I only saw this thread today...
Better starting army is probably Cassiopeia, Oceanids are only slightly less good then Sprites and when you can have close to one hundred of them day 1 they can be messy. Now, Galthran doesn't start that good, cause skeletons are a meh creature but since they are the only level 1 creature that remains significant till the end of the game, he is most probably the best of all creature specialist in the game.

Nope, Galthran is much better. He guarantees that day1 you have at least 150 skeletons which can easily 1 shot most of the stacks you encounter by that time. What is more he is much more effective at clearing creature banks except pickets.
Not to mention all he needs is Animate Dead and he can stomp basically anything on his way. His starting army is in perfect synergy with rest of the town features.
