o man and still feel uncomfortable when entering a dark room. Soemtimes I need to go to the WC in the night, while sleeping, but prefer to hold myself in, than going out of bed in the dark.
Pathetic I suppose (

hehe me made the mistake too watch one of the parts of the "friday 13th" while being alittle to young. That resulted in that i couldnt sleep well for about 2 months and had my lights on at night for more than 4 months

I saw that Jason guy everywhere but only between 1AM and 2AM every night, after that it was OK. I still dunno why tho.

OffCourse i didnt mention this at school at the time because me and my friend who watched it were conciderd really kewl for watching an horror movie at the age of 8-9...And a few years later when ive spoke to him about this he said that he had sleeping problems too but didnt want to mention it because he thought he would look like a sissy since i seemed to "handle" it so well

And i actually saw another part of those "friday 13th" movies just a few weeks ago now, but this time it struck me more that the movie was really bad than the "horror" in it...

Why you do this to me, Deemy? - The Devil doing an impression of a priest's mom.

My parents took me to see The Exorcist when i was 5 years old.  The movie petrified me, and I didn't see the whole thing until I was 12.  In those 7 years, I was scared of all things dealing with demonic possession.  Well except the Omen series, those movies were just cool

Besides the big carrot man ( he was made of big carrots!!!!) that used to cahse me around in my dreams ( i either threw all the carrots over the fence, or ate them all to my parents dismay)

there was something under my bed just waiting for me to go past, so jumping from the hall onto my bed was a regular feat.
also later when i started watching aliens movies, i always used 2 think there was a alien sitting on the edge of my bed ( i felt the bed moving)
it was soo scary, sometimes i would jump up and shout "go away i hate you"
then i would cower under my blankets again
now i cant sleep if theres any light on near me

Believe it or not I grew up living in a cemetary.  My dad was in charge of it and was the acting supervisor.  Because of that we had to live in the house built in the cemetary.
All my time living there I was never really afraid of anything in particuler.  I only remember two things, the first was an elderly woman dressed in faded purple clothing, a wooden cane, and a amall pink hat.  I used to imagine her calling me over and I was afraid that if I didn't come she would come after me.  I also remember seeing her dressed in black as well.  My mom told me that I used to scream or yell in the middle of the night "the lady is back, go away".  She said I used to see the same thing when I was younger too.
The second was another sight.  It was a little boy about 7 years old who looked blue from the cold.  He just used to stand there in my room giving me a sad look.  I was scared to death of these two things because I was never quite sure if I was really seeing them or not and was afraid that if they were real they would get me or somthing.
