Combo artifacts (including HotA artifacts)

In this topic I'd like to discuss the usefulness/uselessness of all combo artfacts in Heroes 3 and give them a personal score of 1-5 depending on usefulness.

Angelic Alliance - 4 - Very nice with automatic Expert Prayer for 10 rounds and also allows mixing of good and neutral creatures without morale penalty.

Cloak Of The Undead King - 5 - Extremely good artifact, before you know it you have hundreds of Power Liches, which will be unstoppable!

Elixir Of Life - 2 to 3 - The reason for the low score is that when you have Resurrection or Animate Dead, this artifact seems kinda pointless, it also does'nt affect undead, elementals, golems or gargoyles.

Armor Of The Damned - 3 - Low stats from the artifacts themselves, but the 4 spells it casts are very nice, especially versus neutral armies, which can't dispel/cure it.

Statue Of Legion - 4 - Extreme growth bonus for all your towns, the only problem is getting enough gold to actually buy them all.

Power Of The Dragon Father - 4 - Gives +6 to all stats and makes you immune to level 1-4 spells, which means you can now spam Armageddon without fear, the downside is you still need to learn Armageddon from somewhere and you can't cast Resurrection or Animate Dead, but can still be affected by Implosion.    

Titan's Thunder - 1 to 2 - A free Lightning Bolt is alright, but by the time you have this artifact you can probably afford to cast stronger spells anyway.

Admiral's Hat - 0 to 4 - Obviously depends on the amount of water in the map, can be very good on an island map.

Bow Of The Sharpshooter - 0 to 2 - Honestly I don't consider this artifact very good, I much prefer the Golden Bow, which only takes 1 slot, it also depends on how many ranged units (and ballista/cannon) you have.    

Wizard's Well - 4 - Unlimited mana, very nice, though Town Portal to a Dungeon with Mana Vortex or visiting wells or magic springs, limits it's use a little.  

Ring Of The Magi - 1 - I really don't see the point of this artifact, +50 to duration, when is a battle ever gonna last that long? Pretty useless imo.

Cornucopia - 3 to 4 - Grants you lots of special ressources each day, which is nice.

And now the 4 HotA artifacts:

Diplomats Cloak - 2 - I never found much use for this artifact, I guess it can be good in certain situations, but I never had much use for it.

Pendant Of Reflection - 4 - Very nice with additional magic resistance, with this artifacts you will be hard to hit with magic.

Ironfist Of The Ogre - 4 - Mediocre artifact stat bonuses, but 4 very nice spells (including exclusive mass Fire Shield) for your army.

Golden Goose - 4 - Gives you tons of gold every day, very nice artifact.

So that is my opinion of these artifacts, what do you think about them? Feel free to give them your own score, if you feel like it.

I think your ratings are mostly on point. I would still rate these differently:

Elixir Of Life - I would say 3 in most cases. The health bonus for your tier 6 and 7 creatures is very noticeable.

Titan's Thunder - I would say 2 at best, possibly this could even be a 1. The value just isn't there usually - when you're finally able to craft this, you have access to plenty of mana and it usually makes lot more sense to cast others spells.

Cornucopia - Combining 4 major artifacts isn't that easy, and it takes time to collect all of them. If you look at the other artifacts you rated, you can see that 4 and 5 rated artifacts pretty much outright win you the game, as they combination bonus alone is simply that big. Cornucopia is very handy, but doesn't solely win you anything and it's effects are replaceable to some extend. So this can't be a 4, but it's rather a 3 (or maybe even a 2)

Good points Hourglass.

Elixir Of Life is of course better if you don't have Res/AD, (and you have creatures that can actually use it) but if you do, I don't see much point.

Titan's Thunder should maybe only be 1 or 2 as you said.

Cornucopia maybe a 3 then, all those special ressources can always be traded for gold and then it's almost as good as Golden Goose.

Ring of the Magi and Titans Thunder are surely most disappointing artifact sets to collect, the bonus never makes a difference.
From Angelic Alliance I would expect a better bonus because it is assembled from the best artifacts.
In my opinion, there is a huge disbalance between these combination artifacts. Some are useless while others feel like a cheat. Eg the Cloak of the Undead King is an instant win if you have it, also Armor of the Damned casting several spells for free just makes the concept of the magic system even more absurd.

Sure there is (also) some disbalance in this department. I wish for a better balance here as well.

Ok Phoenix, hourglass, RerryR and also other.

In brief.

Elixir of Life belongs to living against Necropolis and Conflux. When Necropolis has legion skeletons and liches. Conflux casts armageddon.

Titan's Thunder can do 900 damage. Good start of the week and not use Lightning Bolt, and then good primary skills.

Bow of the Sharpshooter, when horror legion of liches against legion dragons, for example.

Ring of the Magi, when good starting game also 20 power plus 50. It heips the poor knowledge, for example.

Cornucopia, when you are rich to seer's hut, for example.

Diplomats Cloak. No TP? No worries, negotiation with the neutral, for example.

The combo is a relic against antagoinst. But a very hard give a rating.

I think you are saying that some of these artifacts can be seen as a counter to specific game mechanics. That might be true and valid but that makes the placement for such boni a little bit questionable in the first place. Also dont get me wrong, some of these combination artifacts are nice and enjoyable.
I still think some could have been done much better. +50 rounds spell duration e.g. sucks, no matter what.

On HotA the Angellic Alliance allows for mixing of all towns & neutral creatures units without morale lose with exception of undead status creatures, where undead in army always give -1. It was fixed for balance purposes.

Titan lightning bolt is a boostable spell on HotA. Sorcery & sorcery specialists, as well as the orb of the firmaments boost it's damage.

I think both the Elixir of Life is a really good artifact(especially on the early game - whole game if on an armorer specialist hero or a beastmaster class hero in overall).
Bow of the sharpshooter is one of the best artifacts imo, finally even if it takes 3 slots from the misc, the only remaining misc artifacts you usually need is maybe the orb of vulnerability or the sphere of permanence(which is really amazing in combination with the Ironfist of the Ogre as example). The bow rocks especially on Orrin. In overall Archery seems to be the strongest specialty in the game, and this sick artifact allows your troops to shoot even if they're blocked attacking the attached to them blocker units, meaning your ranged units never stop shooting at all. Not to mention archery is getting boosted up even more overall.

That you can shoot while creatures are next to your archers is alright I suppose, but I would'nt say Archery is the strongest special in the game, that honor goes to Logistics and then Offense/Armorer and Intelligence. Specialties like Animate Dead, Resurrection, Haste, Prayer and Clone are also nice.

on HotA you get to collect Cyclops

20 Cyclops under lvl 20 Orrin with BOS will one shot as many as 4 Angels or 12 Wyvern. let's just try not to imagine a Lucky strike or Morale happens

do you still think that's weak ?

But you main Orrin in like 1 of 50 games max if he gets ultra lucky skill roll, getting bow of sharpshooter on top of that is highly unlikely.

that's quite true as well

when you play Necro and opp allowing you to use Cloak of Undead King is even rarer than maining Orrin
