The game has many strategies you just have to explore, strategies from big things like battles & building strutures to little things like having creatures scout around & knowing what heroes can help in an outcome to help you win.
There are so many strategies you would be surprised I think it will be dif when we play our first online game & I hope everyone has a good exp.

OK everyone keeps saying "there ARE strategies in H4".
Then I say "Tell me one" ...just one.
I played this game since it came out and it's mindless.
Sure I have some basic strategies but they are ones anyone could think up.
Maybe in multiplayer I will change my mind but someone please tell me one decent strategy that you have employed seems how so many like to say there are strategies in the game.
And do not say "Use 7 genies and this spell combo" etc because I know a million battlefield variations like that and I'm sure everyone does.
I mean a bonafide strategy.
There were millions in H3 and we because of the nature of the game we would have continued discovering them forever.
Anyway I'm waiting.

Just saying that everygame has a strategy does not have to be just on the battle field but what you do to make the outcome come to your fav,like for example I love to use stronghold my fav castle & hire two heroes as my main group one a warrior & one a academy hero with nobility & is one of the easiest to get grandmaster for a 50% more troops & build up the structure for another 50% you can get alot of creatures to fend plus you get some magic resistance & aloy of arties with resistance but no garuntees.
Think what a bunch of thunder birds,Cyclops,harpies,& the berserkers with the centaurs over twice as many as the opponents troops can do to an opponent.

moc, most of the strategies u might list for H3 were learnt in multiplayer games. There will be MP strategies discovered for H4 when the MP patch arrives. Having said that i've gone back to playing H3 randoms till the patch comes out cuz of boredom, not a good sign.
The only new strategies i can see so far is using multiple heroes in map battles since if u do a battle and learn 1500 exp points, all the heroes used in battle will learn the 1500 rather than being split between them (correct me if u think i'm wrong - only checked it once), so it makes sense to use multiple heroes as much as possible to double or triple up on the experience u can get out of ur side of map.

I agree with the initial post. The game lacks appeal and addictiveness. I am also looking forward to AoW 2, which sounds promising, although it can't fill the void "after" HOMM4.

Well lets get dreaming about the mp patch, and since thats notcoming out for a while... yes what else are we gonna do besides wait, i still enjoy the game, although i also get bored about a (real)day into the game, then i go shoot ppl in tribes, and come back to start a new character,
Should we not start making maps now then? if even just for single player, cos im runnin outta maps 2 play

Well Mocara here is a strategy i use when playing order and attacking a castle.
First knock out the one of the enemies in the tower and teleport your toughest ranged creature ie titans or genies or the ones where you have a lot of, because the tower give added protection.
cast Blind or forgetful or song of peace on to the shooters or the mages.
Create illusion of your titans for ranged attacks. I usually have two mages and one necromancer.
Use the mages and the necromancer to cast posion on the tough creatures.
Use the dwarves for destroying the gate.
This always works for me.

Hey all
Played the necromancer and it was interesting...very interesting...longest game I have played so far.
Set up the troops where I want them on turn 1 and hit the autocombat and its very entertaining. Some silly moves to make me laugh but also generally nothing lost. Saved much time as battles seem to take more time because of my newbieness to H4.
I recommend you try the Necro...an improvement for sure...

Yes Nec is a powerful skill to learn & since there is no prerequisites you can learn Grand master early & still dont know how the nec thang works but you kill like pack of imps you may only get ghosts then 2 vamps but vamps are way powerful best third lv creature & getting two extra or 1 every battle with grand master Nec can be deadly.
