I want a pet pterodactyl

I know gene editing might be able to give me an indefinite lifespan, enhanced senses, 500+ IQ, and super stamina, but if we can just start things off light would it be too much to ask for a pet pterodactyl? I feel like that's a reasonable request. I want to be like "HAW!" and ride off into the sunset on my loyal pterodactyl.

Nekomimi are the way of the future you heathen, the priority was, is and will always be the genetical engineering of catgirls for human company. Or raccoongirls, they are also splendid.

Wait, isn't this the reason why you eat soy?

And what happened to this whole Mammoth resurrection project? DNA is quite well preserved, and they can use an actual Elephant female as a surrogate mother. The whole trick lies in this (well, and there's also probably this whole "playing God" morality of things, laws etc). I don't know which animal could be used for a Pterodactyl though. A bird? A domesticated hen is enough you think?

Sorry to disappoint you but those big pterodactyls likely lived near the coast and took off by diving into uplifting winds.  Being able to take off on one like a sky horse would be impossible.

Lucky for you there's massive drones that can do the same thing.  Just put some giant leathery wings on one and pretend real hard

Not to mention the amount of fish needed to feed it would not be cheap.
And it probably doesn’t have enough lift to take you with it and not plummet to the sea straight away.

Or it just didn't pay off in terms of the caloric demand and living by the coast enabled them to spend less energy when hunting. I was there.

But my vegan pterodactyl will have tofu delivered to it daily and will not need to conserve its energy, therefore we can train it to be a skyhorse.
