i was just wondering if u have some Kind of documention About the map Editor, i would like to create an interesting map myself. I dont even want to do any Fancy stuff like cutscenes or anything amazing, just Basic stuff. Im Talking About quests, Events and related triggers mainly, i know some triggers and some conditions dont work. So some Kind of documention what doesnt work should be helpful. if u dont have one i might do one myself, currently i take a Little break from modding but i would like to continue on my H7Improved Mod but i Need a Change, i think creating a map would be fun.

These are useful yes (: i alrdy know of These but i mean a documention About Editor Bugs, some triggers and likewise are not working, i think it would be useful for map makers

No I dont have such a "log" of bugged stuff as it would require a big big book to note all those bugs down

But we can create one together, just note all the bugged stuff here and I will add mine.

PS: by "here" I mean here in HC (there was some editor topic I think) not in this topic to not going offtopic too much

Well the project is complete. We have 3 maps but with all the problems starting with Covid and ending with members of our team leaving slowed the whole thing almost to zero

So I hope for at least releasing those maps with the whole mod and let the community have their hands on it.

But to be honest, the bigest problem was and still is the bugged H7 editor.

Looks great, but when I select Xel as a starting town in either single player or hotseat, I'm getting a normal random town.

I haven't checked if other features are working, but at least Xel is selectable and town information can be found in Heropedia.

This depends on the setting of the map. Not sure what is causing it but on some maps even if you select Xel you still get a random town. But on another you get the Xel town and also a hero of your choice.

But well... its Ubisoft

Ill try to find the logic (if there is any) behind this.

UPDATE: OK, I have found the problem! Choose only skirmish maps, not scenarios. All the scenarios maps have "hard-coded" starting towns and you cannot play as Xel (you can see the option but the map has already placed towns).

So any map that has "random" in the town selection menu will do )

Tested on some skirmish maps and all were OK, I could choose Xel + one of the 4 new heroes as well.

PS: I will note this down on the mod page to not confuse players. Thx for pointing this out!

I tried also skirmish maps, and there appears to be a bit more to the problem. You have to choose a skirmish map, Xel town AND a Xel hero. If the hero is set to random, the game will revert to a random original town.

This way Xel works also in random maps.

But great work, definitely a good reason to get back to the game

Oh my, so many conditions for a mod to work But well at least it works

I made a quick setup guide and also added this information to the project page so everyone can play the Xel town

I think he then exported those "army" files externally somehow. Wait for lordgraa's more clear answer I guess.

Hello and thanks!

If you managed to create your own unit which works on a map, then exporting it to a MOD is just a few clicks away

You will have to copy all the files your unit is using into a "package" a save it as UPK file (not umap). Like "MySuperUnit.upk".

Dont forget to "relink" all links that may still be pointing to the original map (the little green arrows).

Yes, you will have to relink all if you want your own MOD.

Otherwise those will work only on the specific map.

And if you want the units/buildings also in the original game for everyone, then it will require also some changes in the H7Config.upk file - same as I did with my MOD (new units, heroes, spells).
